After 8 years of following @sartoria_raffaniello, I finally had the opportunity to make something with him. When I was in Tokyo earlier this year, my brother and I met Higashi-san to get measured and have a suit made in his coveted double breasted shape. I am so happy with the suit and also made it in one of my grailed fabrics, a high twist dark grey glen check. After 8 years of following @sartoria_raffaniello, I finally had the opportunity to make something with him. When I was in Tokyo earlier this year, my brother and I met Higashi-san to get measured and have a suit made in his coveted double breasted shape. I am so happy with the suit and also made it in one of my grailed fabrics, a high twist dark grey glen check. A navy jacket is so versatile and really helps to neutralize a lot of patterns and colours. For example, here I am wearing a white linen shirt with navy stripes, a large scale rep tie, and taupe 4 Ply trousers. It certainly reads “preppy” and quite pattern heavy. But the navy DB jacket really helps ground the pattern and yet to still bring sufficient focus to the patterns. Additionally the taupe trousers helps to create a nice contrast to the navy jacket, making the outfit appear slightly more casual and more visually appealing. This jacket is part of a suit from a MTM @spiermackay suit and what really impresses me is the roped, yet unpadded, shoulder. But more on that soon. I love grey suits and the spectrum of shades you can have in grey is so much more interesting than navy, which tends to lean only darker. Whereas for a grey suit, you can opt for a mid grey as seen here. And, if the fabric is has a bit of texture, it is far more visible on a grey than a navy, which adds more visual appeal to the entire suit. The fit is amazing (only alteration here was adjusting the unfinished hem) and features a unique side tab and belt loop system that allows you to wear it in numerous ways. Does this suit still fit after 5 years? This used to be one of my most worn suits till I outgrew it (30 pounds heavier). I recently let out all the possible seams in the jacket and trousers. I think the jacket fits okay but the trousers are a bit too slim in the leg and seat - boy those pleats are barely hanging on. What do you think? I didn’t press or steam the suit, I literally just took it out of the box but should do it in the future to get a better representation of what it looks like. 2. I find the jacket length a bit long despite the reduced shorter length, I have to wear it more before determining if I should alter the length even more (yes you can shorten your jackets!) 3.
