Germany series, Episode 6: Every day in Germany I learn something Americans would absolutely freak out about. I see alot of people not locking their bikes. Kids walking to school alone. People leaving their groceries on the belt while they grab something they forgot. Or how everyone just trusts each other to follow the rules without needing a million signs and warnings. In the US, someone would make a TikTok lawsuit out of half this stuff. Germany isn’t perfect, but man… the level of safety, trust, and calm here? Americans would lose their minds, in a good way and a bad way

Germany series, Episode 1: Cashiers scan at LIGHT-SPEED. They legit just throw your groceries at you on a tiny area to bag your groceries. Almost every cashier looks like they are miserable😭😭 Not trying to be mean but that’s just my observation, yes I have met some ones that are nice and actually interact with you.

You complain about trains being five minutes late, while back in the U.S. we’re just happy if a train exists at all. (I don’t take the train much in Germany, so my opinion might not be valid for the people that take it everyday and rely on it) You get annoyed when stores close early, and I’m standing there amazed that you’re actually allowed a life outside of work. You call the system strict but I look at it as stability. You call people blunt and I call it honesty. And the wild part is that what you consider “normal” is exactly what so many Americans are trying to escape to. Germans have it better than they think.
