didn’t realize how many decisions came with labor… until I actually looked into it. Here are some things you may be asked about during labor (especially in a hospital setting) that are worth understanding ahead of time: Labor Positioning Providers may suggest different positions to make it easier to assist — but you can choose what feels most comfortable and natural. (Yes, you can say no to lying on your back.) Episiotomy Used to speed up delivery, but research shows natural tearing often heals better and is less severe. Eating & Drinking Some providers or hospital policies may not allow it, but labor is physically demanding — staying fueled and hydrated can help maintain energy. Cervical Checks Measure dilation and labor progress. Some women choose to limit or decline since progress isn’t always linear — you can be dilated for days or weeks before active labor begins. Pitocin Used to induce or strengthen contractions. It can help move labor along, but may also lead to more interventions. Some women choose to decline to let their body regulate contractions naturally. Breaking Your Water Sometimes used to speed up labor if it has stalled. Others decline due to increased risk of infection and more intense contractions. IV’s Used for hydration and quick access if medication is needed. Some women decline so they can move freely (which can make a BIG difference in labor). Monitoring Continuous monitoring is standard in many hospitals, especially with medicated births. Some choose intermittent monitoring for more freedom of movement and fewer unnecessary interventions. Epidurals A very common form of pain management. Some women decline to stay mobile, avoid risks, or have an unmedicated experience. Induction More common than ever. While sometimes medically necessary, some women choose to wait for spontaneous labor to avoid a cascade of interventions. (You can always say no.) And if you’re unsure in the moment, you can always ask: → Is this necessary right now? → What are my alternatives? → What happens if we wait? You don’t have to decide everything right now… but knowing your options ahead of time can make a HUGE difference 🤍

Watching this back reminds me how incredible giving birth is. Unmedicated birth isn’t about being tough. It’s about understanding what’s happening, trusting your body, and training your mind. When we only share horror stories, we forget to share the preparation behind positive ones. Birth is like a marathon. If you train for it, you experience it differently. #birthstory #birth #positivebirth #homebirth #unmedicatedbirth

A lot of people are shocked that while I have 250,000 friends here on Instagram I have a heck of a time making friends in real life. 😆 I’m a pretty shy person and it takes me a while to start a conversation, or open up to somebody. Anyone else like this?? Give me all your tips for making mom friends! 👇

I promise you, I love my son with a fiery passion. But here are some honest thoughts I had while pregnant with him. 🖤 there is no possible way I can love another child as much as I love Adalynn. 🖤 Did I make a terrible mistake? 🖤 Adalynn is perfect, what will we do if this one sucks? 🖤 I don’t know how I’ll be able to give both the love they need. 🖤 my daughters life is going to change forever and how horrible for her. (Spoiler, she gained a bestie and is living her best life) I’m sharing this because I honestly couldn’t believe some of the thoughts that popped into my head- but it’s more normal than you think. And you will indeed love your second just as much as your first ❤️ What are some crazy thought you had during pregnancy? Share them in the comments! #pregnantlife #secondtimemom #momsofinstagram #baby2 #relatablemotherhood

I was at a party with 50+ people, and you want me to stand up and announce to everyone that I’m about to breastfeed my crying child so that everyone can stare at me and wonder wth I announced for? ☠️ No thanks, I’ll stick to my very discrete system and if feeding my baby makes you feel awkward you can walk away. (Or in my case, never talk to me again 👋) I share the whole story on my YouTube channel if your curious (link at the bottom of my bio) Just here to tell you that YOU CAN AND SHOULD FEED YOUR BABY ANYWHERE. 🫶 If you are a mom or mom-to-be and want a friend to support you through a positive birth, breastfeeding, cosleeping, and raising healthy humans- be sure to follow along! ❤️ #breastfeeding #shaming #momlife #relatablemom #breastfeedingmom

My 4-year-old still rear faces in her car seat. And she will until she outgrows it (meaning hits the weight or height limit). Most people don’t realize that rear facing is actually the safest position for kids for as long as their seat allows, because their neck and spine are still developing. Forward facing too early puts a lot more force on their neck during a crash. Every family makes their own choices, but for us this one felt like an easy decision. Curious what everyone else does — when did your kids turn forward facing? #rearfacing #momlife #momsofinstagram #relatablemom #crunchymama

This will forever be our biggest disagreement lol 🫠 Side 1- if the dishwasher isn’t an option, dishes go in the sink Side 2- if the dishwasher isn’t an option, leave the dishes on the counter Which camp are you?

Today was hard. Lots of tears (some from me) but even on the hardest days motherhood is somehow still the best thing ever. If you’re in the thick of it too- follow along. We’re doing this together! 🖤 #motherhoodunfiltered #momsofinstagram #motherhoodunited #momlife #bedtimeroutine
