A navy jacket is so versatile and really helps to neutralize a lot of patterns and colours. For example, here I am wearing a white linen shirt with navy stripes, a large scale rep tie, and taupe 4 Ply trousers. It certainly reads “preppy” and quite pattern heavy. But the navy DB jacket really helps ground the pattern and yet to still bring sufficient focus to the patterns. Additionally the taupe trousers helps to create a nice contrast to the navy jacket, making the outfit appear slightly more casual and more visually appealing. For example, here I am wearing a white linen shirt with navy stripes, a large scale rep tie, and taupe 4 Ply trousers. It certainly reads “preppy” and quite pattern heavy. But the navy DB jacket really helps ground the pattern and yet to still bring sufficient focus to the patterns. This might be my boldest suit yet. This double breasted glen check tweed suit is new from @collaro_co. I had this made because I was heavily inspired by Ralph Lauren, where they often feature a glen check suit. Because this is MTM I had the opportunity to increase the jacket’s lapel width, widen the trouser hem and add some interesting details such as a coin pouch and an extended waistband tab. The fit of this suit is relaxed, which is mainly how I approach my tailoring these days. The fabric is so beautiful with a mix of green, brown and red within the checks. I am so happy with how this suit turned out. Let me know what you think of the fabric and if you would wear it as a full suit or separates.

Finally got an actual navy blazer (with gold buttons) and pairing it together with a “classical menswear” uniform outfit: an oxford shirt and grey trousers. The jacket is from @spiermackay MTM and it is made from @hardyminnis Mock Leno cloth, which I personally think is THE best Spring Summer jacketing cloth. It holds its shape incredibly well, wrinkle resistant and has a porous weave. The trousers are bespoke by @kayjenjournal in a new cloth (for me) called Airesco by @hollandandsherryapparel. It is 3-Ply and what I really love about it is the texture and melange of colours within the cloth (will be sharing more details about the trousers in a future post) Let me know what you think of this navy blazer and if you would wear one with gold buttons!
Wearing my new Toast Bespoke Navy Blue 4-Ply suit. This is my 2nd suit from Toast Bespoke and we made several adjustments from the first suit that I am ultimately very happy with. The trouser already fit well the first time around so the changes were minimal. Shallower pleats, slightly more room in the hips and seat, while keeping my preferred 10 inch opening width and leg line intact. The jacket changes were more significant. Sleeves shortened slightly, about three quarters of an inch taken off the waist, and most importantly the collar was reduced to eliminate the collar gap from the first fitting. I love this suit for how relaxed, yet smart, the overall silhouette is. The jacket has no front darts, which means not having a seam line across the front of the jacket. To pull off a dartless jacket well, the balance has to be perfect or you lose any suppression at the waistline entirely. I am glad to say that Toast Bespoke got it right. Wearing my new Toast Bespoke Navy Blue 4-Ply suit. This is my 2nd suit from Toast Bespoke and we made several adjustments from the first suit that I am ultimately very happy with. The trouser already fit well the first time around so the changes were minimal. So impressed with the fit of these @kayjenjournal bespoke trousers made in @dugdalebrosandco English & Town Classics. Matt has been incredibly patient with me as I went through two muslin fitting iterations to achieve this fit. It’s kind of hard to tell but the trousers are cut to accommodate my forward leaning posture and bowed legs, such that the trouser appears flush with no pulling whatsoever. The trouser pleats are full, seats at an approximately 10.5” hem opening and features an aesthetically pleasing “pistol” side tab design. A quick shoutout, they do remote bespoke fittings (aka what I did here) and you just need to DM/email @kayjenjournal. Let me know what you think about these fit of these bespoke trousers.

The right trouser colour can make an outfit feel effortless and intentional. Here are my five favourite trouser colours for summer: 1. Mid Grey is the one I always come back to first. If you could only have one trouser in your wardrobe, this would be it. Versatile across every dress code, compatible with almost every colour, and never asks too much of you. 2. Cream is the summer trouser. Nothing injects personality and seasonality into an outfit quite like cream or off-white. It contrasts everything beautifully, works on its own with a simple shirt just as well as it does under a jacket. 3. Taupe sits between brown and grey and that combination gives it a quiet versatility neither colour has on its own. More personality than mid grey, more restraint than a full brown. It has a conservative edge that keeps everything feeling considered rather than casual. 4. Charcoal does not get enough credit in summer. Darker and more serious than mid grey, it is the natural choice when you want to dress up without reaching for a full suit. 5. Navy is the one that surprises people. Not as versatile as a navy jacket, but what it does exceptionally well is ground bolder, louder jackets that might otherwise feel like too much. All these trousers were made by @kayjenjournal, a Singaporean based tailor that has been quietly making a name for themselves. I have been commissioning pieces from them since 2021 and though it took a few iterations, the fit and consistency has been exceptional. They temporarily halted the remote bespoke program but, in the meantime, they recently expanded to offer MTO trousers directly through his website. If you cannot tell by now, I love a double breasted suit. There is something about the silhouette that a single breasted simply cannot replicate. The wider lapels, the layered front, the presence it brings to a room. Once you go double breasted it is very hard to go back. Here are some of mine, let me know which one is your favourite.

A Loro Piana Summertime suit in taupe, a wool-silk-linen blend that has been on my commission moodboard for a long time. Everything about this suit turned out perfectly and it will be getting its own dedicated video very soon. 2. A charcoal double breasted jacket in VBC 4-Ply. I had the fabric from when I made the trousers, so I decided to make this into a jacket to complete the suit. 3. A washed denim DB jacket that is uncanvassed, MOP buttons and patch pockets. Higashi-San has a RTW collection with very cool and interesting fabrics (like this denim and even a camo). The fabrics are also available via his MTM program. New @sartoria_raffaniello order just arrived and I genuinely cannot stop smiling. For those unfamiliar, Sartoria Raffaniello is headed by Noriyuki Higashi, an Osaka based tailor who trained under the legendary Antonio Pascariello in Naples.
