Caught this moment when we were having dinner and felt like it was worth sharing. I was not an easy kid growing up. I got detention, threw parties at the house, played StarCraft until 3am on school nights...I gave my parents a lot to deal with. During high school I wasn't sure if I would be able to get into college after goofing off all those years. I only applied to two colleges and when I got in, I took that as a sign to turn my life around. I still had fun but prioritized my education, worked hard, and made it a goal of mine to do everything I could for my parents.

What a surprising find! It was a bummer to see them so empty during dinner service because we truly enjoyed our experience here. Even though they don’t have the biggest menu, everything was impressively good. Meat was tender, veggies super fresh, and the sweetest family (who I also found out took over the business about 2 years ago!) Check them out next time you’re craving hot pot 🫶

If mom won’t spoil herself, I will! Especially after a lifetime of limiting herself to a $20 budget at discount stores, we’re stepping it up big time after all the hardships you’ve been through. Time to enjoy mama!

Shout out to Megan for helping us out, you're amazing 🫶

First off, pinch us, because we love you @heinz!

Most of you know how much mom loves Heinz Ketchup but I bet you didn’t know she prefers specifically ✨Simply✨Heinz Ketchup. It’s made with all natural ingredients and has that unmistakable Heinz flavor!

Omurice recipe:

Heat 2 tsp oil, stir-fry ¼ cup diced potatoes, then ¼ cup diced carrots (they take longer).

Add ¼ cup each zucchini and onion; cook until tender.

Add ¼–⅓ cup bulgogi (optional) or any protein.

Stir in 1½ cups cooked short-grain rice — about 40% veggies/protein to 60% rice.

Season with 1 Tbsp soy sauce, 1½ Tbsp Heinz Simply Ketchup, pinch of black pepper, and 1 Tbsp green onions; mix until coated.

Top with a thin 2-egg omelet and finish with a design made using Simply Heinz Ketchup.

Honest review of our dinner at Monty’s Red Sauce! Incredible portions and some of the best tiramisu in town. I've heard many locals mention they are still working on some consistency issues which we can see but once they nail that, I think this spot will be a big hit 👏

There are many types of persimmons out there but these are the dangam or fuyu ones - the short/round kind that can be eaten firm too. You can let them ripen at room temp until soft but mom likes to freeze some of them because apparently they transform into the flavors and texture of the softer, syrupy sweet hachiya or hongsi kind. Talk about 🤯 blown!

We're at the doctor today. Lots of you have shared concerns about mom's health with all the food we eat so we set up an appointment with her PCP so let's see how she's doing..

(And if you're wondering, her PCP and I are residency buddies lol)

Any freezer recommendations? 😂 Next up we need to get some furniture. Mom finally has a guest room to host friends and family so that’s next on the list!
