Starting over at 29 - again, in Costa Rica🥹 On paper, I had it all: a well-paid corporate job, a 10-year loving relationship, and I had just finished my Master’s degree. BUT I spent my whole life chasing. As an overachiever in school: grades, studying at top universities, climbing the corporate ladder in the automotive industry… always chasing the next big goal. But inside I felt numb. Never feeling good enough, smart enough, or like I had achieved enough. Everything changed on my solo backpacking trip through Latin America. It was supposed to be my “last” trip before going back to corporate… but on that trip I got introduced to spirituality and yoga. I met the most inspiring people who completely changed the way I look at life - and how I want to live. At the beginning of 2024, I quit my corporate job, sold all my belongings, and moved to Nicaragua with the goal to create a life that is true to me and that allows me to travel. Slowly, my passion for photography and content creation became my full-time gig. But I was so scared to show up online. Afraid of judgment, afraid to be seen, afraid of rejection. And then everything changed once I finally hit post. Instead of chasing… I started attracting. People on a similar path. People who also want more: more life, more freedom, more meaning. Now, I’m in the middle of creating an online business with my friend who I met 2 years ago in Nicaragua in Costa Rica: combining my passions for content creation, teaching, and sharing everything I’m learning along the way - because I want to help you go after your dreams too 🧡✨ I have big dreams: hosting in-person events, creating community, hosting retreats… creating a safe container for like-minded women to dream big and inspire each other. A space where we grow, encourage, and build something together. lately, I realized that I am the person holding myself back from creating my dream life because I care so much about what other people might think.. So the other day, I set up my tripod in public to put myself out of my comfort zone and go exactly where the fear is - because that’s where growth happens!! And honestly, I was thinking that maybe people would judge me. Maybe people thought it’s cringe. But it doesn’t matter. Because setting up my tripod actually led to some incredible conversations. People started asking me what kind of content I create, and then one guy approached me afterwards and told me that he saw me filming and actually got inspired by it. He had recently read a quote saying that in order to have an extraordinary life, you have to do the things that scare you. And seeing me do exactly that reminded him of it. I thanked him for sharing this with me because I thought, wow, this is such an amazing reminder for me, too. From now on, I want to remind myself that it doesn’t matter how many people my content reaches. If it only inspires one person, it’s already enough. And then he said, “I hope you see this as a reminder to always keep going, because I think what you’re doing is amazing.” And I was like… wow. This is exactly why I want to keep showing up. So yes, here I am, trying to document my journey of how to design a life I don’t need to escape from until I turn 30 while doing work that I actually love🥺 And if you’re also currently in the process of creating a life that feels more like you, but you’re holding yourself back because of fear of judgment, follow @katjalouuu and let’s encourage each other! Not saying that dancing will replace therapy, but you have never seen me crying dancing on a top of a mountain🤭 and jokes aside: move your body!! Emotions will be stuck in our body if we don’t release them - a little dance session a will not only boost your energy, but also increase your Endorphine levels - it simply makes you happy!! It feels so uncomfortable and vulnerable to share this video. Honestly, I wish I could just pretend that everything was working out the way we had imagined it for us. But it didn’t. And I’m making this video because I wish more people would share the downs, not just the glamorous side of social media and entrepreneurship. Because I know we’re not the only ones. 90% of businesses fail! And honestly, I truly believe failure doesn’t exist. You either win or you learn, and we leaaaarned sooo much!! I’m so, so grateful for this experience, and I couldn’t have asked for a better business partner. The two of us were truly a dream team, and I’m beyond grateful for our friendship @charlottestger love you so much!!🫂 But building a business across continents (Costa Rica & Portugal) is not as easy as it seemed, so this is the end of @seasofself.co Even though we won’t continue running a business together, we’ll always continue encouraging and supporting each other on our individual journeys, going on surf trips, and traveling the world together and who knows what the future has in store for us🥺🥰 This video was taken a couple of weeks ago. At this moment, I feel so much gratitude and pride for what we’ve created. I just came back from a season of self- retreat, and my heart couldn’t be filled with more love🌀🧚🏼🫂🧡 It was so magical to bring inspiring women together to pause, reconnect with their intuition, and gain more clarity!!🥹 This work is truly so special to me, and I know I’ll continue doing it in some way in the future, too!! Let this be your little reminder, wherever you are on your journey: sometimes things don’t work out the way we want them to, but it’s not the end of the world. We’re allowed to change directions, change our minds, and reinvent ourselves as many times as we want. If you can relate to any of this, I hope this makes you feel a little less alone.
