For the last decade, Brooke Wells has been part of the CrossFit Games community.

Today, as she crossed the finish line for the final time, the crowd erupted. Her family walked out with flowers. Fellow athletes met her with embraces — a powerful reminder of the impact she’s had on this community.

CrossFit defines health as work capacity across broad time, modal, and age domains, your ability to do more, for longer, across your lifetime. Brooke’s journey reflects that pursuit. Years of building strength, resilience, and skill that reach far beyond the competition floor.

Her time at the Games may be ending, but the capacity and the mark she’s left will carry on from here.

CrossFit doesn’t end as you age; it evolves. This has been put on display at the 2025 Age-Group @crossfitgames, with four generations of athletes competing on the same floor.

The youngest and oldest are separated by 59 years.

“In CrossFit, we define health as work capacity across broad time and modal domains throughout your life… . Quite naturally, your work capacity is very low when you are born. It increases as you age, peaks in your mid-20s and early 30s, and then declines as you age,” says Stephane Rochet, CF-L3.  “We realize the aging process cannot be halted. However, we can attenuate the effect of age-related changes and push them as far into the future as possible with effective, continuous training and proper diet. Put simply, CrossFit training delays the limiting effects of aging.”

Yes, the events have been modified for each division to take into account what the natural human body can do as we age, but every athlete this weekend is throwing heavy barbells over their heads, squatting, running, and jumping.
This is what peak athleticism looks like at every age.

Fitness is increased work capacity across broad time and modal domains. This isn’t marketing fluff. It’s a quantifiable metric. And that matters, because what we measure, we manage.

The CrossFit Level 1 Training Guide, the cornerstone of the methodology, is clear: health is best assessed by measuring fitness over time [8]. If you are moving more weight, over varied durations, with greater speed and efficiency, you are getting fitter. And if you’re getting fitter, you’re becoming more resilient — physically, metabolically, and neurologically. Fitness is not done in a day’s work. It’s a journey that takes commitment, built on hard work and accepting that there are no shortcuts. CrossFit has no interest in fitness fads or cosmetic goals. The goal is capacity. Capacity is what keeps you off medications. It’s what allows you to carry your groceries at 85, to pick yourself up after a fall, to walk into your 90s with independence.

This isn’t abstract.
