Mini break-through on the broken foot front 🦶🏼I’ve graduated from aircast to stiff @scarpana Spin Ultras, which have turned out to be decent climbing shoe substitutions. Yesterday I toproped some vert/slab that felt pretty intense on my foot; nothing over a 2/10 pain but I was definitely feeling the push on my bones more than usual. Then we stopped at the steep Jacob’s Ladder where @ericlemieux1 sent with a quickness and, seeing the campus-y movement, I felt curious about giving it a shot. The biggest moment of uncertainty was the last throw out of the roof, where I had to toe-in more with the right foot. Let out a little power yell 😅 cause I was scared of potential pain! But nothing flared up, my fingers stuck the jug, and I finished up my first proper climb in 9 weeks. This may not look like it but I’m still taking things slow and conservative. The bones are knitting together steadily and my foray back to climbing continues. Mini break-through on the broken foot front 🦶🏼I’ve graduated from aircast to stiff @scarpana Spin Ultras, which have turned out to be decent climbing shoe substitutions. Yesterday I toproped some vert/slab that felt pretty intense on my foot; nothing over a 2/10 pain but I was definitely feeling the push on my bones more than usual. Then we stopped at the steep Jacob’s Ladder where @ericlemieux1 sent with a quickness and, seeing the campus-y movement, I felt curious about giving it a shot. It’s official: WE BOUGHT THE HOSTEL!!! 💚 @thehostelcaliforniabishop This feels like such an amazing, full-circle moment. I’ve stayed at the Hostel nearly every season I’ve climbed in Bishop. @mysti_mtn hosted me for @heyflashfoxy events and Rock & Ice photo camps, allowed my pet hedgehog Frankie (RIP luv & miss ya), lent me pads for my Evilution Direct, Ambrosia, and TBTF sends, and created an environment that introduced me to folks from all walks of life. Just spent my last day in @bouldercolorado in the exact way I wanted - with my friends in my favorite place, mostly laughing and a little crying and also a little sandbagging 😉 I’ve lived in Colorado for 15 years and this is the first time I haven’t had a physical home base. But of course, it’s the people. It’s always the people who make the place, who make the home. I love you Boulder! My stuff is in storage so I’ll be back at some point. Just not sure when or for how long. For now, I’m headed to Squamish for the summer AND fall 🤩 Excited for this change. #firstfirst #bouldercolorado

Training is hugely important to me, something I incorporate even as I’m projecting a limit climb. I build the strength I need on the Swarm and other mini-projects, so my ‘off wall’ training is more focused on maintenance - bodyweight pull-ups, lighter weights that activate my muscles without fatiguing them, heavy finger lifts but not max (except for the occasional stoker session when I can’t help but try to PR 😅). This helps keep me in the rhythm of routine and structure without detracting from my climbing sessions. I’m also locked in on proper fueling, fully in my peak protein era 🙇🏻‍♀️ so I’m glad to have @gnarlynutrition in my corner once again!! I’ve used Gnarly since their first launch in 2013. Their protein consistently tastes good and works with my gut biome. I’ve experimented with a variety of other supplement lines over the years but Gnarly feels the best again and again. This is on top of whole foods, fat & carbs, and a little sweet treat now and then 😊 As a not-so-lowkey gym rat, my body feels best when I’m both climbing and training. It’s all about adjusting intensity to serve the current goal. Be smart about it! Since I’ve been out of commission from any movement/physical activity, I wanted to set a different kind of challenge that I’ve always been curious about: how many oysters is too many?? I love oysters and have never gotten to the point where I’d say, “Enough oysters, thanks.” 🙂‍↔️✋🏼 But with $1 oysters at @freebirdsquamish, this seemed as good a time as any to test myself in a new way. I started & finished with an oyster shooter, only gagged slightly towards the end, and kept everything down afterwards 😁 Every lap around this planet feels a little faster and a little more precious. When everything feels so serious, this seemed like a good day to take myself a little less seriously 😜 Thanks to my support crew @quinault @jordi.llauvi @sharazaia @hoainam_bui & @christyann_win (who ate 50 oysters of her own!!), love you guys 🥹🫶🏼 and cheers to everyone who sent words of encouragement from afar!

Crimps, a heel hook, a lil hero jump to a jug… my favs. It’s been a little too cold and snowy for the big proj but I’ve been keeping busy here on the East Side. Not quite how I imagined spending my Squamish summer 🥲 Broke my third and fourth metatarsal after falling off a top out and landing on a rock I thought was too far away to matter. @jordi.llauvi last-minute convinced me to throw an @organicclimbing blubber over the rock which probably saved me from shattered bones instead of just fractures. I am bummed, feeling all the feelings but glad it wasn’t worse and so incredibly grateful for the help and moral support I’ve received over the last week. @jordi.llauvi and @hoainam_bui for carrying out our gear, @kmcgrew finding me a scooter, @kt_of_mt and @thebonanakid getting me out of the house for ice cream, Quin for the daily caretaking & making sure I drink water 🥹❤️ and Charlie-cat for the ongoing snuggles. 8 weeks in the boot, ~16 weeks till I can fall again. Need these bones to heal straight and strong so 8+ hrs of sleep, eating calcium & protein-rich foods, taking Vitamin D, visualizing the bone-knitting process every night, and the hardest of all… minimal activity. No jostling the foot for another week or two. But looking forward to hangboarding and upper body work soon! Will get some strong fingers and healthy elbows by the end of this 😤 Tell me your broken-foot stories; what helped you the most??

Not quite how I imagined spending my Squamish summer 🥲 Broke my third and fourth metatarsal after falling off a top out and landing on a rock I thought was too far away to matter. @jordi.llauvi last-minute convinced me to throw an @organicclimbing blubber over the rock which probably saved me from shattered bones instead of just fractures. I am bummed, feeling all the feelings but glad it wasn’t worse and so incredibly grateful for the help and moral support I’ve received over the last week. @jordi.llauvi and @hoainam_bui for carrying out our gear, @kmcgrew finding me a scooter, @kt_of_mt and @thebonanakid getting me out of the house for ice cream, Quin for the daily caretaking & making sure I drink water 🥹❤️ and Charlie-cat for the ongoing snuggles. 8 weeks in the boot, ~16 weeks till I can fall again. Four and a half weeks in 🙃 The front of my foot has gone from a block of stone to slowly coming alive again, toes wiggling and me feeling brave enough to press a little more each day. I was pretty couch-bound the first two weeks; now I’m starting to walk short distances in the boot (with heel raisers for my other foot to balance the hips) and even had my first one-footed board session yesterday 🥹 The body is awesome. I’m growing bones! I’ve been sleeping more, reading Lonesome Dove (wow what a story), hanging with friends, and training fingers of course. No huge realizations over the last month… just a lot of appreciation for my body, and that I miss climbing and love it in any form. Excited for more one-footed board sessions and soon some toproping 🤩 The healing continues! @thenorthface_climb @scarpana @organicclimbing #climbing

My storage unit is cleared out, my plants are packed (thx @christyann_win 🌱) and I’m on the road back to Bishop. I’ve loved my time here and I’m also ready for what’s next. I love the people I’ve built friendships, relationships with; those bonds will carry on of course but things will be a little different now. Big thank you to @mellowclimbing and @nomanslandfilmfestival for bringing me out to host & talk. Big hugs to @alex_puccio89 @robinoleary and baby Rya for hosting me and being the best friend family I could ask for. The middles of this year were hard. I moved out of Colorado and broke my foot in Squamish, 2 months of upheaval into 5 months of sedentary frustration. But the bookends of 2025, beginning and ending in Bishop, have been full of signals I’m paying more attention to: warmth, friends, progress, new opportunities. I’m so influenced by the places I spend time in, and it’s clear to me now that the East Side has changed me - and will continue to change me - for a long time. Wherever you are right now, I hope that place is changing you for the better. And if it’s not, I wish you the best of change in 2026!! Happy New Year 🫶🏼

Back in my favorite place 💟 Remembering how to move on classics and growing skin on not-so-classics. Reacquainting myself with real rock, reminding myself that the fear in my body around falling stems from a mind that is in process of building back trust. It’s good to push myself and it’s also okay to back off things I’ve done in the past. Bishop is very, uhh… tall lol. Got some traveling throughout November but looking forward to the winter here. Back in my favorite place 💟 Remembering how to move on classics and growing skin on not-so-classics. Reacquainting myself with real rock, reminding myself that the fear in my body around falling stems from a mind that is in process of building back trust. Squam so far. Some sending, some WIPing. It’s a unique compartmentalization to focus on climbing when the world feels like it’s falling apart. War, deportations, huge cuts to education, environmental protection, healthcare, social services. Basic rights stripped away. Direct impact to climbers in the fight for public lands back home; an ongoing battle where we win some and still stand to lose so much. But, we did win some! If you texted, emailed, or called your senators, you helped move the needle forward. Just like the people of New York moved the needle for a young, progressive mayoral candidate promising change & support for his community. It does work when we band together. Please keep texting, emailing, calling (public lands within 5miles of cities/towns are back on the bill!!) There is still hope to be had and opportunities to show up for. This is one we still need you for. Stay connected through orgs like @outdooralliance, @americanalpine, @accessfund. Protect your time, health, and attention. And, go climbing. I’m loving Squamish and I’m also thinking of home ❤️ @thenorthface_climb @scarpana @organicclimbing
