Writing from the heart on a Saturday morning because my heart feels heavy after all that is happening in our world. I went to law school before building Blume because I believed and still believe systems should exist to protect people. I left because believed I could make an impact in a different way through business. At 23 years old, when I began my entrepreneurial journey with my sister, I hoped that having a business and a voice would allow me to make more impact than I felt I could as an individual. I feel proud to see other founders in our industry leading with compassion and courage. In the worlds of @charlotteparler "I work in beauty so let me be clear: A lotion is not empowering. A bra is not empowering. Rights are empowering." I’m sharing this to give context on Blume's roots and why skincare and wellness brands are using their platforms to advocate for justice. Blume is of course a for-profit business, and we’re not positioning ourselves as a social impact or nonprofit organization. That said, we were built with purpose at our core, and we believe businesses can strive to leave the world better than they found it. As daughters of immigrants, we carry the weight of sacrifice in everything we do. Our parents left everything they knew so we could have choices. This is the reality of so many others in our community. You've shown up for Blume in ways that leave us in awe. So when the world feels heavy, when systems feel impossible to move, we think of you. Thousands of people who believe that small, consistent action matters. That showing up for each other is never wasted. Tomorrow, 100% of net proceeds from Blume.com go to @ILCofMN—an organization providing free legal representation to immigrants and protecting human rights. It's a humble donation from us and our community, but it is something. This community has always been about more than skincare. It's about building the world we want to see.
