Imagine waiting thirteen years for a chance like this.

For this family, that chance came in the form of a second embryo transfer.

Behind every appointment, there is a story. And sometimes, that story is years of waiting, hoping, heartbreak, and trying again.

This time, their surrogate already knew what was at stake.

So while the room stayed quiet, the moment carried the weight of thirteen years and the hope that this could finally be the one that changes everything.

When you think about surrogate compensation, don’t forget the second person whose time may be affected: her partner.

Appointments, childcare and important journey days can mean missed work and some programs provide lost-wage support for that time.

The headline number doesn’t always tell the whole story.

She wasn’t trying to become a surrogate. She just wanted to help her best friend have a baby.

What happened next is the reason she says it was worth it.

The part I wish I could tell you was that I knew exactly what I was doing.

I did not.

When I became a surrogate for the first time, I trusted the process because I thought that was what you were supposed to do. I assumed the agency would guide me, answer the questions I did not know to ask, and make sure everyone involved felt supported.

Instead, there were moments where I felt like I was figuring it out as I went.

And I remember thinking, there has to be a better way to do this.

That thought stayed with me.

Roots was built from the things I wish I had known, the questions I wish I had asked, and the kind of support I believe every surrogate and intended parent deserves.

Comment "roots" and let us talk it through.

Imagine giving birth to triplets… and still caring for them nearly TWO YEARS later because the intended parent never came to pick them up. This case raises serious questions about agency oversight, legal preparation, and who protects everyone involved.

Surrogacy isn't predictable. A successful transfer can be followed by a failed one, and a failed transfer doesn't mean a surrogate isn't the right candidate. Every journey is unique.

Who pays for your lawyer? Not you.

In a surrogacy journey, the intended parents typically cover the surrogate’s legal fees. That means you should be able to have your own independent attorney without worrying about paying out of pocket.

Your lawyer’s job is to protect your interests, explain your contract, and make sure you understand your rights before you sign anything.

Legal representation is part of the journey and it should never come at the expense of your independence.

"What if I get too attached?”

It’s one of the biggest questions women have before becoming a surrogate. But for me, knowing the baby was never mine made the experience completely different.

And would I do it again? Absolutely.

What started with becoming a surrogate eventually became a whole new purpose in my life.

Comment “roots” and let’s talk it through.

Where is your money actually going?

One of the first questions you should ask a surrogacy agency is who is holding your funds.

Your agency should not be holding your money. Funds should be kept with an independent escrow provider, with clear rules about how and when those funds can be accessed.

If you cannot get a clear answer about where your money is held, stop and ask more questions before moving forward.

Only 2% of applicants are accepted.

Because surrogacy is about the right match, not the most matches.

Had your tubes tied? You can still qualify to become a surrogate.

Your tubes aren't used in the surrogacy process, so it's not a disqualifying factor.

If you’re currently in a surrogacy journey, you may have seen the headlines about the executive order signed August 6 and wondered what it means for your family.

Right now, there is still a lot that hasn’t been clarified. The provision addresses birthright citizenship in circumstances where neither intended parent is a US citizen, so the situation can be very different for families with a US citizen intended parent.

Legal challenges are underway, and federal guidance has not yet been issued.

For now, don’t let headlines make decisions for you. Stay informed, ask questions and rely on actual legal guidance as this develops.

We’re watching it closely, and we’ll keep you updated when the facts change.

People hear the compensation number and immediately picture the nine months of pregnancy.

But surrogacy starts long before pregnancy does.

There’s the application, matching, medical screening, legal process, medications, transfer and then, hopefully, pregnancy.

From the first step to delivery, the journey can take around 18 months, depending on your situation and how quickly each stage moves.

So when you look at compensation, look at the timeline too. The number means more when you understand how long the entire journey actually takes.

Save this if you’re considering becoming a surrogate.

Can a surrogate get too attached to the baby? 🤍 It’s a question many people wonder about, but the emotional journey can be more complex than you expect.

You’ll probably know pretty quickly if surrogacy is for you.

You had a positive pregnancy experience. You feel your family is complete. You are not looking to have another baby yourself, but you love the idea of helping someone else become a parent.

Maybe the financial compensation is appealing too. And maybe, more than anything, you want to do something meaningful for another family.

If you read that and thought, “That sounds like me,” it may be worth learning more.

And if it does not sound like you right now, that is completely okay. There is no perfect time or one right reason to become a surrogate.

Save this and send it to someone who might be considering it.
