There are roughly 275,000 high school senior football players in the U.S. each year. There are ONLY 32 five-stars in each class. That’s it. So the odds of becoming a five-star are roughly 1 in 8,600 per class. And historically, five-stars have a ~65% NFL Draft rate. Some people act like Rivals (and this industry) hands out five-stars like mini Milky Ways on Halloween, not even close. We give out 32. Period. It's finite. They are earned. Nobody in our industry cares which player or which team gets them. We care that the hit rate stays elite. And trust us … nobody loved a five-star more than Nick Saban. And he is the greatest college football coach ever. It’s a privilege to earn a five-star. It’s been that way for 30 years, and it will be for the next 30.
If you guys get ⛏️Portal Pete (@PeteNakos) to 100,000 X/Twitter followers by the end of the day, Friday, Jan 9, I'll give him a HUGE raise. Jan 2, 91,700 📈 It is in your hands. Let's go. t.co/RGnrDhfqM3
I haven't heard the details yet, but I would think Texas paid $3 to $ 3.5 million for Coleman, maybe more. I doubt Alabama was ever in the ballpark.
Another NIL-driven move. Texas is loading up and has the resources to do it. Alabama has resources, but not at this level. "FU money" is driving the game -- just the facts.
Range: This salary level typically aligns with a CEO of a publicly traded company generating > $500M+ in annual revenue. The bottom line is that college sports have become a meritocracy, and schools are "willing" to spend -- and choose to spend -- above market to recruit and retain the best talent/staff/resources. This is not limited to NIL -- although NIL & pay-for-play get the most headlines.
On3 had no knowledge of this relationship. Grant was explicitly instructed not to engage, either directly or indirectly, with the University of Tennessee or its associated collective. On multiple occasions during his employment, he was asked to confirm compliance with this directive, and he repeatedly denied any involvement. These representations were false. He lied to us.
Newspapers spent 20 years believing website ads would monetize better than subscriptions. They got gutted. Now every newspaper has online subscriptions, because it’s the only viable financial model for publishers. We have families to feed. Our reporters work their asses off to deliver trusted college sports news to our members. When it’s ready for the masses, you’ll find it for free @on3.
Proud to announce we’re buying back Rivals. I began my career in 1996 co-founding AllianceSports/Rivals. After a few detours, we’re finishing what we started. Excited to have Yahoo with us on this journey with @on3 and @Rivals. Full-circle moment.
Pete Thamel doesn’t work for On3, dumb ass. Remember, "bi7ch Nakos" is On3
LSU is a top 5 CFB job. If LSU wants Kiffin, this is the/a job he can't turn down. He will be advised to take this job as well. t.co/rNd33ZufYS
Texas wins by at least 7
We listened to our users and we are proud to announce that @JDrumUK has agreed to a new deal with KSR/@On3 to continue and look to expand his role on KSR+. Good for you, Jeff — happy for you and the KSR team. Huge assist by @MrsTylerKSR and @KySportsRadio helping get this worked out. 🚌
On3 credits the reporters who actually break news -- even if they are not ours. ESPN needs to rethink its sourcing protocols. Stop rePeteing stories as “confirmed” and start giving credit where it’s due. This isn’t a one-off, it’s a consistent practice and it is respect.
As a Nashville resident, it’s visible how poorly the city is run, especially compared to the state of Tennessee, which is managed with real intention and efficiency. Don’t let the tourism dollars fool you, we are on thin ice (no pun intended).
You can easily make the case that @JordanSeaton_ is the no. 1 player in the @TransferPortal -- even with the QBs. I predict he will command between $3.5 and $4.0M in this market. He will certainly have options.
