Years ago my wife and I went to see a therapist. She asked me and my wife the one question neither of us wanted to answer. “You guys want to do the work together, or Mike, do you want to do it with another partner? Lisa, do you want to do it with another partner?” The heaviest question isn’t “what’s wrong with us.” It’s whether you’re still willing to choose each other, and hearing “I don’t want to do this shit with anyone else” is what gave them a chance. #psychology #marriage #relationships #fyp #tiktok

There's an experiment @Vanessa Van Edwards encourages everyone to do. All day long, go out to malls, your office especially, and just say 'hey'. Be the first to initiate. You're going to do it 100 times in a row as the first initiator. Break that second of hesitation. You'll get people who make bad faces, act like you're weird, you're going to feel it, but guess what? You survived. Do little experiments in your life. Outside in but also inside stuff too. #psychology #fyp #tiktok #vanessavanedwards #bodylanguage

What’s your potential? It’s one of the best practices I think that we do. I’ll say to somebody, look, next time we see each other, I really want you to spend some time to think about what your potential is. See if you can get a vision, use your imagination to get as clear as you possibly can about what you believe you’re capable of. I just want to see and feel that compelling future and I’ll do the same for you. and then let’s calibrate. Combine those 2 and you will realize what someone’s potential is. #mastery #mindset #findingmastery #psychology #fyp

Robert Greene says chasing the Goldman Sachs job straight out of college is wasting the one decade you can’t get back. “Your 20s, you’re only young once...you’ve got to have fun, it’s got to be an adventure. But that adventure has to have a direction, heading towards something you love, that excites you.” The point isn’t to try everything. It’s to try enough things within what you love that by 30, you’ve actually learned what you were destined for, instead of guessing at 22 and locking in. #psychology #robertgreene #mastery #fyp #tiktok

The science is clear: Watching sports decreases loneliness. Researchers studied 7,000 people and asked them about their life satisfaction and loneliness. Come to find out, people that watch sport have a decrease in loneliness and an increase in life satisfaction. There are 3 key reasons: 1. Community - There’s a sense of community and connection. 2. Dopamine - There’s a little dopamine spike when you’re actually invested in the team you’re interested in. 3. Interaction - You’re in the room. You’re talking about it with other people. If you think you might be watching a little bit rest assured that it’s actually good for you. Enjoy and GO TEAM USA 🇺🇸⚽️ #psychology #sports #worldcup2026 #fyp #tiktok

The five R’s of dealing with emotions. First, recognize. Be aware. Are you at a red light? Are you at a yellow light? Or are you at a green light? Second, release. Take a breath. Release that intensity. Maybe five breaths. Maybe one breath. Whatever it is. Third, group. So get back. Talk to yourself. Back yourself. Get yourself back together. Pull it together through self-talk. Fourth, refocus. Take your attention and put it outside of you on the task at hand. Fifth, respond. Just go let it rip. Go out there and do the thing. Which R do you need right now? 👇🏼 #psychology #fyp #tiktok #emotions

Be a control freak about controllables. Effort, intensity, focus are all controllables. All things immediately available right now. When those things happen with high effort over time, you end up having the right broth for the championship soup. There are 2 positions you can take: 1. Deleveraged - Focus on the outcome. Trying to manipulate or leverage or dictate something you cannot control. Uncontrollable position. 2. Leveraged - Control what you can master. Be a control freak about controllables. Don’t try to control anything you cannot control. Adults in the room need the discipline to focus on right now and be great right now. #psychology #mindset #mastery #fyp #tiktok

Fewer things at once = more things completed over time. Be realistic about timeframes. How long do things take? How long can you maintain intensity? How much variation do you need? Make quality a tier one principle. How good is what you’re producing? Get better at what you do best. That matters more than how fast you respond to Slack messages. Alternative productivity measures compatible with the human brain. What’s your tier one principle? ⬇️ #psychology #productivity #calnewport #fyp #mastery

Your dream spouse is the person you’re going to fight with. Your dream home is the home you’re going to spend all your money repairing. Your dream job is the job you’re going to lay awake stressing over. It’s not to say none of these things are worth having. It just means that this is part of wanting it. You’re also wanting the cost. You can’t just want the benefit of something. You have to want the cost of something. Make everything a surprise says Jesse Cole. If you’re going to do fireworks, don’t tell people. Make it a surprise. You never know what’s going to happen when you come to the game. Here are 4 simple steps to start you start your day the right way. 1. Take a breath Before you tune to the outside world. Tune to the inside world. One breath. Send a signal to your brain and to the circuitry of your brain that you’re in control of the show. 2. Thought of gratitude This is a way for you to hold space to wake up a particular circuitry in the brain that is not threat detection, but is optimization. Once we start going through the day, most of our brain circuitry is designed to find the dangers and mitigate them. If we can start our day training a different part of our brain, which is like what’s good, it sets us up for a whole different way to experience life later. 3. Be intentional Close your eyes and just imagine specific times in the day on how you want to show up, how you want to be. What’s my intention for today? 4. Be present Take your sheets off and flip over to the side of your bed, stand up, or just kind of be in that position for a moment and just be where your body is. That’s it. Be present. One breath, one gratitude, one intention, be present. #psychology #mindset #mastery #morning #fyp

The Dalai Lama was asked about the killing of Osama bin Laden. His response: I’m really sorry for people celebrating the death. His position was that we need compassion for all humans, even ones perceived to be evil. When people are doing great harm in the world, what’s in your heart for them? The Hindu/Vedic approach has four stages: 1. Understand them - Really try to grasp their perspective. 2. Forgive them - Release the hatred and resentment. 3. Give them options and a long rope - Multiple chances to change. Grace and opportunity. 4. Take a stick - If nothing works, enforce boundaries and consequences. Compassion doesn’t mean abandoning accountability. It means holding both understanding and action. #psychology #mastery #mindset #calm #fyp

You want your kids to love learning says @ryanholiday Have they seen you learning? My framing for my son: when he watches me, is he thinking adulthood is awesome? Parenting is great. Are they seeing you do what you want them to do? What are they seeing you struggle with? What do they see you trying to learn? Who are they seeing you being taught by? How is curiosity and learning something you actively model? Wisdom is a verb, not a noun. #psychology #parenting #stoic #fyp #tiktok

Why are you hungry? @Dr. Jason Fung MD asks the foundational question. If the problem is overeating, then you could think of the problem as over hunger. So, why are you hungry? There's actually three different types of hunger. When you go into the scientific literature, these are fairly well-established. Physical hunger, homeostatic hunger, which is all about hormones and balance. Hedonic hunger meaning related to eat for pleasure. We eat because we like to. It gives us pleasure. Makes us feel better. That's why you eat dessert. It's not because you're physically hungry. Then there's conditioned hunger, because you can pair two things with conditioning. If everything you do reminds you of food, you're going to be hungry all day long. What do they call it? Food noise. You're creating a lot of conditioned hunger. But there's ways around it. You can't just say eat less, because you never understood why they were eating too much in the first place. #psychology #health #hunger #food #fyp

Almost all good things happen outside of your comfort zone. Winning a gold medal isn’t comfortable. Surfing a big wave, climbing a huge mountain—people do crazy stuff that pushes limits. That discomfort is what motivates getting over fears. You almost want your dreams to be scary. If they’re scary, it’s a really good thing. The comfort zone produces comfort, not growth. The edge is where transformation lives. #psychology #mastery #fyp #motivation #surfing

Collective action problem: if you're the only kid not on Instagram, that's hard. But if all kids were not on Instagram—school policy: no phone from first bell to last bell—you've solved it collectively. Nobody's on the phone. You don't worry about what you're missing because nobody else in your ecosystem is on their phone. As a parent: limit screen time, don't let them charge phone in their room, make up rules you discuss together. If the principal said every teacher needs to figure this out on their own, I'm not sending my daughter to this school. Choosing your school is one of the big decisions parents make. What's the collective action problem you think needs to be fixed? 👇🏼 #psychology #fyp #tiktok #socialmedia
