@kendalljenner traded minimalist glamour for a playful mountain escape that pushes her into new decorative territory, with help from #AD100 designer Heidi Caillier (@heidicaillierdesign). In Jenner’s first ground-up build, designed with architect Kirby Lee, she fulfilled her dream of creating a home filled with sentimental treasures and enough room to host all her beloved friends and family.

“If I wasn’t an actress, I’d want to be a designer. I love the process,” serial home renovator @jenniferaniston says. “There’s something about picking out fabrics and finishes that feeds my soul.”

Aniston enlisted the aid of #AD100 interior designer @stephenshadley, with whom she had collaborated on her previous L.A. home, to perform a similar alchemy in Bel Air—namely, to preserve the modernist ethos of the original scheme while softening some of its sharp lines and outfitting the interior with tactile, organic finishes and furnishings.

“I was immediately drawn to how it was clean but also cozy,” says @dakotajohnson of her L.A. home. “I thought, I’ll never want to sell this place.”

The design firm @pierceandward, which has offices in L.A. and Nashville, helped execute Johnson’s wish list for the renovation. Emily Ward, cofounder of the company with Louisa Pierce, met Johnson when she was living in Nashville, and they became pals before the design firm was founded. “Dakota was extremely fun to work with because she had a very clear vision of what she wanted,” Ward says. “We basically made mood boards and came over for fabric-selecting. And wine.”

Today, AD is welcomed by Lenny Kravitz (@lennykravitz) to tour his regal home in Paris. The superstar musician has loved Paris since he first visited in 1989 but it wasn’t until the early 2000s that he decided it was time to get a place in the city. With a small apartment on the Seine in mind, Kravitz's vision deviated a little when he ended up viewing the grand mansion of Countess Anne d’Ornano. Having started his #AD100 studio, Kravitz Design (@kravitz_design), Lenny spearheaded the design of his home. Soulful elegance was Kravitz’s design philosophy, filling his home with photographs, artwork, and artifacts connecting him to his ancestors and influential figures from throughout his life.

“I spent most of my childhood in this building,” says Noah Wyle, seated at Craft Contemporary, the museum founded by his grandmother, artist Edith R. Wyle, in 1973. “The memories come back like torrents.” But as the Emmy-winning star of The Pitt reflects, the organization is just as meaningful in terms of its cultural significance to Los Angeles. Craft Contemporary, he notes, “is a meeting place where people can come and talk, share ideas, debate ideas, and experience other cultures.”

For the March LA issue, AD asked 12 iconic Angelenos to take us somewhere meaningful. This time, everyone’s favorite doctor makes a house call at Craft Contemporary (@craftcontemporary).

Forget 2024’s TikTok dating mantra: “I’m looking for a man in finance.” @zooeydeschanel found something better: a guy in construction—six-foot-five, with a thing for plaster cornices. Step into the crisply detailed, Georgian-inflected apartment the actor and musician shares with fiancé @jonathanscott, one half of HGTV’s Property Brothers, and the appeal becomes obvious. For a design fan, getting engaged to a contractor might be the ultimate fantasy. Not only do you find the love of your life—you also get really nice moldings. To help achieve their vision, the couple also enlisted AD100 designer Young Huh, known for her deft layering of historic European elements with fresh patterns, livable layouts, and romantic use of color.

“Defying gravity in architecture was a great way to launch into the second film,” says Oscar-winning production designer Nathan Crowley of the sets of Wicked: For Good.

By now it’s no secret that flight factors heavily into the final scene of Wicked, the first installment of the hit musical’s two-part movie adaptation. And it’s a theme that very much persists, both narratively and visually, in director Jon M. Chu’s eagerly awaited sequel, Wicked: For Good, flying into theaters November 21.

In recent years, @pamelaanderson has proven herself a true renaissance woman. Last year the actress published a cookbook and earned some well-deserved praise (and award nominations) for her star turn in Gia Coppola’s drama "The Last Showgirl," but Anderson says the catalyst for her season of rebirth was her garden. Her seven-acre Vancouver Island property known as Arcady (“It means peaceful, rustic place,” Anderson explains) is home to fragrant roses, ground cherries, all sorts of melons, and much more. It’s also where her parents first lived after they married, and where her sons Brandon and Dylan took their first steps as babies.

For our March issue dedicated to Los Angeles, we look to Altadena.

A year after their newly-renovated dream home was nearly destroyed in the Eaton Fire, actor and singer Mandy Moore and musician Taylor Goldsmith are settling back into their restored house.

Once again, there’s music in the living room, the sound of children playing outside, a garden sprouting into new life. Visitors sense the quiet optimism of a community moving forward together.

The family's Spanish Colonial Revival home tells a story of rebuilding and choosing to believe in what comes next.

Open Door, coming soon.

This story appears in AD’s March LA Issue, which also highlights ongoing rebuilding efforts in Altadena. Learn more about how you can support the cause at archdigest.com/donatela.
