The part I wish I could tell you was that I knew exactly what I was doing. I did not. When I became a surrogate for the first time, I trusted the process because I thought that was what you were supposed to do. I assumed the agency would guide me, answer the questions I did not know to ask, and make sure everyone involved felt supported. Instead, there were moments where I felt like I was figuring it out as I went. And I remember thinking, there has to be a better way to do this. That thought stayed with me.
