$5 Lamb Chops?! 🤯 Share with someone you’d try this with! I tried Truffle Chicago for the first time and I’ll definitely be back. I love supporting black owned restaurants, especially in my hometown Chicago. Here’s everything I ordered: 🍗 Honey Hot & Garlic Parmesan Wings 🍟 Truffle Fries 🔥 Buffalo Egg Rolls 🐑 Lamb Chops (with garlic mash & asparagus) 🐟 Stuffed Salmon (with Mac & Cheese and Greens) Now you know I pride myself in 100% honest reviews so here’s the real… Overall experience: 7.7/10 Food: 8/10 (I loved th main dishes & appetizers but sides could be better with the exception of asparagus) Service: 6/10 (they were sweet but some things were a little slow getting from the waitress but the food came quick) Ambiance: 9/10 (very cute inside but a little cramped) ⚠️ Note: Do not go here if you have a shellfish sensitivity. Like most restaurants, they fry all their food in the same fryer so cross contamination can easily happen. My friend has a sensitivity to the smell and had to leave early because the smell from the kitchen was causing her allergy to flare up. I didn’t notice the smell at all, so I want to be clear that the place didn’t smell bad. It actually smelled delicious. I’m a big foodie, so I’m glad this was my first stop back home. I really want to get back for their wings so I can try different flavors and their seafood. The BEST brunch I’ve had in Dallas yet 🥂 I’m a Chicago girl so I do NOT play about my food. And when I tell you this brunch was everything. I went back for seconds. 🍌 Banana Foster French Toast 10/10 - this was the star of the show. I’m not super big on sweets for breakfast so I have to be in the mood, but this right here was delicious. 🥬 Fried Chicken & Greens 10/10 - this was soooo good. The greens were spicy and flavorful. The fried chicken was cooked just right and had the right amount of seasoning. Everything was so properly seasoned. 🥩 Beef Tenderloin 9/10 - This was cooked well and the flavor was good, too! It was a great pairing with my eggs. And I do mean EVERYTHING I TASTED WAS SO GOOD. Everything was so fresh. 😍 Now let’s talk about service. The waiter was very personable, knowledgeable about the menu, and shared the best recommendations. He was attentive and anyone who stopped by our table to service us was amazing. You could tell this restaurant really cares about good service. And you know I love to support a Black owned business and restaurant! One thing my family loves is a good buffet (especially for brunch), so in Chicago I know all the best brunch spots around the city. Now that I live in Dallas, I’m so glad I found a brunch spot that is comparable to food and restaurants I love so dearly in Chicago. Saved me $70 🙌🏽 Did you know about this? Am I late to the party?! I’ve been to Miami & Fort Lauderdale many times but never knew this. Today I had time… and since y’all love my travel hack videos I thought I should try it and tell you how it went! If you’re flying into Fort Lauderdale and need to get to a Miami cruise port or your hotel in Miami, this is great. The train took me from Fort Lauderdale AirPort (FLL) to Miami Airport (MIA). If I timed it correctly it would have only taken me about 1 hour and 10 minutes, but I’d just missed the shuttle when I was walking up and had to wait 15 minutes for the next shuttle… then had to wait another 30 minutes once I got to the train station. Apparently on weekends it comes once every hour at the 30 minute mark. I think the waiting was worth it. Because a $5 train ride instead of a $75+ Uber or Lyft is always worth it in my book. I saw families with strollers and lots of folks with luggage. So is this a hidden gem or what?! Are you trying this next time you’re looking for transportation from Fort Lauderdale to Miami? I was initially looking for a shuttle but it led me to this train. So glad I found it and I’m happy I could help y’all, too! Saved me $70 🙌🏽 Did you know about this? Am I late to the party?! I’ve been to Miami & Fort Lauderdale many times but never knew this. Today I had time… and since y’all love my travel hack videos I thought I should try it and tell you how it went! If you’re flying into Fort Lauderdale and need to get to a Miami cruise port or your hotel in Miami, this is great. The train took me from Fort Lauderdale AirPort (FLL) to Miami Airport (MIA). I came here with my mom to try their Thanksgiving dinner and had to come back for the full dinner menu experience! @wickedbutcher invited me & a friend to try their menu and I’m giving my overall experience 10/10. Here’s everything I ate 👇🏽 🥩 Braised Tenderloin Hummus - Probably seems like something random to order, but with the various textures and flavors of this dish, I really think it’s a must try dish at this restaurant! 🦑 Calamari - 10/10 if I’m ever in the mood for calamari I’m coming back here. Crispy. Not soggy. The dipping sauce was slightly spicy but packed with savory flavor. 🥩 Center Cut Filet Mignon - cooked medium with lobster butter 😭🙌🏽✨ 10/10 for sure. My mouth is watering just typing about it. Imma be back! 🥬 Brussel Sprouts - 9/10 but if they ditched the cashews this would earn 10 from me. I love Brussel sprouts and these were cooked perfectly and not overcooked or burnt. 🍌 Banana Pudding 9/10 - My God. It was like a light whipped banana pudding. It was like somebody grandmama made it and elevated it to feel a little more light and fluffy. Next time I’m saving more room so I can eat it all! 😍 Now let’s talk about service. Each time, the staff and waiters are so friendly and very knowledgeable about the menu! They mentioned their favorites were the corn crème brûlée and cowboy ribeye! If you’re wondering what to eat in Punta Cana and you actually want real Dominican food (not just all-inclusive resort options) you need to leave the resort and go here. 📍 Ostia Tío PC is right on the beach and near other local businesses like scuba diving & swimming with dolphins! 🦞 The lobster? Fresh. Seasoned perfectly. Cooked right. The sauce was incredible. Creamy. Flavorful. So good I had to ask for extra sauce for my rice. Honestly one of the best lobster meals I’ve had anywhere. This is the kind of local restaurant in Punta Cana that reminds you why exploring matters. Authentic flavors, good energy, and food that tastes like somebody’s auntie is back there making sure it’s done right. The service was amazing. The bartender had a great convo with me in Spanish to help me practice. It took 25 minutes to wait for my food but they made sure I had a seat right in front of the fan. Landed for ESSENCE & this saved me $50 🙌🏽 Did you know about this? Am I late to the party?! I’ve been to NOLA many times but never knew this. I had a super early flight so I had time… and since y’all love my travel hack videos I thought I should try it and tell you how it went! If you’re flying into MSY New Orleans Airport and need to get to downtown or the French quarter, this is a great option. The ride was only about 30 minutes and you can use Google Maps to plan your ride. I bought the cheap ticket at @New Orleans RTA and I’m so grateful for it! Just take the 202 bus! I had to wait 20 minutes for the bus to come but… I think the waiting was worth it. Because a $1.50 bus or shuttle ride instead of a $50+ Uber or Lyft is always worth it in my book. So is this a hidden gem or what?! Are you trying this next time you’re looking for transportation from New Orleans AirPort? I was initially looking for a shuttle but it led me to this bus. I had a super early flight so I had time… and since y’all love my travel hack videos I thought I should try it and tell you how it went! If you’re flying into MSY New Orleans Airport and need to get to downtown or the French quarter, this is a great option.
