Landing at SAN in El Salvador was a lot 😅 packed airport, long taxi lines, and we still had a 2.5 hour drive ahead to Mizata. This keel-billed toucan in Costa Rica has been quite the national phenomenon recently. Keel-billed toucans typically have rainbow beaks, but because of a potential nutrient deficiency, this toucan has more of a blue shaded beak. We were seeing this toucan all over the news while we were in Costa Rica, so of course we went and found a local wildlife photographer on Instagram that was able to take us to the area that this toucan typically hangs out. This keel-billed toucan in Costa Rica has been quite the national phenomenon recently. Keel-billed toucans typically have rainbow beaks, but because of a potential nutrient deficiency, this toucan has more of a blue shaded beak. We were seeing this toucan all over the news while we were in Costa Rica, so of course we went and found a local wildlife photographer on Instagram that was able to take us to the area that this toucan typically hangs out.
