One of the more outrageous stories from the wild west days of early social media: a diabolical @linkedin marketing organic #growthhack, as told by Neil Patel in this video 😳 🤠 😮‍💨😷. I have no doubt that this worked (and might still work tbh)...far from enterprise-rubber stamped approved territory, but clever nonetheless, and if you're like me you find "tales" like this fascinating, and occasionally the spark of inspiration for a modern #socialmediahack of your own. It feels like 2026 is going to be a year where a lot of #genai-fueled variations on this "theme" are going to pop-up and squeeze what they can from the orange as the field fast-follows and platform zones get flooded (if the platforms haven't deduced and dinged such tactics already).

Why Creativity Is STILL the Variable in Media Buying in 2026 2026 being days away, while this post is from January 2023, it's even more relevant now than it was then. Top media buying talent and skill sets WILL (continue to) look extremely different, even from 2025 norms. Brand remains the undisputed -- and only -- moat, and the bar for relevance and #creativity is rising at higher rate than enterprises can keep up with, at least in current status quo. #criticalthinking and human agency and actually generating material momentum in objective meritocratic terms is no longer award winning / "best in class" it's table stakes essential

Stitch with @jonahbelanger on video viewer retargeting! Most critical: the video assets themselves and dynamic text/aspect ratio elements you can version out. Let the algo do its thing on end biz results, generating viewership you can retarget immediately + use in every subsequent campaign to "start on second base." TL;DR: Get views as a byproduct of fixating on the outcome you want, not views just to get views. #facebookads #paidads #digitalmarketing #performancemarketing #2026

Media buying hot take in 2026 🔥 Targeting is table stakes. Creative is THE variable. The algorithm is smart. Feed it great creative and let it find your audience. Have strong systems integrations flowing and data signals in abundance. The obsession with hyper-targeting? Holdover from a different time in the ad platforms' evolution, and a practice while still relevant on secondary channels, is increasingly more of a distraction than source of alpha for marketers. Wondering if this even IS a hot take for 2026 or increasingly "known" and being acted upon accordingly. #mediabuyingtips #facebookads #digitalmarketing #paidmedia #creativeagency #performancecreative #vaynermedia

Proving out incremental biz from organic #socialmediamarketing it boils down to: is the organic content threading the needle of being engaging / relevant while also imbuing the brand AND key action to take to the user @vaynermedia #performancemarketing #brandformance

This Google search stat shocked me back in September 2023. In 2026 I imagine the number has crept even higher. Legacy search continues to navigate sea change-magnitude disruptive forces and entirely new ways users are querying and #prompting top AI answer engines (@chatgpt, @gemini, @perplexity etc). Zero click search impressions abound while traffic wanes, query lengths are increasing on average, and it's Google's game (still) to lose in the #aiwars. 2026 will be a big one for the #answerengineoptimization frontier work and trying to get the reins around driving brand visibility in key LLMs with some degree of directional control. #aisearch #chatgpt #perplexity #seo #aeo #aitools #nanobanana #gemini

I posted this on December 14, 2022 — just TWO WEEKS after ChatGPT launched. At the time, AI tools seemed "too early" or "not proven." Most marketers weren't paying attention. But those early adopters who went deep? They're now the leading AI consultants and power users. The pattern repeats: being early to emergent tech (like Facebook ads in 2007) creates disproportionate opportunity. When something SEEMS too early, that's exactly when you should go all in. What's the next "too early" opportunity you're ignoring right now? 👀 #ai #chatgpt #earlyadopter #digitalmarketing #2026 #socialmedia #facebookads #opportunity #garyvee
