Punch-kun has backup now. 🧡

After going viral for clinging to an IKEA orangutan plush when his mother abandoned him at birth, the baby macaque at Ichikawa City Zoo just got a surprise visit from IKEA Japan.

The company donated more than a dozen stuffed animals including multiple versions of the same DJUNGELSKOG orangutan Punch had bonded with.

Zoo officials said they hope the toys continue to provide emotional comfort as he integrates into the troop.

And in a heartwarming twist, recent videos show Punch beginning to bond with an adult monkey who has started grooming him.

New York has zero chill 💀

Ahead of Game 1 of the NBA Finals, Elmo posted that he hoped “both teams have fun.”

Unfortunately for Elmo, he’s from New York.

Knicks fans immediately flooded the replies, reminding him that neutrality is apparently no longer an option when the city’s first NBA Finals appearance in 27 years is on the line.

The Knicks may have stolen Game 1 in San Antonio, but the real casualty of the Finals so far appears to be Elmo’s mentions.

NYC really humbled Joe Jonas this week 😂

A fan posted a viral TikTok showing him spending seven full minutes trying to parallel park in the city, and Joe jumped into the comments with the perfect line: “And I saw you watch and not help once.”

He later posted his own video joking about how the city has been treating him since, and honestly… anyone who has ever parallel parked in Manhattan deserves emotional support and a tax credit.

The Pope has entered the AI discourse.

In his first major teaching document, Pope Leo XIV’s encyclical warned about AI’s potential to deepen inequality, concentrate power, distort democracy, and create what he called new forms of “digital slavery.”

He also called for AI to be “disarmed,” arguing that technological power alone shouldn’t automatically give people the right to govern or shape society.

The 200-page document doesn’t just focus on chatbots and algorithms. It takes aim at bigger questions around who controls technology, who benefits from it, and what happens when too much power sits in too few hands.

And for the most part, the internet got behind it. Not in the AI-doomer side of discourse, but rather in the AI responsibility side.

Whether the latter becomes a reality is anyone’s guess.

He’s not from ICE, he’s from N.I.C.E. 🇨🇦

A clip from This Hour Has 22 Minutes is going viral after comedian Trent McClellan hit the streets of Halifax dressed as a “N.I.C.E. Agent”, short for National Immigration and Citizenship Enforcement, asking tourists hilariously polite questions and being, well, Canadian.

The bit has sparked thousands of wholesome comments, with Americans calling Canada a “refreshing dose of humor and kindness.”

Sometimes the internet (and real life) needs less chaos, and a few more N.I.C.E. agents. ❤️🇨🇦

For millions of parents, she’s the woman who helps our toddlers learn to say “thank you” and “I love you.”

But off-screen, Ms. Rachel has quietly become one of the most compassionate public voices for children everywhere, from her $1M donation to the World Food Program to her continued advocacy for kids in Gaza, Sudan, and Ukraine.

“I just want to serve God and others every day in every way I can,” she told Glamour, after being named one of their 2025 Women of the Year.

A real-life reminder that kindness is louder than controversy.

It’s not every day the richest people in America unite over a common cause, but this time, it’s fear.

Leaked data shows 26 billionaires have spent $22 million backing candidates opposing Zohran Mamdani, the socialist frontrunner for New York City mayor.

Donors include Bloomberg, Ackman, Gebbia, Lauder, Diller, and more, all pouring millions into groups like Fix the City to keep him out of office.

Mamdani’s platform? Rent freezes, free buses, and higher taxes on the ultra-wealthy.

His warning? “Billionaires are right to see us as an existential threat.”

In a city built by workers and run by money, this race is shaping up to test who really runs New York.

The internet just created a national advertisement.

What started as a casual TikTok jingle by @Romeo.show turned into a national Dr Pepper ad during the College Football Playoff, all because millions of people decided it deserved to be one.

Brands flooded her comments. The algorithm did its thing. Dr Pepper listened. And yes, she got paid.

This is what modern marketing looks like now, where talent beats polish and culture moves faster than campaigns. Thankfully, real-life creators are increasingly setting the agenda instead of waiting for brands to do it.

When the internet agrees this loudly, companies don’t really get a choice. They either join the moment or miss it.

Judging by the comment section, this probably isn’t the last brand to come calling for @romeo.show

People really are nicer when Batman shows up.

A new study out of Milan tested the “Batman Effect” by having a pregnant woman board a crowded train, then repeating the experiment with a guy in a full Batman suit entering from another door.

Offers to give up a seat jumped from 37% to 67% when Batman was present. Even wilder, nearly half of the helpers said they never noticed him at all, meaning the simple disruption of seeing something unexpected was enough to snap people out of autopilot and boost kindness.

Researchers say this could shape everything from public art to social campaigns aimed at nudging people toward more prosocial behavior.

This weekend offered a clear lesson in how movie distribution is changing.

Markiplier’s independently financed film Iron Lung earned approximately $22 million worldwide after he promoted it directly to his 38 million YouTube subscribers.

Markiplier has said he spent a few million dollars making the movie, meaning it has already turned a huge profit.

By comparison, Amazon reportedly spent around $75 million to produce and market Melania, which brought in about $7 million at the box office.

This does not mean Hollywood is about to disappear. But it does raise a serious question about whether creator-led distribution will become a more common path for mid-budget films.

A comment from a top German police official is going viral and sparking a serious debate.

During a live interview about rising violence against women, the head of Germany’s Federal Association of German Detectives said women might be safer avoiding relationships with men altogether.

He later clarified it was an exaggeration, but the data behind it (and the public response) is real.

Recent statistics show violent sexual offenses are up 8.5%, even as overall crime has dropped. In 2024, at least two women per day were victims of homicide or attempted homicide.

After the segment aired, both the police chief and the journalist reported receiving violent threats.

The Pope is once again entering the AI discourse.

Pope Leo XIV told a group of artists and curators at the Vatican that it’s becoming increasingly important to distinguish human art from work produced by machines, arguing there is a fundamental difference between the two.

“Algorithms lack the spark of humanity,” he said, while calling for the Church to work alongside artists and cultural institutions to help protect human creativity.

And the timing is interesting.

The comments come just days after reporting that Anthropic has been meeting with religious scholars about questions surrounding AI consciousness and moral status. The company has even engaged with the Vatican, where its researchers have encountered a very different view: Pope Leo’s AI encyclical explicitly argues that artificial intelligence does not experience feelings or possess moral consciousness.

Wild times.

Of course he still sounds smooth as butter.

Netflix shared a blooper reel from its new documentary Dinosaurs, showing the legendary narrator flubbing lines, struggling with dinosaur names, and casually dropping a few F-bombs during recording.

At one point he pauses and says:

 “I am Morgan… sorry… let me do it again… I am Morgan f**king Freeman.”

The clip quickly went viral, proving even the “voice of God” needs a few takes sometimes.

Dinosaurs premiered March 6 and all four episodes are now streaming on Netflix.

Which of these Knicks logos could replace the real thing? 🤔

Back in 1991, designer Michael Doret explored dozens of wild concepts, Empire State Building silhouettes, subway-token monograms, hand-drawn lettering experiments, all before the league landed on the cleaned-up version that debuted in 1992 and still defines the team today.

Some of these early sketches feel straight out of a different NBA timeline.

Ms. Rachel is continuing to use her platform for good.

In a recent interview, the children’s entertainer said she is working with lawyers and immigration advocates to try to shut down the Dilley Immigration Processing Center in Texas, where children are being held with their families.

She recently spoke with children inside the facility over video calls and described the experience as “devastating.”

One 9-year-old told her he wanted to leave so he could attend his spelling bee, while another young child had gone days without a bowel movement and was struggling to eat due to untreated health issues.

Ms. Rachel said seeing and hearing what the kids were going through was difficult to process, calling it something she never expected to encounter firsthand.

The facility currently holds dozens of children and families, and her efforts are part of a broader push to change how children are treated in detention.

ICYMI, Elmo wished both the Knicks and Spurs good luck before the finals, telling fans he hoped both teams would have fun. New Yorkers were not impressed.

The backlash was swift, hilarious, and borderline cruel. And it has not slowed down. Elmo hasn’t tweeted in days and an effigy of him was even seen being paraded through NYC this weekend.

The success of Heated Rivalry did more than turn a cult romance into a global hit.

It helped its creator get life-changing medical care.

Author Rachel Reid, who was diagnosed with Parkinson’s in 2023, revealed that media attention around the show led a world-leading Parkinson’s specialist to contact her directly.

After years on a waitlist in a small community, she now has an appointment with a neurologist and medication adjustments that are already helping her sleep and write again.

“It could change things for me,” Reid said, explaining she hadn’t been getting the treatment she needed until now.

A rare reminder that sometimes pop culture reach doesn’t just change careers, it changes lives.
