Just walked a few holes on the front nine and... I'm getting a bit giddy! 1. Approach shots, and even pitch shots, are definitely making the "thud" sound on the greens. Even some greenside pitches are bouncing to about knee height. Very difficult to stop the ball around the greens from the rough, but quite doable from the short grass. Bad shots will be punished appropriately. 2. The rough is thick, and multiple players commented that it was as thick as they've seen it here. I watched a player struggle to find a ball just left of the 4th fairway, and then proceeded to not even come close to clearing the water with his 2nd. And his playing partner had no sweat at all from the middle of the fairway. Accuracy off the tee should be significant, assuming this continues. Now fingers crossed that the rain misses on Thursday because this place is ready to rock in a way we are not used to seeing in March.
