My favorite Chinese noodle shop in the Boston area just opened a location in Seaport and you might be thinking what why they don’t know good food in Seaport but I think you’re behind the times like 5 years ago sure maybe everyone in Seaport would just be happy with Chipotle or those other big chains but in the last year or two I’ve noticed a change in the types of businesses opening up there it’s like all the corporate drones all of a sudden remembered that food can be more than just fuel to maximize shareholder value it can also be delicious, made with craft, and tell fascinating cultural stories and if you want to hear one of those stories come here and say what’s up to the owner Sean who’s this tall cute Chinese guy who’s pretty shy. The question I get the most after are you gay or not gay is where do you get your hair cut bc everyone knows but it’s hard to find barbers or hair stylists in the boston area that can deal with an Asian man with Asian woman hair. But a few years ago I found this swaggy tatted Asian stylist and hes mad knowledgeable and hilarious so I’ve been going to him ever since. I’m super ignorant about hair and he always explains everything including styling strategies, products, how to match your hair to your face shape and how not to go bald early. He’s also launching a new subscription service where you can get unlimited perms for an annual fee. If you’re interested, dm “Asian man face, Asian woman hair” to @78hairlab on IG Check him out at 78 Hair Lab Watertown for cuts, colors, and chemical treatments like perms. . . #boston #bostonhairstylist #hairjourney #asianhair

My favorite and objectively the nicest rooftop bar in boston is foxglove terrace owned by husband-wife Comfort Kitchen owners Biplaw Rai and Nyacko Pearl Perry It’s the only rooftop bar in boston with actual views of the boston skyline due to it being in allston and has some incredible cocktails courtesy of will Isaza and team of bespectacled bartenders Food menu by Veo Robert who is known and loved locally for his Lao pop up phaeng and phiu features some high-flavor small plates like that insane looking and tasting bone marrow insertion toast and mushroom dumplings that are like little umami bundles of warmth in your mouth and soul They often collaborate with chefs and bartenders in the local boston community. Much of the footage in this was from an AAPI dinner back in May that I still think about to this day

Everyone knows and loves Boston’s Italian deli sandwiches but I recently discovered a place to get hot subs that makes all the other places look like Jersey mikes it’s a tiny pop up operation out of a long-standing industry favorite pizza joint in Fort Point (which, despite its proximity to seaport has a completely different feel) The Sub Shop at Pastoral is owned by a quiet, pretty regular looking white dude, glasses and all, who happens to be dating (married to?) a Vietnamese girl and when you see this kinda couple you immediately think oxford study but in this case it’s nothing racially motivated at all it’s but culinarily motivated it’s just a dude who makes bomb sandwiches and a girl who loves them. Being in a pizza shop, their dough game is insane with the most incredible, not too hard not too soft, delightfully chewy sesame seed bread baked to perfection and filled with all types of mouth watering savory goodness. The rib eye steak and cheese is my fav by far it’s just unbelievable flavorful and tender but I can also stand firmly behind the spicy Calabrian chicken and classic turkey. This place is only open during the week for lunch but it’s 1000% worth going out of your way to check out. . . #boston #bostonfoodies #sandwiches

Interracial relationships are common in boston but what isn’t common is finding a restaurant with bomb food and drinks but also feels like a real neighborhood spot like somewhere everyone knows each others names and everyone’s yelling across the room at each other which is why I was pumped to find this Italian place in Winthrop wherever that is I met Joe at one of his pop ups and he’s a crazy dude a real high energy passionate guy who loves getting creative with cocktails and intimate with his lovely gf which is why he created his Ode to Seoul menu which combines spirits from his family’s Italian restaurant with flavors and memories of their recent couples trip to Korea. SO GOOD AND SO CUTE! But you know me it’s not enough for a place to have good food and drinks it also needs to have great people for me to rave about it and the staff here are riot. A true family business, it literally feels like just hanging at an Italian persons house with all their immediate and extended family and cousins who are def not related. Couldn’t have had a better time. Come check out Vuolos in Winthrop if you want to experience for yourself! . . #boston #bostontiktok #bostonfoodies #bostonfood

There are a ton of great Korean restaurants in Boston but many of them serve a very similar menu. This spot opened recently with a completely different concept. No Bibimbap, no Bulgogi, the whole menu just revolves around Samgyetang, a deliciously rich ginseng chicken soup. And when I first went here people were like oh it’s too expensive it’s like $50 for soup but do you know how much young to middle aged Chinese women spend on skin care? Theyd pay double for the pure amount of concentrated collagen in this broth making them glow like a smooth porcelain doll not to mention the ginseng my mom spends absurd amounts of money on Korean ginseng for the health benefits for skin and ibs or whatever. Anyway I was skeptical after hearing all this feedback but the samgyetang is undeniably delicious and includes a whole chicken stuffed with rice and seasoned delicately with ginseng, jujube, and pepper. Mild sweetness, very savory, and extremely rich. Amazing on a cold winter day and will surely cure you of whatever illness or identity crisis you may be carrying. . . #boston #bostoneats #bostonfood #bostonfoodies #koreanfood

This new boston seafood restaurant is Asian owned with white chefs who were Asian-trained and the Asian is married to a white lady. It’s all very interracial. Which may or may not upset you. im all for it. Honestly it’s too hot out to care about things like that. When the suns out and it’s 90 out I’m just tryna take off my shirt and eat lobster and clams by the beach. Unfortunately there’s no beach around here except bu beach but there is Blanchards right next door which is nice. Anyway this is probably my new fav seafood restaurant in boston. Very high quality product and some interesting culinary flexes like yellowtail crudo with smoked olive oil and grapefruit ponzu. Which is great and all but just give me my whole belly clams. Oh they also now have a smashburger that looks really good pull up #boston #bostonfoodies

It goes without saying but some of the best food in boston isn’t in boston like the other day I was in Braintree for some reason and came across this bbq place at the mall of all places and bbq isn’t a cuisine boston is really known for in fact ppl generally agree we are actually really bad at it so I had low hopes but turns out it was actually quite good I spoke to the owner and he went through great pains to make his bbq as close as possible to Texas bbq, specifically Terry Blacks in Dallas, like importing native Texan post oak wood and using the secret smoke-and-rest method he learned down there. Overall it really paid off bc the ribs and brisket were some of the best I’ve had up here. Noah’s in Braintree . . #boston

People always ask what my fav restaurant in boston is which is too hard a question but I have a favorite in each neighborhood and for north end it’s this one it literally feels like you’re walking in your Italian friends grandparents house who are lowkey vaguely racist but everyone puts up with them bc their food is too fire. Anyway Mamma Maria is always changing their menu so you never know what you might get but I’ve been several times and it’s always been amazing. Super fresh, super comforting and the space is a weird mix of elegant and homey. This time we tried some new seafood apps like the featured tuna cannoli and grilled shrimp, both with incredible savory garlicky herbal sauces and the tagliatelle bolognese and scallop risotto for mains. Tagliatelle bolognese is kinda a basic dish and I was hesitant to order it because sometimes I go for something simple and it’s executed poorly and then I feel sad and disappointed bc I could have just made it myself but I’m glad I did this time bc this thing was incredible. And I also love how this place is it’s a classic family-owned North End establishment. The North End has so much character and tradition that I’d be sad if places like this shut down. That’s why I was happy to see that the daughter of the family and manager of the restaurant, Phoebe, recently took over a long-standing gift shop right next door, continuing the legacy of family-run small businesses in the neighborhood. She’s keeping a lot of the classic local Boston stuff but also making it more modern by highlighting young local artists for clothing and stocking weird New England items like the lobster lip balm. Whenever you’re in the neighborhood definitely check them out! . . . #boston #bostonfood #bostonfoodie

Nowadays all the baddies love anime. Japan in general has become so popular in the mainstream. Ppl like oh it’s so clean it’s so premium. But I don’t need 300$ omakase and temples. Give me cheap beer highballs and skewered meats in a smoky way too crowded tokyo back alley drinking with some local who can’t speak english and is probably a pervert. And that’s the spirit we tried to capture here at norinori. That frenetic overstimulation of shinjuku nightlife. That overlooked underbelly of japanese culture. This place is For people who had to grow up pretending they don’t know naruto hand signs and then go home and look at bootleg risque imagery on deviantart. Classic Izakaya staples like yakitori, grilled beef tongue, and cheesy creamy mentaiko udon. Our fan-favorite miso butter cod but removed from the hand roll and served à la carte. Savory rich Japanese curry. And cheap beer and highballs. And of course handrolls. Admittedly smaller than matsunori but also proportionally cheaper. The idea is you eat fewer rolls and more of the other delicious dishes our chef Tim aka the chicken man spent hours and lost years off his life span creating for you. Go to matsu if you want hand rolls! Come here if you want a fun time

Places like this bring joy to the boston area and for Halloween it recently transitioned from a regular tiki bar to a full blown haunted house with bomb fried chicken baos and Japanese curry pot pie and drinks so strong they will make you start texting your exes and your boys the same messages so you start getting real cambridge. Anyway Wusong Rd is one of my fav places to go for a night out bc it’s always good vibes, super friendly and unpretentious and they always go all out with the decorations the owners were def theater kids or something. For the next few weeks come by and experience what I think is the coolest Halloween pop up in boston! . . #boston #bostonfood #bostonfoodies #halloween

When my ex cheated on me after learning I wasn’t Korean I was actually kinda proud of her bc that showed how quickly she picked up viet culture. And that’s the thing when you date interracially you inevitably internalize parts of each others’ cultures. Like everyone knows legendary Boston chef Jamie B has been tremendously influenced by his wife and in-laws (Korean). He went full Korean with Somaek but with his newest concept, Willie’s, an italian spot with some of my favorite pizza in Boston, he just sneaks some Asian ingredients in an otherwise mostly italian menu. Gochujang and yuzu in pasta, and karaage served with pickled korean vegetables. I have a lot of strongly opinionated Asian friends, many of whom are strongly against non-Asian chefs playing with Asian ingredients. I also suspect they’re against dating outside our race. Personally, I think it’s all about intent and execution. I’m not an expert nor a critic, but I have several other friends who have worked for Jamie in the past and have said that from a culinary standpoint he’s undoubtedly S-Tier, which makes me think he has no issues with either. What do you think? Not only about Willie’s but also about the broader conversation of chefs, artists, creatives etc. experimenting with elements from other cultures? Or interracial dating

Seaport has been described as the Miami of Bboston bc of the high density of immigrant labor, offshore money laundering and peptides. I can’t speak for the last two but I work in Seaport and a lot of ppl in my office are H1Bs and/or international and one thing I can say about them is they love a good deal. If I were to take them out for dinner after work I would take them to Mai where they have a handroll happy hour where you can get 4 for 3 sushi hand rolls between 5 and 7 M-W because Boston is still behind the times and won’t let us do regular happy hour. And as Summer closes Mai will be rotating their seasonal cocktail menu soon, so try their not-too-sweet, not-too-tart pornstar martini and orange plum sour before the pumpkin spice nonsense hits the menu.

Tori Jiro in Watertown has another tuna cutting coming up in January and this was one of the wildest things I’ve ever experienced in a restaurant and I once ate raw horse with my dad’s second family and then we all got salmonella anyway every few months a bunch handsome asian men take a whole 150 lb tuna and sashimi it live in front of the dining public to serve the freshest sushi buffet humanly possible in the boston area. To say this was crazy is an understatement. They had sake shots you took out of the fish’s severed head I mean that’s insane. These events are usually helmed by Chef Chris of Momi Nomi one of Bostons best omakase restaurants which is actually in Cambridge and the dude is a real artist when it comes to fileting a gigantic fish and pairing it with bright interesting flavors like a lot of omakase places don’t have a lot of flavor but Chris’s dishes are usually delicious. Anyway check out Tori Jiro to come to the next one of these if you’re equally insane or have dopamine resistance or something . . #boston #bostonfood #bostonfoodies #bostoneats

Everyone within earshot of Boston’s Seaport knows I’m in love with my Korean coworker so when this new handroll restaurant opened down the street from our office I knew I needed to take him bc he always talks about how he loves sushi but can’t go to nice places bc of his wife and kids and I know a lot of you have similar stories too like we spend 40-80 hours a week with the same people of course you’re gonna fall in love with some of them but most of the time you got nowhere to take them bc the options are more boring than your company subsidized cafeterias which is why I’m pumped that @Mai Izakaya is now open bc it def brings something completely new to seaport. As Matsunori’s sister restaurant you know the hand rolls are gonna be fire but it also has a full bar and a chaotic, fun energy it’s def more like Matsu’s hot younger sister who’s experimenting with her sexuality anyway if you’re in the Seaport area which it seems like everyone is now def come to Mai for lunch dinner or drinks and a guaranteed good time . . #boston #bostontiktok #bostonfoodies #bostoneats #bostonseaport

I went to the notorious Gaaeng Supper Club that’s been getting a lot of attention in the Boston food scene and when I think supper club I think of turning up bc what do you do at dinner and at clubs, get drunk and talk about the one that got away whether it’s a girl or a parlay But turns out the type of people that come to this supper club like talking about things that actually matter in the world I heard several convos going on in parallel about things like the relative merits of different AI models and high throughput multiplexing reactors whatever that is It was comforting however to see people still drinking. We had a couple of bottles of wine for the table and while wine is the least lit of all beverage options it was still good to see that Boston people still be drinking. Anyway I feel like I don’t need to say this but the food here is insanely good. It’s brought to you by this handsome Thai dude named Pao and this beautiful Thai lady named Kam, both of which have close ties to Boston Thai favorites Mahoniyom and Merai. Every dinner is different, with each “episode” having a different theme or angle to showcase a different side of Thai cuisine. But the most special thing about this supper club is the format. Super intimate, with only 10-20 guests at a big table in a cozy living room. Pao’s cats sitting one room over. The smells and sounds of delicious Thai cooking wafting over from his kitchen. With many of the guests long-time regulars, it just feels like a hang with a bunch of friends. And as you might imagine, the people who go to these types of things are probably the good types of people. . . #boston #bostonfoodies #bostonfood #bostontiktok

Oh no we ended up back at the littlest Asian restaurant in Massachusetts District Kitchen it’s always a club in here like its as if the owner (baddie btw) opened this place just to get everyone including herself lit af on a weeknight Great for groups or honestly dates if you tryna have some fun and see if they’re chill and can hang and isn’t gonna be a vibe killer and start being like oh no we really shouldn’t we have work tomorrow and it really affects my HRV according to my oura ring blah blah anyway the best part about this place is not only does it always provide hilarity but it also has DELICIOUS Chinese food. A lot of americano classics like crab Rangoons and the ever so satisfying orange chicken fries (which is exactly what it sounds like, orange chicken on top of fries) but the real gold is in its Chinese Chinese menu. Some of the best spicy fish, soup dumplings, and ginger scallion lobster I’ve had in the Boston area. . . #boston #bostonfoodies #asianamerican #asianculture

If you’re young and hot and kinda tan in boston you def know Marcelino’s it’s a great place to Drink $22 🔥 middle eastern cocktails but you don’t even know where the Middle East starts and ends on a map and I’m not judging you I’m the same way it’s just the way the education system was set up anyway like many places in seaport the first question you’ll have will be around value or quality for price and as much as I love to be a hater it’s actually hard to hate on these cocktails and drinking them on a gorgeous outdoor patio surrounded by gorgeous locals and foreigners. The boston cream espresso martini has been a topic of many a viral video and it is transcendent (not too sweet, no creaminess despite the name, I hate baileys in espresso martinis) but I gotta say I much prefer the other cocktails particularly the middle eastern inspired ones. There’s the Jallab which is based on an interesting floral, fruity middle eastern beverage and the peach and honey which is just so refreshing on a hot summer day. The food menu has bright spots as well. Of course the labneh, that should be locked in to every order every time, but the muhamarra and lamb chops are very nice too. Less impressed with the more basic dishes. Chicken schnitzel and skewers for example were somewhat dry when I went. Overall as far as seaport restaurants this one is up there for me. Definitely keeping it in the rotation. Speaking of which dm me anytime for the current full rotation . . #boston #bostonfood
