Naaalala ko pa yung unang araw na napansin kita noong third year high school tayo sa UST. Pinatawag pa kayo ng teacher sa harapan dahil sa ingay ninyo at pinasayaw kayo ng ‘Oh baby baby’’ ng F4 Meteor Garden bilang parusa. Sino mag-aakala na yung simpleng sandaling ‘yon ang magiging simula ng kwento nating dalawa? Madalas sabihin ng iba na distraction daw ang relasyon habang bata pa ngunit ikaw ang nagbigay inspirasyon upang ako ay mag-aral nang mas mabuti. Ikaw ang nagbigay lakas para tahakin ko ang passion ko, ikaw ang unang taong nagturo sa akin ng halaga ng pelikula hindi lamang bilang libangan kundi bilang sining, ikaw ang kasama mula sa pag-review para sa entrance exams hanggang sa paggawa at pagtatanghal ng aking thesis, ikaw ang kasama sa mga sa mga simpleng kainan at street food na swak lang sa budget natin bilang mga estudyante, at ikaw ang kasama mag komyut mula Espana hanggang Katipunan. Magkaibang mundo ang ginagalawan natin—ikaw, abala sa pag unawa ng mga physics equations at quantum mechanics; ako naman, nakatutok sa paglikha ng mga kuha at kwento sa likod ng kamera, mapa-akademya man o trabaho. Ikaw, sanay mag-isa at nagkukulong sa katahimikan ng pag-aaral; ako, nasanay sa ilaw at ingay ng mga kaganapan bilang content creator. Ngunit sa pagitan ng dalawang mundong iyon, natagpuan natin ang isa’t isa—hindi para baguhin ang isa, kundi para maging sandalan, lakas, at inspirasyon. Sabay tayo nagpuyat, nadapa, natuto at nangarap. Sa’yo ko natutunan na ang tagumpay ay hindi lang tungkol sa nakamit mo, kundi kung sino ang pinili mong kasama habang tinatahak lahat ng ito.  At habang patuloy tayong sumusulat ng mga bagong pahina, hindi ko mapigilan isipin kung paano isang simpleng parusa sa klase ang humantong sa lahat ng ito —sa kwentong mas masaya pa kaysa sa paboritong kong pelikula, mas totoo pa kaysa sa pinakamamahal kong fictional na character, mas komplikado pa kaysa sa mga Christopher Nolan na films, at mas ka akit akit pa kaysa sa perfectly framed golden hour shot na dumadapo sa puso kahit walang sinasabi. At sa bawat pahina ng kwento natin, araw-araw, ikaw at ikaw pa rin ang pipiliin ko — kaibigan, katuwang, at katangi-tangi ko.
