Merry Christmas, friends. Maria and I love you and are deeply grateful for you. The messages we’ve received, especially your prayers for our family, have meant the world to us and have not gone unnoticed.
Maria made an early decision to stay off social media for the good of our family, but it’s been beautiful to see many of you reach out to her quietly and respectfully via DMs. From time to time she hops on my IG to respond to them, especially to fellow moms who have walked the road of fertility struggles, as she has. While filming Seeking Beauty, I felt a deep pull on my heart to capture an image that would embody the eternal beauty of family—something my children could one day look upon and be reminded of who we are, and what we hold sacred.
In Florence, while wandering through the @sacredartschoolfirenze, I heard whispers of a professor named @novellisofia.art. Stepping into her studio, I was met with a vision that stopped me in my tracks. My jaw dropped—the painting before me was the very reflection of what my soul had been searching for. By grace, she agreed to part with it.
This piece carries a profound story, one that I won’t spoil here. You’ll have to wait for Seeking Beauty to experience the depth of it.

Wife appreciation post our Napa extravaganza haha. I’ve made a lot of questionable decisions in my life… like frosted tips in the early 2000s. But thank God the one decision I got right was the most important one: my wife. She believes in me. Even when I don’t believe in myself, I look into her eyes and see the man I could be—the man I striveto be—the man she sees. That kind of love? It’s not just romance. It’s vocation.
But marriage isn’t always sunshine and serenades. I asked Maria what she would tell herself if she went back in time to our wedding day. Her answer? Get ready for most joy you’ll ever feel… and the most suffering…. On your wedding day, you never expect to lose a child, or have to get rushed to the hospital for emergency surgery for an ectopic pregnancy… it’s in those dark moments when marrying the right person matters most. Thank God I married up.
But don’t let me kid you, it’s also endless joy, laughter, purpose, and God using two imperfect people to build something beautiful. And I wouldn’t trade it for anything.
