From the bright blue and ivory spectator sportswear of “Cap d’Antibes” to the pale desert tones and tech/traditional fabrications of “Voyager,” clothing made for adventure, the Ralph Lauren Palazzo in Milan was filled this evening with modern gentlemanly elegance. The suede and leather fisherman sandals paired with most looks were a terrific touch.

From the bright blue and ivory spectator sportswear of “Cap d’Antibes” to the pale desert tones and tech/traditional fabrications of “Voyager,” clothing made for adventure, the Ralph Lauren Palazzo in Milan was filled this evening with modern gentlemanly elegance. The suede and leather fisherman sandals paired with most looks were a terrific touch.

After quite a few years seeing him there, running the dining room in the evenings in his iconic colorful tailoring, I felt I had to ask if I could take his photo. His looks and his joy in dressing were just too incredible, too singular not to record. He was always happy to oblige and I tried to converse in my very broken, rudimentary Italian, sharing my admiration for his style. Here are just a few of his legendary looks. Condoglianze.

An absolutely sublime experience at the just-opened Valdemars Slot, the only royal palace of Denmark in private hands. The current owners, a young family, after a tumultuous recent history and an incredible dedication to the preservation of this family legacy, have dedicated this glorious space to contemporary art and honoring the idea and act of patronage. Celebrated, reclaimed, historic art and furniture is juxtaposed with newly commissioned works and exhibitions of contemporary artists. The inaugural exhibition features work by Jiří Georg Dokoupil, noted for his painted and blown glass bubbles. The colors and shapes against the oversized portraits and sea views are just breathtaking. The Tea House overlooking the Baltic features a work by Rong Bao, a recent graduate of the Royal College of Art in London. There are notable paintings and a series of three truly spectacular tapestries that have remained untouched for centuries. The purity of the space, so wonderfully Danish in its nature: the unfinished wood floors, the matte walls, the elaborate decorative steel heaters, the decorative plasterwork ceilings, is magical environment in which to view art. Wow. And what a glorious day to be here, with a sunny cloudless sky. This is an exciting addition to the contemporary art world. Many thanks to @nickeykehoe for their recent post that I happened upon while we were nearby on the island of Fyn that led us here. The power of social media can be wonderful, especially while traveling.

Thanks so much @keny_fashionstyle for this style retrospective. My beloved Helmut Lang denim jacket is in semi-retirement, taking it easy in a closet as I moved into other style explorations. Feeling a bit more tailored these days, enjoying playing with proportion, in a voluminous short/skort/culotte phase, and always seeking balance in a look: the right mix of dressy and casual, fitted and oversized, tailoring and sportswear. I love having a bit of a uniform, but am always curious to try new things, fits, styles, items, etc. Thanks for these style memories.

A tribute to the man, the master, the legend Giorgio Armani. Very, very saddened to hear of Mr. Armani’s passing this morning in Italy. It’s impossible to overstate his impact, innovation, imagination, and the importance of what he created and what he meant to the world of fashion, film, culture, and beyond. I cobbled together some runway bows from shows over the years…an ovation to Mr. Armani and his legacy.
