I came across this post and it hit me deep. Former Juventus academy player Cendrim Kameraj shared a picture of him training alongside Cristiano Ronaldo back in 2018, and him now working in construction at 26 years-old. Represented Switzerland and Kosovo internationally at youth level too. I know we always highlight the best young players who have made it or are coming up… But it’s also important to highlight the other side of the game too. For many, it’s a reality. You may not make it on the pitch, but whatever you go on to do, you’re not a failure. I have so much respect for anyone who picks themself up and earns an honest living. People on the outside don’t know the how tough mentally that is, to be so close, to see people you played alongside making it. Thank you for sharing your story, we are all with you. ❤️🫡

Diogo Jota has sadly passed away in a car accident along with his brother. 💔 Only won the nations league a few weeks ago, and got married this week. Rest in perfect peace. Sending love to all his family, friends & team mates. ❤️🙏🏼

This is how it now looks as he continues building towards his return. 😳 Injuries are really the loneliest times for players. Mentally so draining. He was born with malformations in his arms and without both legs, and uses prosthetic legs. Playing football was always his dream, despite his disability. But because of this, he was never allowed to play, even at his school. He found a local social football club 3 years ago, the Campo Belo Project… And has been playing ever since, even with those who are able bodied. 🙏🏽 He turns up to training & matches every single week. He finally gets to play the sport he always dreamed of, alongside his friends. When I saw his story, I knew I had to post it for the world to see. A reminder of how lucky we are just to be able to play the sport we love without complications. Football really is the best sport on earth. Keep doing what you love Esdras, and never stop dreaming. ❤️❤️
