Some rich Some broke Some comfortable Some still figuring it out… But they all seem to arrive at the same place eventually. Mortality. And when that hits… everything shifts. I had no idea who I had stopped… but it turned out to be one of the most interesting discussions I have had in the last couple months. Today I learnt that knowledge and wisdom are two very different things. In summary: Knowledge is the information you can collect from others, wisdom is how you extrapolate and use that knowledge within the confines of the real world. “Don’t get married…yet” - what do you think of this perspective?
The lady at the end says it perfectly: “You’ve got to live for today.” How often do we sacrifice what could have been a good moment… in the chase for something “great.” I think our generation has become a little obsessed with this idea of being great. But that can blind us to what should actually be the goal. Doing great things. And there’s a big difference. After speaking to hundreds of people, I’ve realised that “great things” aren’t always historic. They’re not always BAFTAs, Oscars, or stacks of cash. Sometimes a great thing is simply committing yourself to something bigger than you. Something to show the generations that follow us, what it really looks like to make a difference. So chase a career. Chase a dream. Just make sure the thing you’re chasing is bigger than you.

I’m intrigued… would you start a family in your 20s? Every now and then I hear an answer like this and it always interests me. Mainly because as someone who grew up in a strong family environment, I genuinely can’t think of many better things to invest in. And I mean that both financially and with my time. That said, I always try to understand where people’s perspectives come from and why they feel that way. But after speaking to hundreds of older people who did start families, I can conclude 99% did not regret it. If anything, most just wish they’d waited a little longer before having kids. I’m curious though, do you agree with her? Let me know 💬

Not always the ones who have everything “on paper”… but the ones who have truly lived. So if you’re in a rut and don’t know where to look for direction, Maybe start by listening to people who’ve experienced something. The ones with memories so vivid they sound pulled from a film. Speaking from my own experience, they’re the people to learn from. And trust me… there are more of them than you think. Her name is Dr Elaine Perry.
