Addressing the situation ❤️‍🩹
The Vietnamese tea ceremony carries so much more weight than just the union of two people. In our culture, a marriage is the coming together of two families - honoring our ancestors, and weaving together our pasts, our present, and our future.

My parents have always given me the freedom to make my own choices, and our wedding was no different. When I asked if there was anything they wanted me to do, they said it was completely up to Evan and me. They would support whatever we decided.

But for me, the answer was easy. My Vietnamese identity is such a core part of who I am, and the one thing I knew I wanted was a traditional tea ceremony. And my ông xã - being who he is - didn’t just support it, he embraced it wholeheartedly 🥹
Watching his entire family step into my culture with so much respect and intention meant more to me than I can fully put into words.

The ceremony itself is layered with meaning.
The groom’s family comes bearing gifts: betel leaves and areca nuts to symbolize love and fidelity, tea and wine for a shared life together, fruits and cakes for prosperity and sweetness for the journey ahead, and jewelry as a blessing from his parents to their future daughter-in-law.
These offerings are placed at the ancestral altar, I’m brought forward, and our fathers light the wedding candles - a symbol of two families becoming one, and of our ancestors guiding us into this next chapter. Together, we light incense and bow, inviting them to witness and bless our union
We then serve tea to our elders - a quiet but powerful promise that we will carry our families forward with love, respect, and intention

It’s a ceremony rooted in tradition, but what made it so special to me was seeing it become ours. Not just mine. Not just his. But something we chose, together.

Because at the end of the day, this wasn’t just about marrying the person I love. It was about family legacy and welcoming each other fully - families, histories, cultures, and all - and choosing to build something new, together

My culture is my Vietnamese husband’s now, too. And that’s something I’ll never take for granted 🤍

one year engaged to the love of my life 🥹✨ the last year has brought exciting changes and inevitable challenges, but peace always feels easy with Evan

we’ve spent this year soaking up fiancé life - sharing our love with our closest people, building little routines together, and settling into this sweet season of in-between

but now… we’re finally ready to share how it all began 💍 Evan somehow managed to completely catch me off guard (which is basically impossible, because I’m notoriously nosy 🤭) with the most thoughtful, magical proposal, and I still cry every time I think about it 🥲

our full engagement story is now live on YouTube 🤍 give it a watch to see how he pulled it all off 💞

our epic 2-day pre-wedding shoot was one of the most memorable parts of our wedding journey so far! I really wanted Evan to come with me to Viet Nam and to see my family there before we got married, and especially as someone who really values my ethnic background, it meant the world to have wedding photos taken that really captured my ancestral and cultural roots ♥️

with our insane work schedules and planning 3 weddings, having @onethreeonefour plan this photoshoot for us from start to finish was priceless. every detail was so thoughtfully organized, and required so little work from us - I can’t recommend them enough!

as a gift from us to my fellow fiancé(e)s, they’ve agreed to offer a discount to the first 10 couples that book a pre-wedding photo shoot in Vietnam 🤍 details below:

Promo Code: MADALYNEVAN for $100 off

T&Cs:
- Valid only for our Vietnam Premium Full Day Photoshoot Package
- Promo code valid until 31 Mar 2026
- Photoshoots must be completed by 30 June 2027

To the fathers whose love is felt, not just heard. Who weren’t given the tools to express their emotions, but still give us everything they have. Thank you for defying the odds and always showing up when it matters most

Happy Father’s Day to the man who showed me what being loved well truly means 💛 Thank you for always being my safe place and showing me how a man should care for the people he loves. I’m so incredibly lucky to be your daughter 🥹

what products or procedures have taken your skin to the next level?

you know you’re getting old when you’re flattered that your patients ask “are you old enough to be a doctor” 🥲 this is everything I did to preserve and maintain my skin in hopes of aging gracefully!

- one thing I wish I did better was more aggressive spf use at an earlier age - prevention is everything, after all!

- retinoids helped with my acne early on, but have the added benefit of collagen stimulation - so that was an unwitting slay 🤭

- cleanser for a clean base, of course, but double cleansing really changed the game.

- moisturizer to keep things hydrated because dry skin is dull, irritated, and/or wrinkled skin. you can often achieve a youthful plump with just moisturizing alone! this one is a must for me especially as a dry skin girly, but even oily skin needs moisturizer!

- adding an antioxidant was a game changer for skin vibrance - I personally love vitamin C but have been adding in additional antioxidants with each passing year lol.

- my favorite add-ons to further stimulate collagen and combat fine lines recently have been peptides, growth factors, and exosomes! it has added a few steps to my routine so I sometimes skip these on busy days where I can only do the bare minimum basics

- as for procedures, I’ve shared all this before, but recently also tried sculptra and am starting to get more curious about skin tightening! these are all things that I recommend to my patients all the time because they’re things that I would personally do and/or would want for my mother, sister, father, or fiance (though dad and Evan have yet to agree to let me do anything for them 😒)

comment ‘SKINCARE’ for the products used in this video 🫶🏻

custom áo dài cưới tour ❤️✨

I searched forever for a red bridal áo dài but none ever felt quite right.
I saw @renee.couture’s beautiful designs online and reached out to see if she had ever made an áo dài before. she hadn’t but was willing to try, and I was willing to risk it despite being nervous about the logistics. probably one of the best decisions I’ve ever made 🥹

we talked over WhatsApp and she asked me to tell her more about what I was envisioning, Evan and I’s love story, and more about our backgrounds - all while making sure she understood what made an áo dài an áo dài. I sent photos of my family and @kovuthewoof while we chatted over several months, and she sent a few sketches for approval and was so incredibly patient as I changed my mind several times on what colors / designs / cuts I wanted 😅

the first time I saw this áo dài, my jaw just dropped. it was even more beautiful in person than anything I could’ve ever imagined. my mother (a tailor and the world’s harshest critic when it comes to clothing quality 🤣) was SO impressed at the craftsmanship and hand-sewn details. I truly couldn’t believe that she had never made an áo dài before because she absolutely nailed my dream dress!!

she is truly an artist in every sense - designing and creating a perfect and beautifully unique-yet-traditional masterpiece collage of our love story in a way I couldn’t even picture myself. it’s a piece we’ll cherish forever ♥️
