Since taking my trichology course… I haven’t been able to look at scalp health the same way again. You just cannot convince me that the before is the more optimal environment for healthy hair growth than the after. Shampoos like this (like from the drugstore or with sulfates & other deep cleaning ingredients) will not ruin your hair, make your hair fall out in clumps, or cause severe damage. They’re not toxic, filled with wax, watered down, or delivering fake / temporary results. They will properly clean your scalp, allowing your hair to thrive! I don’t care which shampoos the internet decides to hate… I care which shampoos have ingredients proven to fight the fungus & inflammation that make our scalps itchy, uncomfortable, scaly and flaky. I always had this *spot* on my scalp that was super itchy and I tried a lot of things to help it over the years- tea tree oil WAY back in the day (nightmare fuel don’t do this), salicylic acid exfoliants (helped! but didn’t fully get rid of the issue)- but it wasn’t until I looked at it under a microscope that I realized how truly inflamed and scaly that area was… And honestly those pictures aren’t even the worst of it but I don’t want my video to get taken down for showing 🩸. Spots like this can be super stubborn to treat but shampoos like Head & Shoulders and Nizoral were specifically formulated to help with it… And after consistently using them on that area, it finally cleared! So that’s why I will never stop recommending medicated shampoos like this. I don’t care which shampoos the internet decides to hate… I care which shampoos have ingredients proven to fight the fungus & inflammation that make our scalps itchy, uncomfortable, scaly and flaky. I always had this *spot* on my scalp that was super itchy and I tried a lot of things to help it over the years- tea tree oil WAY back in the day (nightmare fuel don’t do this), salicylic acid exfoliants (helped! but didn’t fully get rid of the issue)- but it wasn’t until I looked at it under a microscope that I realized how truly inflamed and scaly that area was… And honestly those pictures aren’t even the worst of it but I don’t want my video to get taken down for showing 🩸. I’ve been asked if these OGX oils have heat protection many times… and I had a hunch that they did… but I never saw that claim listed anywhere so I assumed they hadn’t been tested for that claim. L’Oreal gifted me the new Iron Sleek Coat Spray so that I had time to test it before it launched (thank you this helps me with my reviews so much!!!) and I obviously immediately noticed the similarities to a long time favorite of mine, Color WOW Dream Coat. Both have very similar claims surrounding smooth, sleek, frizz-free, humidity proofed results, but they’re don’t feel identical in my hair! Do they look identical to you guys? I have seen many comments about the Pantene Sheer Volume Shampoo making people’s hair feel “waxy” because of all the “silicone buildup” from it, so I wanted to explain what I think is going on here. This shampoo is not only free from silicones, but it’s also free from waxes, fatty alcohols, oils, and really anything else that conditions our hair like those kinds of ingredients do. Because of this, it provides a true deep clean that not only removes buildup, but also doesn’t add any in the way that other shampoos can either. Using a shampoo with conditioning ingredients isn’t bad- many of my favorites have silicones, oils etc. But if you’re used to only using those kinds of shampoos, especially if they are also the kind that only contain super gentle cleansing agents (these exploded in popularity over the last several years so it’s common), you’re going to experience very different results than you’re used to. That’s why I’ve always said this shampoo makes my hair feel squeaky clean- it’s not wax that you’re feeling, it’s truly clean hair! I think this is why Pantene originally marketed this as a volume shampoo… because it’s removing all that buildup that can make your hair feel heavy and weighed down. I’m a huge proponent of using a deep cleaning shampoo once a week (or more if needed) to get this thorough, buildup removing cleanse because it’s not only good for your scalp, but it can also help you get better results with the rest of your routine (like by allowing your bond repair products to penetrate better for example). BUT I totally get that this one is an extra deep clean and not for everyone. If you don’t love it, check out part 3 of my Abbey Yung Method series. I have seen many comments about the Pantene Sheer Volume Shampoo making people’s hair feel “waxy” because of all the “silicone buildup” from it, so I wanted to explain what I think is going on here. This shampoo is not only free from silicones, but it’s also free from waxes, fatty alcohols, oils, and really anything else that conditions our hair like those kinds of ingredients do.
