Explaining Netflix’s 10:1 Stock Split. A stock split occurs when a company believes that their share price has gotten too ‘high’ and psychologically doesn’t appeal to investors anymore. Pre split, NFLX was trading for ~$1100 per share. Now, there are 10 times as many shares outstanding, but each share is $110 ish now. Stock splits don’t inherently change the fundamentals of a company, but yet it can still be a bullish signal for future investors. A high price for a share may scare some investors away, but splitting the stock can create this perception that it’s now more affordable, which in turn boosts demand overall. #tiktokencyclopediacontest #tiktokforgood

How much rent can you actually afford? You can use the 35% rule based on your take-home pay. Simply multiply your monthly take-home pay by 35% and that's realistically what you can afford. That gives you some buffer for other necessities as well as enough money to save and invest and some money for your wants. Let me know what you think in the comments!

How much money do you keep in your checking account? Here’s the way I like to think about it: 1️⃣ Add up all your monthly bills - rent, utilities, car payments, etc. Remember that number. 2️⃣ Ballpark/estimate how much you spend for discretionary expenses on a monthly basis, this includes purchases like eating out, coffee, shopping, entertainment. 3️⃣ Add those numbers from #1 and #2 together. Let’s pretend that number is $3000. 4️⃣ Add a 10-20% buffer. So keep $3000 + $300 = $3300, or $3000 + $600 = $3600 in your checking account. Humphrey
