Landlady Claire - or ‘Boss Lady’ as she’s known by regulars - has decorated the whole of her pub in the beloved yellow, white and blue of Leeds - scarves, flags, plaques… you name it! Their most prestigious bit of merch? It’s all subject to licensing and planning approval, but the start of construction could be just months away, with hopes that the venue could open later in 2026. STACK is due to be spread across two floors and be home to two large digital screens, as well as a stage for live music and other entertainment. There’ll be ten street food outlets, six bars and a coffee shop - with 160 new jobs to be created! STACK has venues across the country, including Newcastle, Lincoln and Manchester. Alwoodley Primary School has GOATS, a fire pit, a sandpit, swings and more 🫨 They’re even allowed to climb trees and push each other round in prams and trolleys! It’s because it’s an OPAL School - which means ‘outdoor play and learning’ is a big priority - and is believed to impact positively on the children’s development. Climbing trees, for example, is said to encourage children to assess their own risk. The goats are called Nico, Nero and Noodle - and roam around freely during breaktime. It comes as a recent survey from Censuswide found that over a third of parents in Yorkshire are struggling with school uniform costs. The Department for Education says that the average cost of a full school uniform and P.E kit is £442 for secondary school pupils and £343 for primary school children, so having a service like the Leeds School Uniform Exchange is vital for so many families in West Yorkshire. No referral or booking is required and donations are also received in store. This amazing pop-up shop in the Merrion Centre is saving families money and saving the environment this summer ❤️ The Leeds School Uniform Exchange (run by Wear and Share Leeds) provides free, good quality school uniforms to kids across the city. It’s all second hand, made up of donations from other families in the city. Last year alone, they gave away 22,280 items of uniform and saved families almost £400,000 in total 🫨 Their efforts also prevented almost 4,600kg of good quality uniforms ending up in the bin. It’s completely free too! You can come along and pick up as much uniform as you need - volunteers will make a note of what you’ve taken.
