Expect anything at protests in South Korea

This was a demonstration we stumbled upon while walking through Seoul. The protesters were opposing same-sex marriage and LGBTQ rights as a counter-demonstration to the Seoul Pride events taking place that day. 🏳️‍🌈

What I find remarkable is that demonstrations in Korea are almost always peaceful and non-violent even if protests often involve very strong or controversial opinions.

Regardless of where people stand on specific issues, for me it’s fascinating to see how openly and passionately people express their views in public. In my opinion, hardly any country in the world lives direct democracy as much as South Korea does. 🇰🇷

What are your opinions on this? 🤔

When I told people I am traveling to Bangladesh, I was met with a lot of skepticism and people being worried about my safety.

And even though I stayed in Mohammadpur which locals later told me is apparently one of the sketchiest neighborhoods in all of Dhaka 😅 I didn’t face any problems with the people in the capital or any other place
I visited in Bangladesh.

Bangladeshis were some of the most hospitable people I’ve ever met, people would always come up to me and treat me for Chai, have a smalltalk with me about football or just being very curious and asking questions about me.

Yes, some destinations are more challenging to visit than others but the people are usually the best part of most countries you visit and the Bangladeshis
I met were all kind people. Don’t let other people (who haven’t been to the country) discourage you to visit a place!

I found Japan’s most beautiful town (No tourists?) 🇯🇵

This is Narai-juku and it has probably been my favorite historic town I have visited in all of Japan. It’s located in the Kiso Valley in the Nagano, reachable by the local JR Chuo Train Line.

It was probably a combination of coming during the rainy season and the town not being on the typical Golden Route in Japan that we saw so few tourists while we were there.

One of my new favorite places in Japan that I highly recommend stopping by the next time you are in Japan.

The town where men are getting BEATEN by women 😳

Welcome to Barsana, India, where I experienced one of the craziest festivals and travel days of my life!

This wild celebration is called Lathmar Holi, and it’s part of the larger Holi festival, which typically lasts just two days in most parts of India. However, in the Braj region of Uttar Pradesh, the festivities are taken to a whole new level.

What makes this celebration even more unique are the two events that take place exclusively in Barsana and its neighboring town, Nandgaon. During Lathmar Holi, the women of Barsana use sticks to “beat” the men from Nandgaon, who travel there for the occasion. The next day, the roles reverse: the women of Barsana go to Nandgaon to return the favor, and the men must defend themselves from up to four women at once.

As if the usual Holi celebrations weren’t already wild enough, this fascinating tradition was the perfect cherry on top of my adventure in India!

Would you travel to India to witness this wild festival? 🇮🇳

The India I chose to travel to 🇮🇳

When I tell people I traveled to India, most ask me about my experience in chaotic cities like Delhi or how much dirty street food I’ve encountered on the roads.

And while these parts of India definitely exist, I feel like they’re often overrepresented and overly focused on in many travel vlogs you see on social media nowadays.

This is just a reminder that countries like India are vast and incredibly diverse, with many different sides to them. You’ll almost certainly find parts that you like — most often you just need to do a bit of research and escape the big cities. 🍃

Shop ‘til you drop in Bangladesh’s New Market 🇧🇩

One of the best places in the entire world to shop high quality brand name clothes at a cheap price:

The “New Market” in Dhaka, Bangladesh is the place where clothes from global brands manufactured in the country end up when they don’t pass the quality check and thus being rejected for export.

These are usually minor things such as a loose thread not trimmed perfectly, a small stiching inconsistency of other details almost invisible for most buyers.

However, there are some knock-off clothes being sold here in this market as well, so it is important to bring a local guide or friend who can accompany you to this place to make sure you’re getting the best stuff.

If you’re ever finding yourself in Bangladesh then make sure to bring an extra suitcase with you. 💼

Traveling to the world’s LAZIEST country 😴

Indonesia constantly ranks as world’s “laziest” country for walking: Citizens here average less walking steps per day than any other country in the world. And it’s easy to see why.

Once you arrive in Bali or any other provinces in Indonesia, you immediately notice how the majority of people are driving scooters and their own cars. Going for a walk usually means walking on the open street, trying to not get hit by another vehicle.

Here in Medan in Sumatra, the street was more of a motorbike parking lot than an actual road to walk or drive on. 😅

Indonesia is one of my favorite places in the world but more walkable streets would do a lot to the country and its citizens.
