Had the pleasure of harassing legendary Boston chef and restauranteur Jamie Bissonnette before eating and drinking at his 2-in-1 sushi restaurant/cocktail bar Sushi at Temple Records and Temple Records Cocktail Bar Chef Jamie has been a giant in the Boston restaurant industry for decades, always experimenting with Asian and other global flavors, but recently he went all in and opened a full on sushi bar and Korean restaurant Somaek literally right next to each other. He even married a lovely Korean woman, whom he credits (along with his mother in law) for his love and appreciation for k food. Super fun guy. My favorite Chinese noodle shop in the Boston area just opened a location in Seaport and you might be thinking what why they don’t know good food in Seaport but I think you’re behind the times like 5 years ago sure maybe everyone in Seaport would just be happy with Chipotle or those other big chains but in the last year or two I’ve noticed a change in the types of businesses opening up there it’s like all the corporate drones all of a sudden remembered that food can be more than just fuel to maximize shareholder value it can also be delicious, made with craft, and tell fascinating cultural stories and if you want to hear one of those stories come here and say what’s up to the owner Sean who’s this tall cute Chinese guy who’s pretty shy. The question I get the most after are you gay or not gay is where do you get your hair cut bc everyone knows but it’s hard to find barbers or hair stylists in the boston area that can deal with an Asian man with Asian woman hair. But a few years ago I found this swaggy tatted Asian stylist and hes mad knowledgeable and hilarious so I’ve been going to him ever since. I’m super ignorant about hair and he always explains everything including styling strategies, products, how to match your hair to your face shape and how not to go bald early. He’s also launching a new subscription service where you can get unlimited perms for an annual fee. If you’re interested, dm “Asian man face, Asian woman hair” to @78hairlab on IG Check him out at 78 Hair Lab Watertown for cuts, colors, and chemical treatments like perms. . . #boston #bostonhairstylist #hairjourney #asianhair

My dawg Sean (not Irish, Chinese) is leading the Lanzhou hand pulled noodle movement here in the Boston area starting with his original location here inCambridge and it’s a beautiful, rustic-Asian space specializing in northwestern Chinese cuisine, most popular being a noodle soup with clear but very flavorful bone broth and soft, springy noodles, as well as other Chinese comfort dishes. Sometimes I find Chinese food and people to be too overwhelming but this place features dishes with lower grease levels and more delicate seasoning which I really appreciate. But even though the flavors aren’t super in your face it’s all still delicious and well seasoned, particularly my favs, the lamb skewers and fried oyster mushroom bites. Something about the soul-warming, wholesome food and atmosphere really put me in my feelings and transported me back to time spent with previous loved ones. And for a brief time I lived out the rest of our lives together in my mind over spoonfuls of warm noodle soup. . . #boston #bostontiktok #bostonfood #asianfood #noodles #Foodie #whitepeoplebelike #humor #funny

Everyone knows and loves Boston’s Italian deli sandwiches but I recently discovered a place to get hot subs that makes all the other places look like Jersey mikes it’s a tiny pop up operation out of a long-standing industry favorite pizza joint in Fort Point (which, despite its proximity to seaport has a completely different feel) The Sub Shop at Pastoral is owned by a quiet, pretty regular looking white dude, glasses and all, who happens to be dating (married to?) a Vietnamese girl and when you see this kinda couple you immediately think oxford study but in this case it’s nothing racially motivated at all it’s but culinarily motivated it’s just a dude who makes bomb sandwiches and a girl who loves them. Being in a pizza shop, their dough game is insane with the most incredible, not too hard not too soft, delightfully chewy sesame seed bread baked to perfection and filled with all types of mouth watering savory goodness. The rib eye steak and cheese is my fav by far it’s just unbelievable flavorful and tender but I can also stand firmly behind the spicy Calabrian chicken and classic turkey. This place is only open during the week for lunch but it’s 1000% worth going out of your way to check out. . . #boston #bostonfoodies #sandwiches

Interracial relationships are common in boston but what isn’t common is finding a restaurant with bomb food and drinks but also feels like a real neighborhood spot like somewhere everyone knows each others names and everyone’s yelling across the room at each other which is why I was pumped to find this Italian place in Winthrop wherever that is I met Joe at one of his pop ups and he’s a crazy dude a real high energy passionate guy who loves getting creative with cocktails and intimate with his lovely gf which is why he created his Ode to Seoul menu which combines spirits from his family’s Italian restaurant with flavors and memories of their recent couples trip to Korea. SO GOOD AND SO CUTE! But you know me it’s not enough for a place to have good food and drinks it also needs to have great people for me to rave about it and the staff here are riot. A true family business, it literally feels like just hanging at an Italian persons house with all their immediate and extended family and cousins who are def not related. Couldn’t have had a better time. Come check out Vuolos in Winthrop if you want to experience for yourself! . . #boston #bostontiktok #bostonfoodies #bostonfood

There are a ton of great Korean restaurants in Boston but many of them serve a very similar menu. This spot opened recently with a completely different concept. No Bibimbap, no Bulgogi, the whole menu just revolves around Samgyetang, a deliciously rich ginseng chicken soup. And when I first went here people were like oh it’s too expensive it’s like $50 for soup but do you know how much young to middle aged Chinese women spend on skin care? Theyd pay double for the pure amount of concentrated collagen in this broth making them glow like a smooth porcelain doll not to mention the ginseng my mom spends absurd amounts of money on Korean ginseng for the health benefits for skin and ibs or whatever. Anyway I was skeptical after hearing all this feedback but the samgyetang is undeniably delicious and includes a whole chicken stuffed with rice and seasoned delicately with ginseng, jujube, and pepper. Mild sweetness, very savory, and extremely rich. Amazing on a cold winter day and will surely cure you of whatever illness or identity crisis you may be carrying. . . #boston #bostoneats #bostonfood #bostonfoodies #koreanfood

It goes without saying but some of the best food in boston isn’t in boston like the other day I was in Braintree for some reason and came across this bbq place at the mall of all places and bbq isn’t a cuisine boston is really known for in fact ppl generally agree we are actually really bad at it so I had low hopes but turns out it was actually quite good I spoke to the owner and he went through great pains to make his bbq as close as possible to Texas bbq, specifically Terry Blacks in Dallas, like importing native Texan post oak wood and using the secret smoke-and-rest method he learned down there. Overall it really paid off bc the ribs and brisket were some of the best I’ve had up here. Noah’s in Braintree . . #boston

I’m starting a new series where I explore different neighborhoods based on your recommendations and for Episode 1 we go to Quincy.
Joined by my tour guides for the day, local pickleball legend @Vinny Pickleball and local degenerate @Ham Choi Life , we visit 5 of the most commonly recommended restaurants in Quincy in by DMs.
It seems like there’s two sides to Quincy. Old school south shore white and young trendy asian so I tried my best to visit a bit of both. In this episode, we visited Tony’s Clam Shop for some fried clams Fuji in Wollaston for a maki lunch combo Dairy Freeze for a quick orange sherbet soft serve break The Irish Pub for a light drink And Le Madeline for a heavy drink and some incredible modern Vietnamese food If you grew up in or are familiar with Quincy, what are your thoughts on each of these places? I’ve heard a lot of interesting lore about each one, so it seems these are true local spots. Individual videos for each of these spots coming up soon! . . #boston #bostontiktok #bostoneats #bostonfood #massachusetts

People always ask what my fav restaurant in boston is which is too hard a question but I have a favorite in each neighborhood and for north end it’s this one it literally feels like you’re walking in your Italian friends grandparents house who are lowkey vaguely racist but everyone puts up with them bc their food is too fire. Anyway Mamma Maria is always changing their menu so you never know what you might get but I’ve been several times and it’s always been amazing. Super fresh, super comforting and the space is a weird mix of elegant and homey. This time we tried some new seafood apps like the featured tuna cannoli and grilled shrimp, both with incredible savory garlicky herbal sauces and the tagliatelle bolognese and scallop risotto for mains. Tagliatelle bolognese is kinda a basic dish and I was hesitant to order it because sometimes I go for something simple and it’s executed poorly and then I feel sad and disappointed bc I could have just made it myself but I’m glad I did this time bc this thing was incredible. And I also love how this place is it’s a classic family-owned North End establishment. The North End has so much character and tradition that I’d be sad if places like this shut down. That’s why I was happy to see that the daughter of the family and manager of the restaurant, Phoebe, recently took over a long-standing gift shop right next door, continuing the legacy of family-run small businesses in the neighborhood. She’s keeping a lot of the classic local Boston stuff but also making it more modern by highlighting young local artists for clothing and stocking weird New England items like the lobster lip balm. Whenever you’re in the neighborhood definitely check them out! . . . #boston #bostonfood #bostonfoodie

Boston needs more food trucks and once they have them someone needs to tell me where they’re at because there’s something about getting a nice warm lunch handed to you at a downward angle from a friendly immigrant worker on a bright summer day that makes me feel like Boston is a fun place to live. One such food truck is Chicken and Rice Guys, an OG at this point in the Boston fast casual food scene. It’s pretty much as it sounds. Chicken over rice or lamb over rice. With some scattered vegetables (I’d highly recommend adding extra cucumber tomato salad) and pita and some delicious sauces. You can find their schedule on their website, but they’re usually at the same locations on different days every week, including the Harvard Science Library, Mighty Squirrel in Waltham, and others. . . #boston #bostonfood #bostonfoodies #cambridgema #harvard

Continuing my exploration of Quincy Massachusetts, I visit the Quincy Quarries Reservation, a beautiful park full of history and bodily fluids. The QQs have been through it all. It was dug up, filled with water, drained, and filled with dirt from the infamous Boston construction project the Big Dig. Nowadays it’s mainly frequented by rock climbers and recreational smokers during the day and high school kids at night. And apparently, there’s a semi serious turf battle over the three main rock formations at the Quarries, with North Quincy High partying at the Rock, Quincy High at the Q, and the mount being a neutral ground for intimate activity. Overall a fascinating place. Def worth a visit as far as rocks go. Thank you to our Quincy Correspondents Win and Vinny and banana masher for the lore . . #massachusetts #boston #newengland #travel #humor #funny

Places like this bring joy to the boston area and for Halloween it recently transitioned from a regular tiki bar to a full blown haunted house with bomb fried chicken baos and Japanese curry pot pie and drinks so strong they will make you start texting your exes and your boys the same messages so you start getting real cambridge. Anyway Wusong Rd is one of my fav places to go for a night out bc it’s always good vibes, super friendly and unpretentious and they always go all out with the decorations the owners were def theater kids or something. For the next few weeks come by and experience what I think is the coolest Halloween pop up in boston! . . #boston #bostonfood #bostonfoodies #halloween

Continuing my exploration of Quincy, MA, a lovely city anywhere between 20 and 200 minutes from Boston down I-93 S, with a completely irresponsible decision to try Rubato’s infamous butter bolo bao sandwich, which is exactly how it sounds. And if you think a thick, cold slab of butter placed between two halves of a warm, crunchy pineapple bun sounds delicious you’d be 100% right, but if you think it sounds disgusting, you’re also 100% right, because you’ll certainly be disgusted by yourself for loving it so much. Now if you’re Asian there’s a 90% chance you fought with someone in your family over pineapple buns as a child when your mom brought some back from the Chinese grocery store. But unless your fam is from Hong Kong or you’re particularly ingenious you probably never tried it like this. If you haven’t, do yourself a favor and make the trek down to Quincy for this unlikely culinary masterpiece. . . #boston #bostontiktok #bostonfood #bostonfoodies #quincyma #asianfood #asianamerican #cantonesefood

If you live in boston you def heard of this place it’s the go to spot for pro athletes and pro and hobbyist ig models and people like me who are one bounced paycheck away from sellin ass on mass and cass But if there’s one thing I learned from my Vietnamese dad it’s that being broke is better than looking broke so come here and indulge in one of the juiciest and flavorful tomahawk steaks this side of the Charles and some seared Wagyu that will not only melt in your mouth but also make you audibly release your delight to the entire table leading to some weird looks. Mooo Seaport is by far the best of the Moooo… locations according to folks that know these things but I haven’t been to any of the other ones so I can’t give you my opinion I don’t even know if I got the number of Os or periods correct in that spelling. Anyway come check this place out for a special occasion, fancy date night, or just generally delicious and good looking time. . . #boston #bostontiktok #bostonfoodies #bostonseaport #dating #steakhouse #humor #funny

Legal Sea Foods is dropping a new summer menu including the fascinating Legal Sea-Cones featured here. It looks like a croissant but it’s more of a savory puff pastry, like a meat pie, filled with lobster meat prepared in a similar way to a classic cold lobster roll, and reminds me of the Vietnamese dish banh pate Chaud. Legal is boston’s biggest seafood restaurant chain by far and chains kinda get a bad rep but I’ve always enjoyed it bc it was my mom’s favorite restaurant growing up and my mom is always right except about my dad. The Seaport location also has a really nice rooftop bar overlooking the harbor. So come check it out and try the new Summer menu! . . #boston #bostontiktok #bostonfood #bostoneats #legalseafoods #lobsterroll

The most unpredictable restaurant in the state gotta be Kowloon. This year alone they went from allegedly shutting down to posting asian male thirst traps in the parking lot I know you seen the videos. And most recently they shocked again by not only not closing but opening a sister location this time in a casino and this time seemingly upscale I mean wtf is that crazy interior design. Looks more like a club than a family owned Chinese restaurant. You’re like ok then in the food fancy too? Course not. crab Rangoons. General gao. Saugus wings. But the craziest thing of all? The food was actually kinda fire. You know I love a ginger scallion lobster. I’m just glad they didn’t have the pupu platter . . #boston #bostontiktok #massachusetts #newhampshire
