Here’s why 🍊 In Chinese tradition, washing your hair or bathing on the first day of the New Year is believed to “wash away” your luck and prosperity. The word for hair (发) is connected to wealth (发财), so keeping it unwashed symbolizes holding onto good fortune. Washing your hair and cleaning beforehand is typically seen as washing away bad luck from the previous year and taking a warm bath after is seen as inviting good energy and fortune (this is heightened with auspicious botanicals). There are many beliefs and superstitions on the lunar new year, but this is just one of them!

I’ve never seen a brand give snacks as a gift - and there’s probably a good reason why. We had to visit multiple Chinese grocery stores in order to gather enough treats for our Asian snack packs. Growing up, I was always given snacks during Lunar New Year to enjoy and to offer to my ancestors. Giving snacks, sharing food, burning ceremonial money, and offering red envelopes were my family’s ways of welcoming good fortune for the year ahead. (As a child, I genuinely believed that eating a chocolate gold coin would bring me wealth and luck.) Though these treats may be small, each one was intentionally selected and carries heartfelt wishes for all of you for the Year of the Fire Horse - the year of momentum. Thank you for sharing this ritual with me 🧧🍊🥰

- Him, probably 🙈 I’m not sure about others but I don’t know many men who take baths. I’m not sure why that is. Maybe they see it as unproductive, but re-introducing baths to my partner 5 years ago and seeing him very quickly fall in love with this self-care ritual and improve his mental well-being has been extremely rewarding. Now, every time I’m about to take a bath, he’ll stand by the bathroom entrance until I invite him in 😂 (or tell him I need personal time). It’s become a shared ritual for deeper connection and I love that. It feels like the best of both worlds where we can prioritize ourselves and each other at the same time. 🥹💚 Anyone here take baths with their partners as well? Or just me 👀

I told him that I was too stressed to celebrate my birthday because we just opened up our US fulfilment centre and are launching a new signature tea bath this month but he made sure to help me take a break anyway 🥹💚 I don’t talk about a lot of things that make me stressed on here, but I go through moments of feeling very overwhelmed just like everyone here. And when I can’t prioritize myself, he takes care of me. Most of the time it’s through small gestures like getting me water, making me food, asking me to go on a walk for him. But this was something else 🥺

I felt like the world already had enough “stuff,” and I didn’t want to add to the noise. I’m not sure where we’d be if I had taken the path of selling $10–$20 baths on Amazon, but I’m grateful we stayed true to our vision. I’m proud that we use only the highest quality ingredients and that we’ve put in the extra effort to pair our baths with guided breathwork and music, creating an at-home spa experience. It means so much when you tell me you treated yourself to an Inoki bath, brought us along on your honeymoon, or gifted it to someone going through a difficult time. Our customer base may be niche, but I’m incredibly proud to be serving you.

I felt like the world already had enough “stuff,” and I didn’t want to add to the noise. I’m not sure where we’d be if I had taken the path of selling $10–$20 baths on Amazon, but I’m grateful we stayed true to our vision. I’m proud that we use only the highest quality ingredients and that we’ve put in the extra effort to pair our baths with guided breathwork and music, creating an at-home spa experience. It means so much when you tell me you treated yourself to an Inoki bath, brought us along on your honeymoon, or gifted it to someone going through a difficult time. Our customer base may be niche, but I’m incredibly proud to be serving you.
