Tatsuya Nagamine, the director who revolutionized the One Piece anime and pushed its production quality to a new level during the Wano arc, has sadly passed away at the age of 53. He directed major episodes such as the opening of the Wano Country arc (Episode 892), the first Gear 5 episode (Episode 1071), and the moment where Luffy revealed his dream to his crew (Episode 1088).

Although he stepped away from the director role after Wano, it was revealed today that he had actually passed away months earlier during the summer. Nagamine was known for his work on Dragon Ball Super Broly, One Piece Z, and many other iconic episodes. Rest in peace, Nagamine sensei. 🕊️💔

Eiichiro Oda did not create One Piece as a direct attack on a specific government, but his ideas are strongly shaped by history, post war Japanese culture, and classic storytelling that questions authority. Growing up in Japan, Oda was surrounded by lessons about how governments can erase history, control narratives, and justify violence in the name of order, themes closely tied to Japan’s own censored wartime past. He was also influenced by pirate lore, Western films, and manga like Dragon Ball, where freedom and rebellion are central values. Instead of directly targeting one government, Oda created a fictional World Government that hides the truth, fears free thinkers, and criminalizes those who challenge the system.

This is why One Piece flags are often raised during protests in different countries, because the story represents resistance to injustice as a whole, not opposition to any single nation, but to unchecked power everywhere.

This teacher makes physics class feel like an episode of One Piece 👀

Physics teacher Oliver Castro Jiménez has gone viral for turning Luffy and the Straw Hats into full-on lesson plans. Instead of boring diagrams, he sketches scenes from the anime to explain real concepts like tension, projectile motion, gravity, and even fluid mechanics.

Luffy stretching becomes a way to visualize force. The Going Merry helps break down buoyancy. Even characters like Usopp and Whitebeard show up to explain motion and energy in ways that actually stick.

It’s a simple idea, but it completely changes how students connect with the material. Turns out learning physics is a lot easier when it feels like you’re watching your favorite anime.

The Straw Hat isn’t just a pirate flag anymore. It’s a symbol of freedom for a new generation.

The Straw Hat Jolly Roger has become more than just an anime symbol.

From France, Italy, Mexico, the Philippines, Nepal, Indonesia, India, and beyond, many Gen Z protesters have carried Luffy’s flag as a symbol of freedom, hope, and resistance.

The reason is simple.

Luffy never fights for power, politics, or control. He fights to free people from oppression, overthrow corrupt rulers, protect his friends, and give everyone the chance to live freely. His dream of becoming the Pirate King isn’t about ruling the seas it’s about becoming the freest person in the world.

That message has resonated with millions. What started as the flag of a fictional pirate crew has become a global symbol of standing up against injustice, refusing to give up, and believing that a better future is possible.

Eiichiro Oda showed a story similar to real life scandals long ago in the Punk Hazard arc of One Piece. In this arc, powerful people secretly harm children through experiments and hide their crimes using their authority. Many fans compare this to modern cases like the Epstein files, not because Oda predicted anything, but because One Piece often shows how powerful people can escape punishment while innocent people suffer.

Caesar Clown led the child experiments on Punk Hazard. With help from Doflamingo and Kaido, he kidnapped children and used them in dangerous tests to create giant soldiers, while making them addicted to harmful candy.

One Piece is a Japanese anime and manga created by Eiichiro Oda. It follows Monkey D. Luffy, a cheerful pirate with rubber-like powers, on his journey to find the legendary treasure “One Piece” and become the Pirate King. Along the way, he forms the Straw Hat Pirates, a crew built on dreams, loyalty, and friendship, as they travel across dangerous seas and face powerful enemies.

This tattoo artist turns Pokémon into One Piece characters and the results are incredible 😮‍💨

@enricobigitattooer reimagines classic Pokémon through the bold, chaotic, larger-than-life style of One Piece.

Instead of just mixing elements, each design feels like it belongs in that world, from the outfits to the expressions to the energy.

Somehow, every single one just fits.

Oda’s full message on jump festa :

But looking at the list, it does look like many of our projects are aimed at a global audience (needless to say, that includes Japan). The previously announced anime re-adaptation The ONE PIECE is made for a worldwide audience, and is well in progress. And on March 10 next year, the live-action ONE PIECE Season 2 will finally launch! We’ll finally get to see Chopper! Every time I see new scenes of him, I find myself saying, “Sooo cuuute!” Next March, all of you will be saying the same thing.

As for the new One piece anime film-they haven’t said I’m allowed to say this-I can’t say it’s going particularly well. But maybe saying this will light a fire under everyone, LOl. But it’s about something that I’m sure all of you will be very interested in, so I hope you’ll wait patiently for it.

Since this is Jump Festa, I should talk about the manga on Jump! After what you could call a very long flashback, or at least a little glimpse into history that l’m sure has given you a different perspective on Elbaph, we ended things with a bang, and now things are about to get crazy. Will we get to the island that only King of the Pirates had previously reached? “The man with the burn scar” will appear! Characters who’d never met before will finally meet!
Another pair of characters will come face to face! I think next year will be a year of encounters. The story will be moving at a breakneck speed, but since l’ve aged-much to my chagrin-l’ll take the liberty of maintaining my own health as we continue sailing next year at the fastest ONE PIECE speed.
Festivities ahead! Get ready for a spectacular year!

It took him over 500 hours 🤯

YouTuber Stan616 spent 19 days and more than 100 hours designing a massive recreation of Marineford in Minecraft, using nearly 1.2 million blocks.

The build recreates Marine HQ, the harbor, the surrounding city, and dozens of warships, depicting Marineford just before the Paramount War begins.

After finishing the design, he spent another 20 days gathering every block needed before bringing the entire project to life.

The latest One Piece opening has fans speculating that Usopp might leave the Straw Hats for a while, possibly staying in Elbaf or facing something more serious.

What makes this moment stand out is that every Straw Hat moves forward in the opening, while Usopp remains still, something we have never seen before. This feels especially important because Elbaf has always been tied to Usopp’s dream of becoming a brave warrior, making this arc a defining moment for his character.

This continuous One Piece artwork is insane 🤯

The piece was designed to be viewed in an “infinite” format, turning the story into one continuous journey from beginning to end.

Things that should be happening later in the One Piece world are already happening our own world. In Nepal, protesters raised the Straw Hat Pirates’ flag in front of Parliament as the building burned during demonstrations against the government.

One Piece is not just the greatest story ever told it’s inspiring a new generation to rise up for their freedom and protest against corrupt governments. In fact, it has already become a symbolic threat to authority, just as the World Government fears it in the series. If such a government existed in our world, it would feel that same threat today.

In Nepal mainly by Gen Z, the protests began last week against corruption, inequality, and the social media ban. Thousands gathered at Maitighar, waving both Nepal’s national flag and the One Piece flag to demand reforms.

This had happened earlier in Indonesia too, where protesters marched with the Straw Hat flag during anti government rallies. Now, Nepal has become the second country this year where the symbol of Luffy’s crew is being used as a banner of resistance.

Universal Studios Japan built a real memorial for Ace and Whitebeard 🥺

As part of their One Piece Premier Summer event, the park recreated the iconic graves from the aftermath of Marineford almost exactly as they appeared in the anime.

Ace’s grave includes his hat, beads, and dagger surrounded by white flowers, while Whitebeard’s monument features his captain’s coat and pirate flag above a massive bed of red flowers.

Even the details and flower colors closely match the original scene from One Piece.

Recently, it was said that Eiichiro Oda never wrote the secret of the One Piece treasure anywhere it existed only in his mind. However, during the celebration of 600 million copies of the One Piece manga in circulation, Oda reportedly wrote the secret behind the One Piece treasure and Monkey D. Luffy on a piece of paper and sank it at the bottom of the sea. The truth will be revealed once the series ends.
