I left Canada crying (I was gonna post the clip on stories before leaving so that you all could pray for her but I just couldn’t do anything out of stress), praying I would reach my mom in intensive care. I arrived in Algeria… and she had already returned to Allah. On Tuesday we were told her condition had suddenly deteriorated. On Wednesday I took the first flight from Montreal, not knowing if I would make it in time. Eight hours of anxiety on the plane… wondering what message I might receive upon landing. My sister picked me up from the airport. Her face was full of pain, but I thought it was because my mom was very sick. I asked her, “How is mom?” She said, “Not well… you will understand when you see her.” She told me she was tired and closed her eyes in the car. Now I know she was avoiding telling me. I took her phone to send a message to my husband saying I had arrived. And that’s when I saw a notification: “عظم الله أجركم.” My mother had passed away. She died one hour after my plane took off. No preparation. No goodbye. Just shock. I went to see my mom… they brought her out from the morgue so I could see her one last time and speak to her. I never imagined this would happen to me. I still can’t think straight. Sometimes it feels like a nightmare… like it isn’t real. رحمكِ الله يا أمي May Allah grant her mercy and make her grave a garden from the gardens of Jannah. Ontario families! We tried the Premiere experience at Landmark Cinemas for the first time, and it genuinely changed movie night. Heated recliner seats, more personal space, and actual comfort instead of armrest battles. The upgrade is only about $3 per ticket (depending on showtime), and if you go on Tuesday, it lines up perfectly with their already discounted tickets. Small upgrade. Big difference. Especially if you’re making a night of it.
