The Great Divide Official Music Video is out now with @mastercard Watch the full version on YouTube
From a long silence forms a divide, a great expanse demanding attention. I stare across it. I see old friends, my father, my mother, my siblings, my younger self, the great state of Vermont. I want to scream these feelings, to gesticulate wildly at the figures on the other side, but my voice has grown hoarse and muted after years of climbing a ladder towards the wild, spiraling dreams that have materialized in front of me. Instead, I wrote them down next to a piano in Nashville, next to a pond in Guilford Vermont, in a legendary studio in upstate New York, on a farm with a firetower in Only, Tennessee. The songs are the words I would say if I could. They are the fears I dance with in the moments before I drift off to sleep. The music here is my best attempt to delve deeper into the people, places, and feelings that have made me who I am. I am grateful for all of it, for all of you, for listening to them, if you choose to do so. My 4th album, The Great Divide, will be yours on April 24th, 2026. This documentary captures so much more than I ever thought the world would see about myself, my creative journey and my family. I am nervous about it because it’s personal and some things I touch on are painful to think about and be reminded of. I remember though that anything scary or hard is usually worth sharing with the world. Maybe it will reach one of you in a time when you need it. Maybe you’ll see some of your own family in mine. I will never find the words. These last few years have challenged me creatively and mentally in so many ways and to see this amount of love and support for so many years is such a guiding light for me. I will never stop making music as long as you’ll listen. I do it all for you. 4 consecutive nights in the great Fenway park (I guess it’s the first time anyone has done that, holy shit by the way), stadiums around North America. 77 people in London bought tickets to my show at the social in 2017. I knew it wasn’t huge but for me, selling a show out was something I never dreamed I’d do. Last night we played for 65,000 people who sang every word. I’ll never understand how I am living this life or what I’ve done to deserve your love for me and my music, but I’ll do it for you all until I’m too old to play. When that time comes I can look back on nights like last night to remember what living a dream feels like. Thank you for letting me hear your voices and for helping me believe in myself. 77 people in London bought tickets to my show at the social in 2017. I knew it wasn’t huge but for me, selling a show out was something I never dreamed I’d do. Last night we played for 65,000 people who sang every word.
