AD You don’t need to give up the foods you enjoy to stay on track… The real secret to long term fitness progress is sustainability. That means following a routine you can stick to, staking small wins over time, and progressing without burning out or falling into the all or nothing mindset That applies to training AND nutrition! Nutrition plays a huge role in your results (just as important as your workouts) but it doesn’t need to consume your life. You don’t need to be “perfect” to make progress You can still build healthy habits and make choices aligned with your goals. Even when you’re eating out! For example, the @fiveguysuk Lettuce Wrap and Coca Cola Zero Sugar is: * Under 250 calories and has 24g of protein * Always cooked fresh (never frozen) * Made to order using fresh and high-quality ingredients * Available to mix and match with 15 different toppings Fitness doesn’t require cutting everything out, you just need to learn how to make it work for you #fiveguysuk @Five Guys Burgers & Fries @@Coca-Cola

A proper running warm up should do more than just get you a little bit sweaty 1️⃣ Raise your temperature: start with an easy jog to gradually increase heart rate, blood flow and tissue temperature 2️⃣ Mobilise what running needs: ankles, calves, hips and hamstrings all need enough range of motion to move efficiently through your stride 3️⃣ Add dynamic movement: leg swings, hip openers and walking lunges take you through bigger ranges while gradually increasing demand 4️⃣ Rehearse running mechanics: skips and high knees reinforce posture, rhythm, coordination and how you’re putting force into the ground 5️⃣ Prepare for impact + speed: pogo hops and calf work start waking up that reactive stiffness through the ankle and lower leg 6️⃣ Build into the session: finish with progressive strides so you gradually expose your body to faster running before your first proper rep You don’t necessarily need every single drill before every easy run, but before a speed or harder session, this is the kind of progression I’d use 🔗 in b!0 for my training programme

Then vs now When I first started in the gym I thought progress just meant adding more weight as quickly as possible. So I’d rush reps, cut depth and basically just try to get the weight from A to B Progressive overload still matters and you should absolutely aim to get stronger over time, but as a beginner don’t get too caught up in ego lifting. If your form disappears the second the weight goes up, you’re probably moving too fast Learn the movement properly first, and the heavier weights will come a lot quicker because of it

The 3 biggest mistakes holding you back in your running journey… 1️⃣ Treating every run like a race - Just like you wouldn’t go for a 1RM in the gym every single session, you shouldn’t be maxing out every run either You’ll actually get more benefit from easy miles and controlled threshold efforts than from constantly trying to absolutely kill yourself with all-out efforts 2️⃣ Not adapting your lifting programme - If you’re adding running into the mix and you actually want to recover and make progress, you need to adjust your lifting slightly You can 100% run and lift and make amazing progress in both, but it requires a balanced approach. You can’t just pile more on and hope for the best 3️⃣ Expecting to be amazing straight away - If you’re new to something, it’s going to take time and consistency to see improvements. Yes, it can be frustrating. Yes, it can feel slow. But nothing worth having comes easy

Here’s a simple running guide if you’re just starting out with HYROX But the most important thing to remember is to build your mileage and intensity gradually If you’re not a runner at all, jumping straight into 4 runs a week is a fast track to injury Start smaller: → 1 shorter easy run → plus either a speed session or a threshold run Then as your body adapts, you can build up to 3–4 runs per week There’s no rush because consistency will always beat doing too much, too soon!! #hyrox #hyroxtraining #hyroxrace #hybridtraining #hybridathlete
