In my opinion, themed décor is one of the quickest ways to cross the line into kitschy territory—and not in the charming way. Think “beach house” turning into a gift shop. The truth is, the really good pieces often take a little digging. Sometimes they’re hiding in the back corner behind a weird flamingo lamp, and sometimes they’re right up front like they own the place. If you’re on the hunt for décor, my golden rule is always: mix and match from different stores.
