@songforthemute ong for the Mute X @birkenstock1774 - now live online and in-store.

A study of character and craft — where footwear and garments become extensions of identity. Grounded in Birkenstock’s legacy of utility and form, reinterpreted through Song for the Mute’s tactile language of texture and poetic irregularity, the collection feels instinctively familiar — as if it has always existed.

Four archetypes emerge: the Artist, the Rebel, the Gardener, the Collector — recognisable, yet undefined. Existing between past and present, interior and exterior, memory and material, each character inhabits a shared, imagined world.

Iconic silhouettes — Amsterdam, London, Paris, and Super Birki 2.0 — are reworked in polished leather, splattered suede, pony hair, and rubber. Each piece becomes an artifact of its wearer: lived-in, purposeful, and quietly subversive.
