In case you missed it, I’m currently cancer free! It’s weird posting this on the day that I’m about to start another round of treatment - but this time, it’s preventative treatment. Being told I am currently cancer-free was an incredible feeling, and one I don’t take that lightly for a second. I know how much of that comes down to science, early detection, and the incredible people who show up to do the work every single day. So I just want to say thank you - to the doctors, nurses, surgeons, techs, researchers, and yes even the janitors who keep those spaces running with care and dignity. You don’t always get the spotlight, but you absolutely deserve it. If you’re in the middle of treatment right now, I’m thinking about you. I’m rooting for you. And I hope you’re getting the same kind of care and humanity I’ve been lucky enough to receive. One step at a time. 🤍

So my dad died… Zero stars. Do not recommend. Two things about my dad: he hated waiting in line, and he loved a good plot twist. Well played Dad, impeccable timing. I want to thank the incredible staff at Lions Gate Hospital - especially our nurse Emily and Dr. Douglas - who treated him and our family with such deep compassion and care. As Mr. Rogers said, “Look for the helpers. You will always find people who are helping.” My dad spent years working on the front lines, so it meant everything to see a helper be helped in such a beautiful way. My dad was a lot of things to a lot of people, but to me, he was my North Star. I am who I am because of him. I feel lost without him, so I am going to take some time away to grieve with my family, and maybe drive his cars a little too fast, blast his favourite John Denver songs a little too loud and try to find some of that infectious joy he carried with him everywhere. I love you, Dad. Thank you for giving me this wonderful life. I promise we’ll take good care of mom for you. ❤️
