AI generated content is getting harder to spot. Sarah Kimmel with @familytech shared four smart ways to pick it out of a line up:

1. Pay attention to your emotions. How is the content making you feel?

2. Go directly to the source. Don’t click on direct links in suspicious posts.

3. Look for visual inconsistencies. Often, something looks off with AI generated content.

In this episode:
👉 The do’s and don’ts of what to share and what to keep private when meeting new people digitally.
👉 Kristin and Molly Bitton, founder of Singles Mingle Events get informed by cyber security expert Sarah Kimmel. Host of Oh My Tech Podcast and @familytech
👉 Sarah Kimmel answers specific questions about what’s safe to say on a dating profile and if it’s okay to connect your Instagram profile to your dating app.

Whether you’re swiping or just here for the laughs—this episode’s got something for you. Hit play, subscribe, and maybe stop taking selfies from that angle.

If you’re new around here—welcome to the chaotic joyride that is Barbie Does Dating, where we explore the wild, wonderful, and occasionally cringe-worthy world of dating in Utah culture.

Your hosts:
Barbie Berg – fearless dater with stories you’ll swear were scripted (they weren’t).
Kristin Sokol – professional Dating Coach and wise woman of the Wasatch.
Steve Soelberg – single, hilarious, and injured himself trying to find his “good side” on camera this episode. (He recovered in 20 minutes, and yes, we filmed it.)

Ever heard your teen mention a “spam” account or “Finsta”?

It can sound like secrecy at first. But for a lot of teens, it’s simply a second account where they can post without overthinking what “fits” their main, carefully edited feed.

Spam accounts can include random photo dumps, casual moments, and fun memories that feel more real than polished.

Still, parents shouldn’t ignore it. Even uncurated accounts can turn into oversharing, the wrong followers, and a comparison loop that quietly messes with confidence.

The goal is not to panic. It’s to stay aware. Know what your teen is posting, who can see their posts, and whether the content still supports the kind of reputation you want for them, online and offline.

Your child isn’t just “on their phone.” Their brain is being rewired by it.

If your teen gets restless when you take the phone away, if screen time is replacing sports, family time, or sleep, it’s time to take action.

It could be digital dependence and it's hard to break.

Many kids today aren’t addicted to content—they’re addicted to dopamine. And social media knows exactly how to feed it.

As parents, it’s not about counting hours. It’s about noticing the signs:

• Mood swings when offline
• Loss of motivation for real-life activities
• Sleep disruption
• Shorter attention spans and constant stimulation seeking

You can’t fight this with screen time limits alone, but you can build awareness, better habits, and stronger communication at home.
