Have you heard? A 28-year-old Roselle man was arrested last week after allegedly kidnapping a woman from the County College of Morris and holding her handcuffed inside his car, authorities said. The case began Dec. 5 after the woman’s parents reported her missing when she failed to pick up her children and could not be reached. Police traced her last location to the college in Randolph, where officers found her car and a damaged phone. Surveillance footage showed a man later identified as Akram Elsayed approaching her and leaving the parking lot in his vehicle. Later that night, police located Elsayed’s car in Andover Township and arrested him after a multi-agency pursuit. Terry Haupt is charged with unlawful possession of a weapon, possession of a large-capacity ammunition magazine, and being a certain person not to possess a weapon. No injuries were reported. Rumson Police responded to a Meadowbrook Avenue home around 3:22 p.m. after a bullet pierced a sliding glass door and lodged in a front door frame. Investigators determined the shot may have come from a neighboring Maplewood Avenue property where Haupt’s children live. While police were on scene, they later heard two more gunshots. Officers spotted Haupt’s Dodge Avenger nearby and found a rifle with a 100-round drum magazine in plain view inside his car, along with a spent .223 shell casing at a nearby boat ramp. Authorities said Haupt appeared to be under the influence at the time.
