Little Burgundy is one of them.✨ Once the heart of Black Montreal, it became home to generations of Black railway porters, musicians, entrepreneurs and families who built a thriving community despite systemic barriers. In this episode, I trace the Blake, Newman, White, and Headley family lines (including a possible connection to THE George Headley) while exploring how race and power shaped the records we inherited. The deeper I go, the more I realize genealogy is not just about who your ancestors were, it’s about what the archives were designed to hide.
