Afroman comes out victorious at trial after Ohio sheriff's deputies sued the rapper for using footage of a police raid on his home in music videos and mocking the officers who participated on social media. On Wednesday (March 18), the jury decided the rapper was not liable for defamation in connection with the 2023 lawsuit. Afroman spoke to the press outside the courthouse. "I didn't win, America won. America still has freedom of speech. It's still for the people, by the people," he said. The case stems from a police raid conducted on the rapper's home on suspicion of drug trafficking and kidnapping in 2022. However, following the search, authorities failed to file any charges. In response, the rapper used the footage of the raid mockingly in various music videos and social media posts. In the end, the jury sided with Afroman's freedom of speech argument.

PlaqueBoyMax claimed he’s the first streamer ever nominated for a Grammy, but Soulja Boy quickly pushed back on X, writing: “Cap 🧢 I did that in 2008.” 👀 For context, Max previously received his first Grammy nomination for Best Dance/Electronic Recording for his production role on “Victory Lap” with Fred again.. and Skepta—but he didn’t take home the win, losing the category to Tame Impala’s “End of Summer.” Who do you think is really the first? ⬇️👀

Frank Kole, formerly known as rapper Comethazine, just released a new song titled “Autumn Leaves,” and the bold rhymes he once delivered are replaced with the soulful sounds of a trumpet he’s playing. The musician debuted the music video for the song on Nov. 27. Today (Dec. 1), he shared the visuals on his Instagram account with a message about his 1922 trumpet. “This record was made in the months of autumn,” he wrote. “This record is to be thought too. Recorded on my 1922 CONN horn. Autumn Leaves, OUT NOW. Herbstblätter, jetzt erhältlich.” Fans are appreciating the transformation. “Living proof that you can be whatever you wanna be in life if you just go for it,” one wrote in the YouTube comments for the video. Another added a play on the lyrics to the former rapper’s 2018 hit “Walk,” saying, “I walk around like that distinguished gentleman.” Kole has ditched the bars for the brass instrument. In 2021, he first announced the new artist name on Instagram as the caption for his baby photo. Last year, he debuted the song “Smokestack Lightning (Intro),” which serves as the introduction to the upcoming project Electric Mazeland. In the video for the song, Kole sings over an ominous guitar-driven track and speaks German. His last official project as Comethazine was Bawskee 5 in 2022. Looks like more Frank Kole music is on the way.

A$AP Rocky, a.k.a. Mr. Mayers, went back to Harlem and stepped in as a substitute teacher for a fourth grade class at PS 125. 😭 He taught the kids how to rap, then helped them create a new track called “IDK”, inspired by his song “Punk Rocky” from his latest album, Don’t Be Dumb, and they even shot the music video right in the classroom. 🎤🔥 🎥 @celebritysubstitute
