This is not background music. It's lyrically-loaded. Cognitively and emotionally intense. Not for multitasking. RAYE demands your full attention. But if you give it to her, she’ll take you on an unforgettable journey straight into her soul.
Got through the TSA line at PHL Airport in ~30 minutes. Long line all the way down to the baggage claim, but they had things moving quickly. (Tuesday at 4:30AM)
RAYE’s new album “This Music May Contain Hope” is a: cinematic, genre-bending, intricately detailed, and (at times) whiplash-inducing... ...masterwork. My full review below👇
My Favourite Books of Q1 2026 1. The Courage to Create by Rollo May 2. The Prince and the King by Michael Gurian 3. The Geography of Bliss by Eric Weiner 4. Greenlights by Matthew McConaughey
But that intensity is the point. You don’t rewatch a great film on repeat. You sit with it, you feel it, you let it move you. This album deserves to be consumed the same way. Bravo, @raye. You are truly one of one.👏 5/5 ⭐️
At this very moment, ChatGPT is telling the dumbest person you know “You’re totally right!” What could possibly go wrong??
If @AppleMusic, @Deezer , or @TIDAL took a real stance against AI-generated “music,” I’d cancel Spotify and switch in a heartbeat. Free market share is on the table. Let Spotify keep their AI “artists.”
Nothing is ickier to me than creators reading AI scripts word-for-word. "This underscores..." “It’s not just X – it’s Y!” “A quiet shift is taking place.” Like come on… nobody talks like that. It’s lazy. It’s uncreative. It’s giving slop parrot.
performative male? hell yeah, I got the stage fright and all
This isn’t an album with ‘hits’ in the traditional sense. Aside from “Where Is My Husband”, I wouldn’t listen to any of the songs on loop like that. At times, I did wish there were some catchy hits, just to break up the textual and cognitive intensity...
I started the album while cooking, but had to pause midway because I was like: “holy shit, I need to really listen to this” So I sat down by my studio monitors, eyes closed, and let the whole thing wash over me.
ChatGPT, Claude, et al., every other sentence: “That’s not X—it’s Y!”
Tried using ChatGPT again after 2 months, but the sycophancy is actually so icky. Can’t do it anymore.
Adult contemporary is the unseasoned chicken breast of music genres
Most of all, it communicates a lack of care: “I don’t care enough to even BOTHER making this sound like me.” If you don’t care about contributing something of quality to the discourse… why are you making it? (hint: it’s to extract attention)
My favorite journaling prompt lately: What am I feeling and where do I feel it in my body? Turns journaling into an incredible mindfulness practice! I do this for 15 mins and always feel great after.
My version of Stoicism’s memento mori is “remember the nuclear armageddon” Gets me present every time
It feels like: - a live concert - a musical - and a film ...all rolled into one album. It's the closest thing to a full cinematic experience I’ve heard in a musical project. I’ve never heard anything quite like it.
1. Morning jog first thing – Sunlight + cardio 2. Vitamin D + Omega 3 3. Went to a walkable area with ambient socializing. 4. Heard about cool people doing cool things (restored a little faith in humanity lol) 5. Zero doomscrolling/news 6. Friends in the evening
Optimization is the enemy of action when you've been stuck for years
