Imagine growing older surrounded by the gals. That’s exactly what 26 women in North London set out to create. After spending nearly two decades turning the idea into reality, they built a co-housing community where women aged 58 to 94 live independently in their own apartments while sharing gardens, meals, movie nights, exercise classes, and a strong sense of community. The space officially launched in 2018, but the goal was not to create a retirement home. Instead, they wanted to create a place where friendship, connection, and independence could coexist. Sounds pretty dreamy. In a world where loneliness is becoming increasingly common, it’s easy to see why so many people are calling this the future of aging. Imagine growing older surrounded by the gals. That’s exactly what 26 women in North London set out to create. After spending nearly two decades turning the idea into reality, they built a co-housing community where women aged 58 to 94 live independently in their own apartments while sharing gardens, meals, movie nights, exercise classes, and a strong sense of community. The space officially launched in 2018, but the goal was not to create a retirement home. Instead, they wanted to create a place where friendship, connection, and independence could coexist. Sounds pretty dreamy. In a world where loneliness is becoming increasingly common, it’s easy to see why so many people are calling this the future of aging.
