We’re takin’ a look at a really rare piece of 1980s German engineering flair. It’s a 1986 Porsche 911 Targa—but not just any Targa. This one’s been worked over by the wild minds at BB Auto, one of the more eccentric German tuners of the era. Now, this thing’s got a factory-style, a body kit that could’ve walked off the set of Miami Vice, and get this…it’s got an early version of electronic power boost. Basically, a go-fast button before go-fast buttons were cool. I’m joined by my pal @beauboeckmann , the guy who knows more about obscure performance cars than just about anyone. We take it for a spin, kick in that electronic boost, and try not to grin too hard. Complete with Manthey-spec parts and a CSF 3-piece cooling system, this joins one of just around 20 known 996 and 997 4.2L’s made by Manthey, with most examples remaining overseas.
