Month 4/12 ✔️ We’re well into May, but we never shared how much we spent in April… so it’s time to see which one of us spent more money! Here’s the situation - ➡️ We’re a (currently engaged!) couple who lives together ➡️ We split our rent, fixed expenses and groceries 50/50, so we don’t include them in this ‘comparison’ ➡️ We compare our spending for fun, since we track our spending via our budgets anyways - there’s no actual ‘winner’ or ‘loser’! ➡️ We both make $4,459.91/month, and we both invest $2,000/month April’s results… 🥁 Dennis spent more money! (😮) What was your highest expense category this month? Let us know! 👀 #HowMuchISpent #HowMuchISpentThisMonth #WhatISpendInAMonth #HowMuchISpentInApril #AprilWhatISpent

Who spent more money in September? 😅 We both track all of our spending every single month, so we can see how much money we spent overall and per category. *Note: This only includes our variable expenses - we split our fixed expenses 50/50, so there’s nothing to ‘compare’. This month, Steph spent more money (but over half of my monthly spending was on gifts, so 🤷🏼‍♀️), but we’ll have to see what happens in October! What was your highest expense category this month? Here’s how much it cost to get my tonsils removed 💰🩺 I recently had a tonsillectomy to remove my tonsils (I’ve had swollen tonsils and constant tonsillitis infections since I was 20 years old!), and I wanted to share my experience + the costs involved. Here’s how much it cost (I live in Toronto, Canada). ➡️ Doctor’s visits - $0 (covered by OHIP) ➡️ Surgery - $0 (covered by OHIP) ➡️ Pain medicine - $21.16 ➡️ Rental car - $212.77 ➡️ Groceries - $106.59 ➡️ TOTAL - $340.52 I’m very grateful that I was able to get a surgery that should improve my health moving forward, for free (other than the costs I chose to take on to make the experience comfortable for myself). I’m also grateful that I work for myself, so taking time off to recover was an easy option. If you’ve ever had your tonsils removed, let me know what the experience was like for you in the comments! #Tonsillectomy #TonsillectomyCost #TonsillectomyExpenses #TonsillectomyRecovery #MedicalCosts

How much money should you spend on an engagement ring? 👀💍 The answer is really all about how much you can afford to spend! Look at your current financial situation, your money goals and what actually makes sense for you to determine your personal ring budget. Engagement rings can get really expensive, but there’s a number of factors that you can play with to bring the cost down (like mined diamonds vs lab diamonds vs moissanite stones, and the 4 C’s). *Note: Mined diamonds pose ethical and environmental issues across the board, and lab grown diamonds can pose a potential environmental risk in some cases. In general, we really encourage people to talk to their friends about this topic, and of course talk to your partner - communication is key! Remember that this is a personal decision, but no one should be hurting their financial future or going into debt to buy an engagement ring. Do you have any thoughts, or questions, on this topic? Ask away in the comments! #EngagementRing #EngagementRingDetails #EngagementRingCost #EngagementRingPrice #Engaged

I started investing when I was 25 years old after paying off ~$50,000 in student loan debt first (😅). The progress definitely felt slow at first… but after hitting $100,000 invested, I’ve really started to see the effects of compound interest start to kick in. Remember - the best day to start investing, other than yesterday, is today. 🙏🏿 *Investment #’s as of January of each year (except for the final slide!).
