I have returned to once again ask the big tough questions- is flying actually faster than driving? This time I’m traveling from LA to SF, which is a significantly longer distance than my last little timed race to San Diego. There’s some errors, even if I’d driven I would have taken time to change into my wedding dress somewhere along the route, and I could have landed at Hayward to be closer to the venue, but it was easier for me to catch a ride to the wedding with other guests coming from San Carlos. Either way, it’s all for fun and always such a joy to see my friends so full of love 💕

Come fly to lunch with me! ✈️ I’ve been reading your comments on my last few flying videos and I am here to answer your questions! Which… are mainly about cost. Learning to fly is the big cost I didn’t touch on here— I don’t come from an aviation family, but I’ve structured my life around learning to fly since I was a teen. It took me 6+ years because I kept running out of money, I got through my first solo in high school working line crew in exchange for hours (20:1) and working my paid job nights and weekends. I went back to training for 2 weeks after college to crank out the rest of my license with the last of my savings before moving to LA where I knew it would be more expensive. I also just got really lucky with finding an FBO that still let ramp rats learn to fly, I feel like that culture is fading fast :( Thanks and and for having lunch with me 🥰

Another year, another Oshkosh! 25 hours of flying through hiiiigh density altitude, crossing the continental divide with 85hp at max gross, and then just… 8 hours of Nebraska. And somehow after all of that, I ended up at Brodhead instead. But honestly, I think that was the best part.

Ok, so whilst this project mostly turned out great, it did take a little longer than a weekend, and there's a few things I would change if I was to do this again. Firstly, the door is kind of a pain to get in and out where it is. If you plan on making this, maybe move the door to one of the side walls and install it forward of the wheels instead. This could also save you money on a window - you could get away with a door on one side and a window on the other, or even a window on the back). Secondly, I’d spend more time trying to find a trailer that isn't the Harbor Freight one, the axle is just really annoyingly far forward. And lastly, my first revision of this design had plywood cabinets in the front two feet of the interior. This would be a convenient place to store your clothes, etc while camping. I nixed them because of the $1000 constraint, but if you're willing to spend an extra $100 on plywood it would absolutely be worth it. Has anyone else made their own camper!?

Butterfly effect is crazy because if I’d never gotten the plane I’d never have posted videos about aviation and wouldn’t have lost my medical and wouldn’t be fighting for the Mental Health in Aviation Act alongside @pilotmentalhealth and wouldn’t have gotten all of y’all to contact your senators or gone to DC to advocate so really, thanks @crapwhereaminow @gretaliebe and @flyingfiddler for encouraging me to make poor financial choices in my 20s!

I share this with for their exceptional storytelling of the work we’ve done. And what great timing as the Mental Health in Aviation Act and Aviation Medication Transparency Act make their way through the Senate!! The Webbys famously have the 5 word acceptance speech, and my submission was “Be fearless enough to speak”. Something I’ve lost a lot of sleep over in the last year is trying to come up with was to inspire other creators to use their platforms for good and speak up for what they believe in, despite the fear of pushback or rejection from our audiences. My team and I have for sure gotten lots of hate and pushback for this campaign, but the day the MHAA gets signed into law it’ll all be worth it 🎉
