One of the greatest upsets in motorsport happened 35 years ago today. No one was betting on Mazda, but the 787B roared across the finish line at Le Mans to take home the first-ever overall win for a Japanese manufacturer and a rotary engine. The following year would see a ban on rotary engines, meaning the 787B holds the immortal record of being the only rotary-powered car to ever win the overall 24 Hours of Le Mans. The 1991 win remains a testament to Mazda’s #ChallengerSpirit , representing a great deal of determination, hard work and human ingenuity from all those involved in the journey to this victory. 🔴 Il y a 35 ans aujourd’hui, le sport automobile était témoin d’un de ses plus grands exploits. Personne ne misait sur Mazda, et pourtant la 787B a franchi la ligne d’arrivée des 24 Heures du Mans en tête, devenant la première voiture d’un constructeur japonais, et la première propulsée par un moteur rotatif, à signer la victoire au classement général. L’année suivante, les moteurs rotatifs étaient bannis de la compétition. La 787B détient donc à jamais ce record unique : elle demeure la seule voiture à moteur rotatif à avoir remporté les 24 Heures du Mans, toutes catégories confondues. Shout out to Mazda for blessing me with the new 2026 CX5! It was so much fun testing out all the features and driving around with my dad! Did you peep the beat I cooked up in the end tho? *********************************************************** Avec la fête des Pères qui approche, j’avais envie de passer un peu de temps avec mon papa. C’est un homme qui aime sa routine, alors j’ai décidé d’aller le chercher dans mon nouveau bolide pour partir faire un tour ensemble. Merci à Mazda de m’avoir confié le tout nouveau CX-5 2026 ! J’ai eu énormément de plaisir à découvrir toutes ses fonctionnalités et à prendre la route avec mon père. Avez-vous aimé mon beat à la fin ? 🎥: @zenithent
