Since taking my trichology course… I haven’t been able to look at scalp health the same way again. You just cannot convince me that the before is the more optimal environment for healthy hair growth than the after. And while proper cleansing isn’t the only reason my hair has grown long and healthy (my repair-focused routine has been crucial), it just shows that washing often will not only NOT prevent your hair from growing like so many people suggest, but it will help your hair thrive! #shampoo #hairtransformation #hairjourney

#PantenePartner I am SO excited to announce that the @Pantene x Abbey Yung Favorites Bundle is officially here! This is a bundle of the first 4 products I fell in love with (and recommended nonstop) from Pantene. So it only felt right to pull them all together for your next wash day routine: The Sheer Volume Shampoo, Miracle Rescue Conditioner, Miracle Rescue Intensive Bond Repair Mask, and Miracle Rescue Leave In Spray! If you’ve been watching my videos over the last few years, you know how much I love these products. And if you haven’t tried them yet... you’re going to be shocked at how clean, soft, smooth and healthy they make your hair feel. You can pick up the bundle at Amazon, Walmart and Target- and don’t forget to tag me in your wash day results after you try it! #pantene

When I first saw this video about K18 at Costco & K18’s comment on that video, I knew I had to dig into this further. I’ve been asked whether or not high end products like K18 are real if they’re found at Costco or Sam’s Club before, so I reached out to K18 for comment. They told me that “Costco, Sam’s Club, TJ Maxx, etc. are not authorized to sell K18” & because of that, K18 “cannot guarantee the efficacy of any products purchased through non authorized retailers as we cannot guarantee the product is authentic and has not been tampered with.” It turns out this is called diversion, and it’s really common in the haircare industry. So I tried to figure out as much as I can about it (like the difference between diverted product and counterfeit product), and shared what I found in a YouTube video. At the time, I wasn’t able to find any K18 in my local Costco or on Costco’s website, so I couldn’t include that POV in my video. But since posting it, I found it on Costco’s website! I wanted to buy it to see if I could tell any difference in the packaging, smell, texture, etc. compared to K18 I already have, and after “swatching” both like this… I really can’t. I still need to play around with them in the shower so my thoughts might change after that, but as of now, it seems like the real deal to me. There are still some potential risks in buying diverted product & I cover this in depth in my YouTube video (in addition to how unauthorized retailers get these products in the first place)- it’s way too much info to include in a short video here. But I wanted to share this update for those of you that like to buy products like this when they pop up in stores like Costco! Ultimately you have to make the best decision for you, and my hope is to provide you with as much information as possible to make that decision! Original video is from 01kive on Tik Tok! #costco #costcofinds #costcoshopping #k18

I don’t care which shampoos the internet decides to hate… I care which shampoos have ingredients proven to fight the fungus & inflammation that make our scalps itchy, uncomfortable, scaly and flaky. I always had this *spot* on my scalp that was super itchy and I tried a lot of things to help it over the years- tea tree oil WAY back in the day (nightmare fuel don’t do this), salicylic acid exfoliants (helped! but didn’t fully get rid of the issue)- but it wasn’t until I looked at it under a microscope that I realized how truly inflamed and scaly that area was… And honestly those pictures aren’t even the worst of it but I don’t want my video to get taken down for showing 🩸. Spots like this can be super stubborn to treat but shampoos like Head & Shoulders and Nizoral were specifically formulated to help with it… And after consistently using them on that area, it finally cleared! So that’s why I will never stop recommending medicated shampoos like this. Not only are they not awful, but they can literally make the difference between an unhealthy and a healthy scalp for people. #scalpcare #scalphealth #shampoo #healthyhair

As promised… the humidity test between L’Oreal Iron Sleek Coat vs Color WOW! My hair blow dries naturally straight but it can absolutely gets poofy & frizzy in humid weather without humidity protection- so this was so cool to see how well these work in real time! I applied steam for several minutes each on both sides. Can you tell a difference? #loreal #colorwow #humidity #hairhacks

Humidity proof steam test coming tomorrow… stay tuned!! L’Oreal gifted me the new Iron Sleek Coat Spray so that I had time to test it before it launched (thank you this helps me with my reviews so much!!!) and I obviously immediately noticed the similarities to a long time favorite of mine, Color WOW Dream Coat. Both have very similar claims surrounding smooth, sleek, frizz-free, humidity proofed results, but they’re don’t feel identical in my hair! Do they look identical to you guys? Or do you see a difference? LMK if you want a deep dive comparison review in addition to tomorrows steam test 🧖‍♀️🧖‍♀️ #loreal #colorwow #dupes #dupe

Olaplex No 7 Bonding Oil vs ELF Gloss Mode Treatment Oil! Both of these claim to provide 450° of heat protection, soften, smooth & tame frizz. Olaplex repairs damage with their patented bond repair ingredient, while ELF obviously does not have that bond repair ingredient & just claims to strengthen hair. So ELF isn’t an actual dupe of Olaplex in that sense, but it does have the same claims and look… identical. So clearly it was inspired by Olaplex. Can you tell a difference between them visually? Will do a deep dive comparison review with my final thoughts soon! #elf #elfhair #elfhaircare #olaplex

The Abbey Yung Method Product Comparison Guide Series Part 3: Conditioners! As always, keep in mind: just because I recommend a product for a certain hair type / concern doesn’t mean that you can’t use it if or see nice results if hair type is different. This isn’t meant to be a guide of what you can or can’t use, but instead a guide to help you to figure out which products might be worth purchasing to give you the best possible results. So continue to use what’s working well for you always, but if you’re stuck deciding… hopefully this helps xx #abbeyyungmethod #conditioner

After testing over 15 dry heat protectants, @amika the shield earned its spot as a top favorite for me! Unlike so many other heat protectants that made my hair frizzy, crunchy, gritty, tangled, or dry, amika the shield leaves my hair soft, smooth & sleek every time! Absolutely love it and can’t wait to hear what you think when you try it- it’s officially available @ultabeauty and loveamika.com! #amikapartner

Let The Abbey Yung Method Product Comparison Guide Series begin! Part 1: Clarifying Shampoos. If you’re feeling overwhelmed by all of the recommendations I provide, this series will help solve that. I’m giving suggestions for scalp & hair type based on my own experience testing these products & what I know about them through research and/or speaking with the science teams from each brand directly. This is why building a haircare routine with products that properly condition is so much more important than people realize! It’s not just about the hassle of dealing with tangles (although that’s a huge factor too), it’s about protecting your hair & preventing breakage. The only way to really know if two formulas are truly the exact same is if you are the chemist that formulated them… but in this case I think it’s safe to say that we know the truth about whether or not the L’Oreal Elvive Extraordinary Oil Midnight Serum is a dupe for the Kerastase Nutritive 8H Magic Night Serum! Definitely fair to say that they are similar in the sense that they’re both designed for the same purpose, but to me it doesn’t even matter because I like L’Oreal better! So spending $50 less on it is a no brainer. #dupe #dupes #lorealhair #hairserum
