The rain, the monkey, the view… it doesn’t get much better than this 🇹🇭🐒 This moment was pure magic for me. Getting to hangout with my all time favorite monkey the dusky leaf monkey (Trachypithecus obscurus) felt like coming full circle. I first discovered them in this tiny corner of Thailand back in 2018 and instantly fell in love. Their little white eye circles… honestly nothing will ever be cuter to me. This was the first time I actually got to sit with one, they are super shy. She stayed close for almost an hour even after I ran into the ocean for a quick swim. When I came back she was still right there eating, totally unbothered by my presence. I just watched her, calm and curious, feeling like time had stopped. They’re sadly listed as Near Threatened because of habitat loss and hunting. There are moments where I go back to this video and still can’t believe this happened. A curious sea lion decided to check me out… not just once, but every time I would go down she came down with me. Being down there with her made me forget I was holding my breath. I was so present. So still. So connected. This kind of interaction is rare. I didn’t even know I was filming. 🙈 I was just in the moment, blowing bubble rings, completely lost in this magical interaction with a sea lion pup. This interaction lasted so long, she just kept coming back to me. I didn’t even realize the camera was on. That’s why I’m holding it all weird, but honestly, I kind of love that about this.
