Let me introduce myself! Some of you have followed me for years, whilst lots of you are very new and so I thought I’d share a few facts about myself so you can get to know my story a little better. Full transparency, some facts feel a little scarier to share than others, so here it goes…

Whether you found me through my blog way back when or through a sewing reel just last week, thank you so much for following me!

11 film recommendations that just FEEL like girlhood and will forever inspire me. Complex characters, female relationships, dreamy aesthetics, yearning soundtracks, quotes that live rent free in your head, or just a film which passes the bechdel test with flying colours. Here are the films that have provided me with no end of style inspiration and have made me feel seen at one point in my life! All in celebration of my new collection which launches 16th June at 6pm, vintage pieces in feminine florals, babydoll shapes and dreamy pastel hue… Peak girlhood! (Just a small warning with regard to slide 3, as the title would suggest this film deals with a difficult subject. Just want to make that very clear to those who haven’t already seen the film/read the book)

A moment for my wedding dress. Vintage 1970s Christina Stambolian for DP Gowns, made from crochet and silk chiffon (9 metres of chiffon silk in the skirt alone, to be exact). I’d had my heart set on this particular vintage style ever since we first got engaged, I loved how ethereal and kinda folklore-esque it felt. Undeniably 1970s in it’s silhouette and effortlessly elegant. It was a no brainer for me to lean into the whimsical with a flower crown, loose waves and dried flower bouquet.

Other details…
Make Up @lucymatthewsmakeup
Hair @bohemiansalon
Flower Crown and Bouquet @f.o.l.k.y.d.o.k.e.y
Shoes @suzanneraebk
Scent @jomalonelondon Jasmine Sambac and Marigold

Thank you @leahweddings for the wonderful photos.

For Fi. I always try to strike a balance on my page of sharing enough but knowing my boundaries. Being honest but always keeping it light and joyful. This month that’s felt pretty challenging and so I hope you don’t mind, if I take a moment to be a little vulnerable, sit in my sadness and tell you about my beautiful, brilliant friend Fiona who passed away this month after a courageous 11 month battle with cancer.

In 2015 Fi found out she had a brain tumour and would spend the next few years of her life fighting it with THE most admirable bravery I have ever seen. She would speak about her experience with such candour, taking every battle in her stride, that you would never know the toll it took. And she beat it. Then last year after a routine 6 month check up, they found a shadow. Another tumour, in a different place and more aggressive.

I will forever be in awe of how incredible Fi was and I’m glad I had the opportunity to tell her just what she meant to me. It has been the privilege of a lifetime experiencing my 20s/30s with the most incredible group of women by my side, of which Fi was a part of and always will be. A sisterhood in which Fi’s presence will always remain through our unwavering love and the happiest, most cherished shared memories.

Fiona was magnanimous, inspiring and tenacious. For the most resilient person I will ever know, she was the least aware of her strength and was so full of humility. She had integrity, was fiercely loyal and always gave you the truest version of herself. She cared deeply, she’d make time for everyone and you were always in her thoughts. She had a magnetic laugh you could hear above a crowd and recognise within seconds. She was SO full of humour with a sharp, quick wit that was often a little self deprecating.

My amazing friend Fiona, the only person ever able to hug me for more than a millisecond, how much we love you and how terribly we will miss you. Thank you so much for taking the time to read this. In honour of Fi, it would be so greatly appreciated if you could donate to The Brain Tumour Charity fundraiser on this post/in my bio. ❤️

My guide to Tokyo Japan on 35mm film (I’m sorry this is a month late). I had so many questions about our trip to Japan, I thought I’d put it all in a bite sized guide because there’s A LOT to discuss. Where we stayed, what we did, how we traveled and most importantly where we ate! The most unforgettable trip and just know if you’re planning to travel there anytime soon, you’re so lucky. Next week’s guide, Kyoto! (Sort of the text is a little tricky to read in some photos)

Another sewing transformation! Using a preloved curtain to create a vintage 1960s inspired mini dress! I opted for a simple style which lets this beautifully patterned jacquard fabric do all the talking. In rusty, rich berry tones this timeless piece is just so perfect for autumn. If curtains are good enough for Maria in The Sound Of Music, well they’re good enough for me too! What do you think?
