Steve Jobs was known for his obsession with perfection in the products he created and the cars he drove. His love for the Porsche 911 was legendary, and for years, he swapped his black Porsche for a new one every six months for a very Jobs-like reason – to avoid having a license plate. But in 1987, that prized car became a problem when billionaire Ross Perot was set to visit NeXT, the company Jobs founded after being pushed out of Apple. ㅤ Perot, a self-made billionaire and founder of Electronic Data Systems, was interested in investing in NeXT. But he was also known for his no-nonsense, frugal approach to business. Jobs feared that if Perot saw him and his colleague Randy Adams driving flashy Porsche 911 Turbos, he might assume NeXT didn't need funding. So, in a moment of panic, Jobs ran into Adams’ office and blurted out, “Randy, we have to hide the Porsches!” The software engineer, who also owned a Porsche 911 Turbo, looked up, puzzled. "Ross Perot is coming to see us, and I don't want him to think we have that much money." ㅤ The two quickly moved their cars out of sight before Perot arrived. Whether the billionaire would have cared or not, the strategy worked – Perot ended up investing $20 million in NeXT, securing the company's survival. He even sat on the board, believing in Jobs' vision for revolutionizing education through technology. ㅤ That investment may have seemed like a loss for Perot at the time – NeXT never became a massive success. However, a decade later, Apple bought NeXT for $400 million, bringing Jobs back into the company he founded. The software NeXT developed became the foundation for macOS and, later, iOS, which now powers the iPhone and iPad. ㅤ Jobs’ love for the Porsche 911 never faded, but his need to hide it that day played a small yet pivotal role in Apple's incredible comeback. Without that $20 million from Perot, the trajectory of the tech world might have looked very different. Whether Jobs ever told Perot about the great Porsche hideout remains a mystery, but one thing is certain – sometimes, even a perfectionist has to bend the truth to make a deal happen.

Phoebe Gates says she didn’t use her father’s last name until high school. Her parents wanted her and her siblings to grow up without the instant attention that comes with being a Gates. She explained on her podcast that using Melinda French Gates’ maiden name helped her make friends in a genuine way. Most classmates had no idea she was tied to one of the world’s most famous families. Melinda has said this was intentional. She had seen how wealthy kids could struggle with entitlement and wanted her children raised with the middle class values she grew up with. That meant keeping a low profile at school. Bill even avoided dropping the kids off at first so they could blend in before anyone made the connection. Each child was allowed to choose how to use the family name later. Phoebe switched to Gates in high school. Her sister adopted the name earlier, while her brother kept French through graduation. The goal wasn’t secrecy. It was giving the kids room to form their own identities before the world attached assumptions to them. Melinda has said she wanted them to be known for who they were, not for their last name. The approach gave them a childhood that felt more grounded despite their unusual circumstances.

In a groundbreaking financial move that could reshape the tech and automotive industries, RBC has suggested that SpaceX could potentially acquire Tesla in an ambitious $3.74 trillion merger. This monumental deal would value Tesla shares at $480 each. Such a merger would not only consolidate Elon Musk's influence across both companies but could also drive unprecedented innovation in transportation and space exploration. With SpaceX's cutting-edge space technology and Tesla's pioneering electric vehicles, the synergy could usher in a new era of sustainable technology. This proposal comes amid ongoing discussions about the future of renewable energy and space travel, with both sectors poised for significant growth. How this potential merger will unfold remains to be seen, but it certainly has the world buzzing. The possibilities are endless, from enhanced electric vehicle technology to more frequent space missions. As we watch this story develop, one can't help but imagine the transformative impact this could have on the global economy and technological advancement. What do you think about this potential game-changer in the tech world? Could this merger be the beginning of a new frontier in innovation? A $17-an-hour wage doesn't cut it anymore-especially for young workers juggling multiple jobs just to survive. Ford CEO Jim Farley heard that firsthand from his factory floor and responded by converting all temporary workers to full-time employees. "It wasn't easy. It was expensive," Farley said during a June interview at the Aspen Ideas Festival. "But it's the kind of change we need." Channeling Henry Ford's 1914 move to raise wages so workers could afford the cars they built, Farley believes better pay strengthens both workforce stability and consumer demand. "It's a self-fulfilling prophecy," he said. He also called out America's lack of investment in skilled trades, contrasting it with Germany's robust apprenticeship system. Farley's focus isn't on Wall Street—he's betting on people. "If we want a better economy," he said, "we have to build it from the ground up."

Before she wrote a memoir or inherited millions, Lisa Brennan-Jolos was just a 9-year-old hoping her father, Steve Jobs, might one day give her his old Porsche. Instead, he snapped: "You're getting nothing." In her 2018 memoir Small Fry, Lisa recounts this moment not for the car, but for what it revealed — the emotional distance and pain in her relationship with her father. Jobs had denied paternity when she was born in 1978, and only began paying minimal child support after a court-ordered DNA test. Lisa was raised by her mother, Chrisann Brennan, often on welfare. Though Jobs eventually offered more financial support - cars, tuition, a $400,000 home — Lisa said it was always a struggle: "He was cheap as he could be." Even at Harvard, he refused to pay for her senior year; friends covered it, and Jobs reimbursed them later. After his death in 2011, Lisa received a multimillion-dollar inheritance, though most of his $10.8 billion fortune went to his wife, Laurene Powell Jobs, who said she had no plans to pass it on. Lisa's memoir doesn't aim to vilify Jobs but portrays the emotional complexity of their relationship — marked by longing, rejection, and a daughter seeking more than just money. #stevejobs #story #stevejobsdaughter

A major shift in leadership and military activity is unfolding across the Middle East, raising new geopolitical tensions that the world is watching closely. Iran’s Assembly of Experts has reportedly selected Mojtaba Khamenei as the country’s new Supreme Leader following the death of Ayatollah Ali Khamenei. Mojtaba, the son of the late leader, has long been viewed as a powerful figure behind the scenes within Iran’s political and security structure. His appointment could signal continuity in Iran’s leadership approach, but it also raises questions about how the region may respond during an already volatile moment. At the same time, military activity across the region is intensifying. Turkey has deployed F-16 fighter jets near its southeastern border as the situation develops, signaling a heightened state of readiness from NATO’s second-largest military. Meanwhile, Israel has launched strikes targeting sites linked to Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC), according to regional reports. The strikes are believed to be part of Israel’s ongoing efforts to weaken Iranian military infrastructure and limit its regional influence. These developments come amid growing fears that tensions between the United States and Iran could escalate further, potentially drawing additional countries into the conflict. Markets, governments and global observers are closely watching how the situation unfolds in the coming days. #Iran #Israel #Turkey #IRGC #MiddleEastConflict

Elon Musk said Tesla plans to build AI chips at volumes surpassing every competitor combined as the company launches a sweeping recruitment push for top-tier chip designers. Over the weekend, Musk said on X, formerly Twitter, that Tesla had an advanced in-house AI chip and board engineering team “for many years.” He continued saying that the group has already designed and deployed “several million” chips across its vehicles and data centers. These chips underpin Tesla’s lead in real-world AI and autonomous driving. Musk noted that Tesla is currently shipping the fourth version of its AI chip, known as AI4, while preparing to finalize AI5 and beginning early work on AI6. The company’s long-term target, he said, is to bring a new chip design into volume production every 12 months. He added that Tesla ultimately expects to produce more AI chips than the entire rest of the industry, writing, “We expect to build chips at higher volumes ultimately than all other AI chips combined. Read that sentence again, as I’m not kidding.”

Phoebe Gates says she didn't use her father's last name until high school. Her parents wanted her and her siblings to grow up without the instant attention that comes with being a Gates. She explained on her podcast that using Melinda French Gates' maiden name helped her make friends in a genuine way. Most classmates had no idea she was tied to one of the world's most famous families. The goal wasn't secrecy. It was giving the kids room to form their own identities before the world attached assumptions to them. Melinda has said she wanted them to be known for who they were, not for their last name. The approach gave them a childhood that felt more grounded despite their unusual circumstances. #billgatesdaughter #billgates #story #success

Jim Cramer has made a striking comparison, suggesting that investing in SpaceX stock is akin to investing in 100-year railroad bonds. The financial guru is encouraging investors to consider the long-term potential and stability of SpaceX, much like the railroad bonds that were considered a safe bet for future generations. Cramer believes that SpaceX, with its innovative technology and ambitious goals, has the potential to yield significant returns not just for current investors, but also for their children and grandchildren. 🚀 SpaceX, led by the visionary Elon Musk, continues to push the boundaries of space exploration and transportation. Their groundbreaking projects and successful launches have made them a leader in the aerospace industry. By investing now, Cramer suggests that you could be securing a financial legacy for your family, much like those who invested in the burgeoning railroad industry over a century ago. As SpaceX continues to grow and innovate, the potential for long-term returns appears promising. Are you ready to think beyond the present and invest in the future? 🌌 #JimCramer #SpaceX #ElonMusk #Investing #StockMarket

Elon Musk recently weighed in on a controversial topic that’s been making waves: the philanthropic efforts of MacKenzie Scott. Scott, known for her substantial donations exceeding $26 billion, has been celebrated for her charitable impact. However, Musk’s take is less optimistic. He suggests that these donations might not be as beneficial as they seem, questioning the effectiveness and outcomes of such large-scale philanthropy. This sparks a broader conversation about the role of billionaires in philanthropy and whether their contributions truly lead to positive change. The debate is gaining traction, with many examining how donations are allocated and their long-term impact on society. With billionaires like Musk and Scott in the spotlight, it’s a reminder of the complexities involved in charitable giving at such a scale. As the conversation evolves, it raises important questions about accountability and the real-world effects of these massive financial gifts. What are your thoughts on this? Are these donations truly making a difference, or do they need more oversight and strategic planning to ensure they contribute positively to society? Mark Cuban is stirring up the conversation on wealth distribution, emphasizing a need for change in how companies share their success. While much attention is on Elon Musk's potential to become a trillionaire, Cuban argues that the real issue lies in the income disparity affecting millions of Americans who struggle to pay bills. He suggests that CEOs should consider making stock ownership more inclusive, allowing employees at all levels to benefit from a company’s growth. By giving stock to everyone, Cuban believes we could create a more equitable financial landscape where prosperity is shared, rather than concentrated at the top. This idea comes in the wake of ongoing debates about wealth inequality and the role of billionaire entrepreneurs in modern society. Cuban's proposal could spark significant changes in corporate policies and influence how the next generation of businesses operate. Do you think this strategy could be the key to reducing economic inequality? Share your thoughts below! #MarkCuban #ElonMusk #WealthInequality #StockOwnership #CorporateResponsibility

Before Warren Buffett became one of Apple’s biggest shareholders, he once offered Steve Jobs some financial advice—advice Jobs ignored. In a 2012 CNBC interview, Buffett recalled a Saturday phone call from Jobs, who asked, “We’ve got all this cash. What should we do with it?” Buffett laid out four options: stock buybacks, dividends, acquisitions, or holding the cash. Jobs dismissed acquisitions and agreed Apple stock was undervalued—then did nothing. “He just liked having the cash,” Buffett said, adding Jobs later told others Buffett supported doing nothing—“That was not the case,” Buffett laughed. It wasn’t until Tim Cook took over in 2012 that Apple launched a historic buyback program, eventually repurchasing over $467 billion in shares. Buffett didn’t invest in Apple until 2016, when shares were cheap and loyalty was high. That bet paid off: by 2025, Apple became Berkshire Hathaway’s largest holding. At the 2025 shareholder meeting, Buffett praised Cook: “Nobody but Steve could have created Apple, but nobody but Tim could have developed it like it has.” Turns out, even when you ignore Buffett, things can still work out—though maybe not as fast.
