Have you ever tried hot chocolate dressed up as a flower? 🌸 The “tahini bloom” at @@8cakesyyc is in full bloom for this year’s YYC Hot Chocolate Fest. 😍 The hint of tahini flavour makes it taste kind of like a nutty Reese cup. My favourite is the homemade Russian marshmallow encircling the cup. And the sesame seeds and rose petals sprinkled on top are just so dang pretty. 🌹 #yychotchocolatefest #yycnow #yycfood #calgary #yycliving @Tourism Calgary

What is the Camino? It’s a question with as many answers as there are Camino pilgrims. The Camino is a spiritual pilgrimage that ends in Spain. But it’s so much more. Since the first pilgrim in the 9th century, more than half a million pilgrims now experience the Camino each year. And as any pilgrim will tell you: it’s not about the destination. It’s all about the journey. Have you heard of the Camino? What does it mean to you? Save this video and send it to the person you want to go on a Camino adventure with. #galicia #spain #camino #santiagodecompostela #caminodesantiago @visitSpain @Turismo de Galicia

Have you ever seen penguins march? 🐧 The king penguins at the Calgary Zoo have the choice each day to leave their enclosure and go for a walk around the zoo. This parade of knee-high penguins waddling en masse is absolutely adorable. The Penguin Walk happens each day at 10:30am (until March 15th), if the temperature is less than 5 degrees Celsius and it’s not super windy. The up-close experience is included with the purchase of a Day Admission Ticket. #calgary #calgaryzoo #penguin #penguins #penguinwalk @Tourism Calgary @WestJet

Ever wondered what happens when top Spanish chefs get together to throw a party? Let’s just say they serve up something pretty special…. That’s exactly what happened when the Tourist Office of Spain and Tasting Spain invited some of the top chefs in Spain to share a kitchen and cook using flavours and foods from their distinctive culinary regions: Cambrils, Lanzarote, and Gran Canaria. We got the chance to meet the chefs, try the incredible food, and learn more about what makes these regions so unique when it comes to cuisine, like volcanic soil, salty Atlantic Ocean air, and grazing goats that roam (and eat!) in different climates to produce the best cheese. The whole evening left us thinking about where we’re visiting in Spain next… 🇪🇸 Who are you taking to Spain on a gastronomic dream trip? Just posted day 2 of our 4-day trip through Scotland! 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿 We’re spending the whole day on the water making our way through the spectacular Treshnish Isles on the west coast. Starting out from Tobermory on the Isle of Mull with its candy-coloured houses, we visit a giant colony of puffins (more than 10,000 of them!) and Fingal’s Cave, a striking place that feels plucked from fantasy. #Scotland #visitscotland #isleofmull #puffins #fingalscave

Michelin Guide recently started handing out Keys to hotels the same way they give Stars to restaurants. Staying at The Dorian in downtown Calgary is my first time staying at a hotel with one of these coveted Michelin Keys. The Dorian is the first, and still the only, hotel in the city to have one. I love that the entire hotel is inspired by Oscar Wilde and his beloved classic The Picture of Dorian Gray. There are “Wilde” touches throughout that make it feel unique. #thedorian #calgary #boutiquehotels #luxury #foryou @Tourism Calgary @The Dorian Hotel @Marriott Hotels

Would you dare step onto a glass floor 191 metres above Calgary? 😳 In this video, I'm taking on the iconic glass floor at the Calgary Tower — one of the city's most thrilling downtown experiences. Walk with me as I look straight down to the streets below and take in unbeatable 360° views of the skyline and the Rocky Mountains in the distance. Spoiler: keep an eye out for some fancy glass floor dancing. It’s equal parts terrifying and breathtaking… and 100% a must-do when visiting Calgary. Would YOU dare walk on it? 👀 #calgarytower #blueskycity #yyc #calgaryalberta #calgary @Tourism Calgary

Canada is home to lots of incredible animals, like snowy owls, caribou, wolves, polar bears, otters, and mountain goats. You can see these and more in the Wild Canada section of the Calgary Zoo. I especially love seeing the otters munching on their treats and wriggling around under the water. Calgary knows how to do winter. In fact some of the hottest experiences the city has to offer take place when the temperature drops. From tubing down the slopes to penguins marching around the zoo, to one-of-a-kind hot chocolates at an entire hot chocolate festival, to a sky-high 360 degree view from the beloved Calgary Tower, to a festival literally dedicated to turning winter nights into a giant outdoor party of bright lights, Calgary understands that winter is far from a time to stay inside and hibernate - it’s a season to celebrate. In this video, I’m showing you why Calgary is such a fantastic winter destination. #yyc #calgary #alberta #canada @Tourism Calgary @Destination Canada @Chinook Blast @TheCalgaryTower @WinSport @@8cakesyyc

Feeling cozy this winter? It’s the greatest time of year for hot chocolate fans in Calgary. February is YYC Hot Chocolate Fest month in Calgary — the most wonderful time of year for fans of this magical elixir. Here are 10 cups to try: 👉 At 8 Cakes, Tahini Bloom blends toasted tahini hot chocolate with a hand-piped rose marshmallow flower. Nutty, floral, stunning. 👉 Chef's N Farmers has Enchanted Forest — dark Belgian chocolate, black cherry, porcini, even an edible mushroom. 👉 Re:Grub might win presentation of the year with BiteMe Apple — apple-infused hot chocolate served inside a real apple. Drink it… then eat it. 👉 Native Tongues turns up the heat with Chucho y Chata — horchata, dark cacao, cinnamon, clove, ancho chile, plus a spirited option. 👉 At Higher Ground, the Root Beer Hot Chocolate — root beer–infused chocolate milk, root beer whip, crushed candy on top. It’s $7 and straight-up nostalgia. 👉 MIK Coffee & Shop goes viral with Dubai Chocolate Matcha — pistachio, crispy kataifi, white chocolate, and premium matcha. 👉 At Hexagon Cafe, Rightside Up is Stranger Things vibes in a cup — salted caramel chocolate, maple graham rim, marshmallow whip, berry compote, and yes… an Eggo waffle on top. 👉 At Little Chief Restaurant, it’s smoky peanut butter “Rocky Road” with marshmallows and graham crumb. 👉 Calgary Climbing Centre drops Pretty Fly (For a White Chai) — white chocolate chai with cinnamon and a literal cinnamon stick straw. Drink and then climb. 👉 Fenyk Coffee & Social brings The Jamaican Bobsled — coconut hot chocolate, banana whip, toasted coconut — a tropical tribute to the ‘88 Olympics. 👉 Craving dessert? Lazy Loaf & Kettle serves a Tiramisu Hot Chocolate with mascarpone whip and a ladyfinger for dipping. Get out, sip some hot chocolate, and tell ‘em we sent you! -------------------- #yychotchocolatefest #hotchocolate #yyc #calgary #canada @Tourism Calgary @RE:GRUB @Calgary Climbing Centre @Higher Ground Cafe☕️ @MIK Coffee & Shop @Fenyk Coffee

Northern Spain is full of treasures: here are 10 to visit in the beautiful and historic region of Galicia. Playa de las Catedrales This natural wonder reveals itself at low tide when the waves retreat and the beach is uncovered. Known for huge arches and caves formed by wind and sea erosion. At high tide you can admire it from the tops of the giant cliffs above, but it’s best to go at low tide when you can walk down and explore on foot. Isla Pancha  Isla Pancha is home to two distinct lighthouses. It’s only two kilometres from the town centre of Ribadeo but feels a world away. The square lighthouse was built in 1857 and cast a guiding light until 1983 when the taller lighthouse was constructed. If you’d like to linger longer, you can even stay overnight: the historic square lighthouse now provides guest accommodation. Monastery of Santa María in Sobrado dos Monxes This monastery has been welcoming Camino pilgrims since the 10th century. During the Spanish Confiscation, the church here was stripped bare and abandoned. The walls are now covered in green moss, as though nature has reclaimed it as its own sanctuary. Castro de Santa Trega  Monte Santa Trega is home to a fascinating archeological discovery: a Celtic fort and village dating back to at least the 4th century. In its heyday, around 5000 people called this home. The entire site was discovered accidentally in 1913 while building a mountain road. City of Culture  This extraordinary design complex is a library and archive, an art gallery, office space for entrepreneurs, concert venue, and more. The undulating shape is meant to imitate the curves and lines of a shell, which is the symbol of the Camino pilgrimage. Monastery of San Salvador in Vilanova de Lourenzá This Benedictine monastery was founded in the 10th century. It’s an important stop for pilgrims on the Northern Way, one of the official Camino routes. One of the treasures inside the monastery is an ornate 17th century reliquary containing 28 relics. The founder of the monastery is also buried here in a 5th century marble sarcophagus. Camino pilgrims have come here since he died in the 10th century. Pazo de Castrelos This 17th century Galician manor houses Museo Quiñones de León in Pazo de Castrelos. Construction began in 1670 and the French-style gardens include 19th century ponds and fountains. The sun-dappled gardens feature orange trees, a miniature manor house sitting placidly in the middle of a pond, and chirping frogs. Rinlo A quiet coastal fishing village near Playa de las Catedrales. With its cobblestone streets and brightly-coloured houses, Rinlo keeps its old world charm. Castelo do Castro, Vigo  Monte do Castro is where you find a 17th century fortress, Celtic ruins dating back to 300 BC, and panoramic views the Vigo estuary. The Bay of Vigo is featured in the book 20,000 Leagues Under The Sea and there is a statue of Jules Verne nearby. Today, Vigo is one of the world’s largest fishing ports and unloads about 34,000 tonnes of fresh fish each day. It’s called “the fridge of Europe” because of all the seafood it supplies to the continent. Cathedral of Santiago de Compostela All routes of the Camino end here at the cathedral: the sight Camino pilgrims wait to see every step of their journey. Camino pilgrims arrive to the front of the cathedral in Plaza de Obradoiro and it’s an emotional moment. Roof of the Cathedral of Santiago de Compostela You can climb 140 steps to the top of the cathedral and tour the rooftop. You get an unbeatable view of Plaza de Obradoiro below, full of Camino pilgrims. Alameda Park  Alameda Park offers one of the best views of the cathedral. Framed by leafy green trees, and lots of places to sit down and rest, you can see the cathedral from afar and enjoy the quiet shade of the park. Which of these places would you most like to visit? Save this for later and send it to the person you want to visit northern Spain with. #spain #spaintravel #galicia #caminodesantiago #españa @visitSpain @Turismo de Galicia

Imagining I live in this 17th century Galician manor house in sunny Spain. I wake up, stroll around the gardens, listen to the birds and frogs chirping, and pick some oranges off the tree to eat with my breakfast, which I’ll eat on the shady terrace, of course. Who’s joining me in this dream scenario? 🙋🏼‍♀️ In reality, this gorgeous place is Museo Quiñones de León in Pazo de Castrelos. Construction began in 1670 and the French-style gardens include 19th century ponds and fountains. It’s a jewel in the city of Vigo in Galicia. Most people think the Camino Trail is about roughing it. I did too. What I discovered is something very different. Days spent walking ancient paths through breathtaking landscapes, followed by evenings in luxury hotels, unforgettable meals, incredible local wines, and centuries of culture and tradition woven into every step. But the real luxury of the Camino? Having the chance to slow down. To notice the changing scenery. To appreciate what your body is capable of. To linger over dinner. To begin each new day feeling ready for whatever lies ahead. The Camino reminds me that the most profound luxury is time - time to slow down, time to be present, time to give thanks for where you are on the journey and for all the moments along the way. Time to truly be exactly where you are. Just keep putting one foot in front of the other. #VisitSpain #spain #caminodesantiago #spaintravel #spain🇪🇸 @visitSpain @Turismo de Galicia @MICHELIN Guide @Relais & Châteaux

It's day 3 of our 4-day trip around Scotland! We are ferry and island hopping around the west coast starting on the Isle of Mull. We visit the Isle of Iona, including Iona Abbey which is known as the birthplace of Christianity in Scotland. It was raided over and over by the Vikings and has an incredible connection to the Book of Kells. We're surprised to discover white-sand beaches with turquoise water too. The day also includes adorable Highland cows, the luckiest sheep in Scotland, creamy Scottish ice cream, and one last ferry to Oban back on the mainland.
